To say all pro-Palestinians should watch Fauda on Netflix?

Now it is a drama about how the Israeli security services deal with the conflict but it is apparently pretty accurate and is amazingly well produced and acted.

Season 5, which covers Oct 7th has just come out after a long delay.

I've had to take a break after episode 7 because it's so distressing but it still doesn't even come close to what happened that day.

I think it's gives a clearer idea as to the truth of what has been going on and it does try to give a perspective from both sides.

I think every pro-Palestinian should watch it.

Tapped yanbu but do you really think those who are tapping yabu will actually watch this?

That's the only reason it's popped up 3 years later, a month before the election.

You seem very detached about the suffering that happened at the Nova festival, and the suffering since. It’s all just about election prospects to you, isn’t it? The truth of what happened and Netanyahu’s role in it is of absolutely no interest to you at all. Whether lives could have been saved? Who cares, let’s just win the election.

But maybe don’t assume other’s motivations are the same as yours. I think most people reading this report are horrified to think that the atrocities on October 7 might have been prevented and that the killing of tens of thousands of Palestinians, many of them children, might have been done under false pretences (although there is no moral justification for the level of slaughter of innocents in any case).

And in any case, even if it’s being brought up now because of the election, so what? Does that mean it doesn’t matter if Netanyahu deliberately kept quiet to ensure the attacks went ahead to in his eyes legitimize flattening Gaza? Extraordinary viewpoint to be so dismissive and close-minded.

Ihateandilove · 10/09/2026 00:57

I watched this some years ago and the thing that struck me most was this uncomfortable feeling is that the people on both sides are often much more alike that the political identities they are fighting under would suggest - we see families, loyalties, grief, humour, friendships, traditions, fear and a desire to protect the people they love. It’s not a neat good vs bad story. I looked it up and Fauda means chaos in Arabic.. it’s just a viscous cycle of revenge/ hurt/ retaliation and radicalisation.

I don’t usually get involved in debates about this but I did love Fauda. I don’t think it will change the views of a pro Palestine protestors however.. it’s gone beyond mad how people are pushing their views and beliefs onto others these days. Any opposing view is just seen as something to be quashed.. whatever the question is, more conflict is never the answer and yet here we are..

Shall we start with the 1967 borders ?

I have been wondering this for a long time because it is written constantly that the West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem are internationally recognized Palestinian Territories. But when was this decided? Was this agreed upon in the Oslo Accords or what is the basis for such statements?
To me, it seems completely arbitrary to decide that the pre 1967-borders should be the basis for peace because essentially they are just the areas which Egypt and Jordan were able to conquer through force in 1948. In fact, Gaza and the West Bank were not even united before 1967, they were under the control of two separate countries.
I’m just wondering who came up with this idea that it’s somehow so obvious that we must reestablish the 1967 borders. How did this become internationally recognized?

The movie made about it was 'Pride' - a really great watch and very touching and also funny in parts.

If it was made now, everyone having mobile phones would have ruined at least one sub plot.

Also, beautiful song 'bread & roses.'

I think it's unreasonable to assume people who hold a different perspective must be less educated on the topic.

My own perspective is that the events of Sept 7th were horrifying, but cannot justify genocide.

I sincerely doubt a tv show will change that perspective. I think I'm fairly well informed, but even if I was to discover that Sept 7th was even more horrific than I already think it was, I can't imagine how any reasonable person would then say genocide is justified or acceptable.

Couldn't have put it better myself. Certainly an horrific event but this is no excuse for anhilation of an entire population. There are no excuses that justify what Israel did to so many innocent people ( and some criminals and terrorists, of course).

MumofCandR · 10/09/2026 04:18

FuadaFan · 09/09/2026 16:26

From Episode 7 where it showed what happened to Eli's family, it is horrific and it was tame compared to what actually happened.

They used that one fictional family to depict what hundreds of families went through that day.

Nothing has ever made me more angry in my life tbh.

How anyone can support the 'Palestinian cause' is beyond me.

Two wrongs don't create a right. Being against genocide isn't the same as supporting terrorist actions. Both are horrific and inexcusable, it's not a competition and they shouldn't be pitched against each other to gauge which is ' the worst' - which is essentially how Israel pitched it in a bid to legitimise their actions which had absolutely no legitimacy.

tamade · 10/09/2026 04:48

FuadaFan · 09/09/2026 23:44

Not at all.

I'm not dumb enough to believe a ICJ chief prosecutor accused of sex crimes by his assistant, who just happened to cancel a FACT FINDING 'on the ground' mission to Gaza, due to start on the day he issued arrest warrants, is credible.

Maybe you do though?

I am certainly not dumb enough to miss the fact that such charges against Karim Khan the ICC chief prosecutor are extremely convenient to the state of Israel.

malificent7 · 10/09/2026 06:59

What Hammas did was awful but people are territorial and hate being colonised....this is the result.
Im not pro Palestinian btw..just pragmatic.

Precisely!

And we have watched Fauda, and are still Pro-Palestine.

I won't be watching, nor would I watch a drama from the opposite point of view. I wish both sides well, but it's none of my business. I am too busy clinging on to what is left of my own f-ing identity and culture to worry about anyone else's.

The left are so smug and self-righteous about the Palestinians. Yet it is the globalist left who have destroyed the identities and cultures of Western Europe. They have done all they can to make us hate and reject our own history. They have demonised our national heroes, torn down our statues, and 'de-colonised' our libraries. They 'cancel' people who speak out, or they hound them from their jobs. They have IMPOSED multiculturalism on us, and and made us frightened to protest. They do all that, then expect us to care about the Palestinians!

Aside from the Israel/Palestine argument, I find it quite frightening that people think like this, seeing both historical accuracy and people from different cultures as dangerous threats to their own identity that must be opposed.

There are obviously debates to be had about e.g. statues of slave traders - do you take them down, do you leave them in place and add context? But it’s hardly destroying our national identity if places like the National Trust properties give people more historical information about the slave trade and colonialism. You can still have a pint in a pub by the fire, hike in beautiful countryside, learn about Henry VIII and his VI wives, watch Wallace and Gromit…

Same for ‘multiculturalism’, you might not like hearing people speak different languages on the bus, but it isn’t threatening your individual liberty. Please don’t believe the bullshit stories that come round every year about “Easter/Christmas being cancelled.” If the kids at the local school have a trip to the Sikh Gurdwara as well the church, and their classmates bring in interesting food on International Day, that’s not depriving them of their own culture, it’s enriching their education.

Anyway, back to arguing about Palestine…

Posts like this simply show they’re not interested in listening to what the other side has to say.
Way to talk about a complex conflict 🙄

You have the wrong crowd, OP. This place is very anti Zionist. I wouldn't waste your time.

Being anti- THIS Israeli government and anti-genocide doesn’t make anyone anti-Zionist or antisemitic, FYI.

Do you actually believe Netanyahu 'kept quiet to ensure the attacks went ahead'?

Or do you think he failed to appreciate the seriousness of the warning and in that holds some partial responsibility for the unpreparedness of the response?

Because they are 2 very different things?

That’s quite a strong accusation.

Do your believe any criticism of Israel is possible without it being motivated by hatred of Jews? If not, you seem to be suggesting Jews must never be criticised.

I don’t believe any people are above criticism if we believe their actions are wrong. Do you agree?

They are two very different things. I believe Netanyahu is hugely culpable which either of these it is.

Have you read the Haaretz article? It gives a lot of background and detail about the warning.

I think it would be very unlikely that Netanyahu didn’t grasp the seriousness of the warning. He has highly trained and experienced security and intelligence chiefs to investigate and analyse threats who could have investigated the threat properly yet he chose not to give them the information to do their job.

To suggest he just thought “Oh this one doesn’t matter despite the source snd the nature of the information. I won’t bother mentioning it to my security chiefs” seems somewhat unlikely.

Not everyone.

But some certainly do.

Can be quite difficult to tell the difference sometimes given the frequent use of tropes, exceptionalism and historical ignorance.

You used a trope above when you appeared to suggest Netanyahu 'ensured' the Nova attack went ahead, to legitimize the flattening of Gaza.

Accusations such as these pull on old tropes of Jewish control, manipulation and duplicity.

I'm sure you're not an antisemite really are you? Yet you comfortably used this trope.

You could have criticized BN response, his ignoring of threats both directly to himself and of the female IDF members who spotted unusual activity, you could have criticized his disproportionate prosecution of the war, or his legitimizing of WB violence, none of that is antisemitic. But instead you went straight to accusations of behind the scenes control and manipulation.

Ah OK so youre doubling down.

BN knew the attack was going to go ahead but kept quiet about it because he wanted all those young kids slaughtered, hostages taken, and Palestinians murdered.

Rather than in hubris and incompetence he ignored a warning that he shouldn't have which had terrible consequences for thousands of people.

Got it.

You seem to be saying that even if there is evidence the Netanyahu deliberately chose to keep the warning about an impending attack to himself, it is antisemitic and a trope to say this?

So it shouldn’t be discussed whether it’s true or not because it’s an antisemitic trope?

Are you saying that if Netanyahu has been responsible for “behind the scenes control and manipulation” we mustn’t accuse him of that because he’s Jewish?

Can you clarify if that’s what you mean?

As I said before, I don’t believe anyone of any race or ethnicity is above criticism. Do you disagree?
