Now it is a drama about how the Israeli security services deal with the conflict but it is apparently pretty accurate and is amazingly well produced and acted.

Season 5, which covers Oct 7th has just come out after a long delay.

I've had to take a break after episode 7 because it's so distressing but it still doesn't even come close to what happened that day.

I think it's gives a clearer idea as to the truth of what has been going on and it does try to give a perspective from both sides.

I think every pro-Palestinian should watch it.

I think anything that give people more information (as long as it’s accurate) should be watched. It’s important to informed otherwise how can anyone have an opinion on a subject? I also think it’s important to separate governments/organisation actions from the people on the ground.

I'm far more concerned that someone who shares my society thinks genocide is okay, than I am concerned that people raised in fear and radicalisation think homosexuality is not.

I'd also like to remind you that acceptance in the West is less than a hundred years old. And patchy, at that.

And yet the Palestinian refugees living locally, whom I know because the longest here have citizenship and run two well+regarded restaurants, and because some of the more recently arrived children were in DS’s primary school class, are entirely ordinary, likeable people. Also, about the only thing they have in common as a group is exactly the same as what the Ukrainians I know have in common — a low-level look of permanent worry and strain because of family in danger at home.

I think you really need to think about it differently.
Are “their” mindsets different? Of course because as human beings we are a product of our environment. Do “they” have bias? I’m sure. But so do we. To think differently is to not have really have reflected about yourself. We all have bias.

if we all washed our hands of an issue because someone wasn’t perfect - no one would be deserving of any help. We are human beings and if we can help we should. A solution is needed for both Palestine and Israel. So many lives have been lost already. The way you framed your post it came across as demonising humans and not acknowledging the environment that they were raised in.

Unfortunately though we are at a stage now where you not only have social media and some news channels being factually and historically inaccurate. There is also a rewriting of history on information sites that have been hijacked and books published that are seriously bias and factually wrong. I think the average person no longer knows how to find accurate information. They also are not going to spend much time doing research. Sad but true.

From Episode 7 where it showed what happened to Eli's family, it is horrific and it was tame compared to what actually happened.

They used that one fictional family to depict what hundreds of families went through that day.

Not normally my type thing but you never know I may like it.

I've just got Netflix so this will be on my list to watch.
Do I wholeheartedly support the Israeli government, no.
Do I believe in the Jewish state, absolutely.
Do I expect this to be a factually accurate documentary, no, but I don't treat a drama series as fact anyway and I think this will be interesting and contain useful background information.

What happened to those people in Israel is just the worst thing. What's happening in Gaza is too. Now it seems that Isreal won't be happy until Lebanon has been decimated too.

None of it is right, non of it. It's not picking sides, just need for the murder and wars to stop.
