Conversation about drunk shopping and I mentioned that I once ordered racing sprouts and a sudoku rubiks cube just before Xmas about 18 years ago!

DD is adamant that no one does stuff like that. I need you to help me prove her wrong!

My best friend bought a bouncy castle while drunk.

She doesn’t have kids. Or a garden.

Perhaps in her drunken mind, she had dreams of starting a bouncy castle hire business.

I’m tempted to purchase one now, not for the bouncy castle hire business, but because I need a new bed. Could just remove all my bedroom furniture and have a bouncy castle as the bed. Great for spills, so easy to wipe clean.

I am fairly sure you have posted about this before! If not, there are two unicycle loving lunatics on MN!

ETA I really want there to be two of you!

Edited

I don’t know if I have, I wasn’t on mumsnet in 2018 as I didn’t have any kids. I did learn to do it though because DH (who was my relatively new bf at the time) said I’d never do it. My kids find it impressive now but I think one day it will be embarrassing to them so I’m making the most of it.

Nofeckingway · 09/10/2026 23:39

Didn't purchase it I suppose , but in my 20s woke up after a daytime drinking session to find that I had got my ears pierced . No memory of it at all . Did wonder why the piercer didn't notice but my friends said I was perfectly lucid at the time.

Not strictly a purchase but I signed up to a monthly direct debit charity donation to a donkey sanctuary whilst slightly the worse for wear

In a similar vein it turns out I get a bit soppy when I'm drunk and, if I see someone on facebook posting a charity sponsorship request, I get all emotional at how lovely it is they're doing something so worthy. Some people will be scratching their heads as my donation will have been my first contact with them in a long, long time.

Note to self - if I'm raising money for charity, post about it on a Friday night in case there are any other benevolent drunk people on my friends list!

Just hover your phone camera over it. A website link will pop up. Click and it takes you to the web page.

QR codes are a quick way to access certain websites.

You have to be careful though some of them are scams.

QR Codes - what's the real risk?

How safe is it to scan that QR code in the pub? Or in that email?

An inflatable four poster bed!

I booked a nose job in Turkey whilst hammered. Glad I did it though, turns out drunk me does sometimes make good choices 😂

Inflatable kayak….didn’t even remember until it arrived 🤣🤣🤣

LivelyGreyShark · Yesterday 00:25

Erm - ahem, a 1951 Ford F1 Pickup Truck restoration project from ebay.

GarlicEverything · Yesterday 00:31

I (almost) stopped getting drunk around the time internet shopping took off, so my drunk spending was all about impulsively going to expensive restaurants, getting taxis for absurdly short or excruciatingly long journeys, and giving £50 notes to homeless people.

These days I do insomniac clothes shopping. But am already fighting the need for some clockwork goldfish 😂

If it makes anyone feel better, I know a man who bought an island while drunk. It's a long and highly entertaining story involving a private jet, a casino and burly enforcers with guns. I met him in rehab ...

Did you ever use it?

TreacherousPissFlap · Yesterday 00:39

I once (apparently) bought a tail suit when DM was getting married.

We had very little money and I was stressing about what to wear as I'm not traditionally girly and at that stage hadn't really found my own style. When the eBay notification came up my heart sank as I could ill afford to waste money but I couldn't cancel the purchase.

Anyway, the suit arrived with a lovely letter enclosed. It had originally been made by a very small Greek tailor. It had circuitously ended up with the seller whose wife had worn it to a wedding and received many compliments. It fitted me perfectly (the tailor was obviously very small!) and I also received many compliments. I then sold it on with a similar letter and I like to think it's still doing the rounds of short, slightly androgynous women who have weddings to attend.

True. I suppose you could unplug the pump, point it towards yourself and receive a constant blast of hot air.
Although, that would mean you’d be sleeping in a deflated bouncy castle. But the deflated bouncy castle could act as a very thick, cosy, weighted blanket (that smells like feet and Haribo).

Hmm, I might rethink this idea.

My dream of a four poster bed is slowly but surely coming true…

LivelyGreyShark · Yesterday 00:53

GarlicEverything · Yesterday 00:32

Did you restore it?

A lot of it yes, bodywork in primer, restored the leaf springs, diff etc, bought new tyres and an engine ready to go in it but not enough to get it running and on the road.

Ruthietuthie · Yesterday 00:54

Definitely now desiring a bear-table, @randomchap...

TreacherousPissFlap · Yesterday 01:00

Oh, aside from the tail coat we also acquired a puppy one night while somewhat under the influence

Drunk us bought her home, got a cage out of the loft made up for her and settled her in for the night. We woke up in the early hours of the morning to an unholy racket and the two older boy dogs looking incredulously at us.

She's nearly 13 now and as much of an absolute arsehole as she was on the day we acquired her 😆
