Has anyone else been banned from Amazon?

I live abroad and very often packages don’t get delivered (it’s the main gripe on the neighbourhood Whatsapp, with neighbours posting if anyone has their package)
Ive contacted Amazon each time and they’ve issued refunds-parcels never turned up.
I received an email last week saying that i’m not allowed to make purchases anymore as there has been over the maximum amount of refunds. and this matter has been dealt with, each time ive tried messaging, the same reply comes back.

It’s very frustrating as is not my fault

I’m just worried about Christmas as it’s difficult to find the toys here for my Dd

Has anyone ever had this?

No but I have heard before that they ban people who have far too many refunds etc so I'm not surprised.

It sounds like none of your parcels are really delivered so I can see why they are stopping it, for whatever reason they are losing money with you. Its not your fault but I can see why they are doing it.

Why do you keep on ordering from Amazon if your parcels aren't delivered to you?

Not all of them aren’t delivered, I order a fair amount and majority have been but some haven’t

If things very often don’t get delivered, I don’t think this would bother me, be sure I’d probably have stopped using them. I mean, surely Christmas was always going to be an issue, with a high chance that what you ordered didn’t show up.

Some must be a lot though because they are basically banning you from buying things.

From Google: Amazon does not have an official maximum number of refunds or returns you are allowed, but they monitor accounts for unusual patterns. Returning too many items or asking for too many refunds can flag your account for abuse.

Something is showing up as suspicious on your account. Apparently you should have been warned before hand - did you get an email warning you about the amount of returns?

notanotherfootballmatch · 29/07/2026 13:28

It's not your fault but you can't expect companies to keep refunding if parcels go missing. They can't afford to keep sending stuff to unreliable locations.

LeaderBee · 29/07/2026 13:29

Is the delivery a problem with amazon?
(I assume not because they source out delivery to their couriers) or is it an issue with where you live? I.e, high crime rate, flats for example where people just pick up and take anything they want if its outside someones door or the courier just doesn't want to climb all those stairs?

But surely they should check with the delivery companies that they are doing their job??

I know a few people that this has happened to. Unfortunately as a data driven commercial business Amazon will be very aware when people become unprofitable customers. Harsh as it seems, it will be that driving the decision. In the UK we have many online retailers so it is not such a big issue

theemmadilemma · 29/07/2026 13:31

I think it's fair enough.

They aren't pointing the finger at you, but if the available local delivery company is constantly having difficulty locating you and/or parcels are going missing which results in them losing money you can't expect even Amazon to continue with that pattern?

After a couple I would have maybe tried using a collection point instead.

Amazon does not publish an exact number, but internal automated risk systems typically flag accounts after a small cluster of missing claims—often around 3 to 5 refunds in a short timeframe—triggering a permanent account ban.

How Amazon Decides

  • Ratio Matters: A high rate of loss compared to your total order history is the main trigger.
  • Value of Items: Losing several expensive electronics looks much riskier than losing cheap household items.
  • Address History: High-risk delivery zones or repeated claims at the same address weigh heavily.

Definitely not crime, but I’d say likely incompetence/laziness, they often cannot be bothered to deliver and we have to drive to a pick up point/shop, either that or they say they’ve delivered but haven’t and say they tried to deliver but we weren’t in (always this for neighbours too) and we were all in

I would set up a new Amazon account with a new email address and a new linked bank account. Can you arrange for parcels to be delivered to a Yodel/ Inpost Locker?

But is that it forever now? Not a temporary ban? It’s going to be a nightmare at Christmas

Well you can’t really blame them 🤷‍♀️

Sucks for you though 😢

Thingsthatgo · 29/07/2026 13:34

It is not really their problem that you can’t get things delivered for your DD unfortunately. They have weighed up the situation (or an algorithm has) and decided that it is better for their business to ban you.
Fo you have any Amazon lockers nearby? You could get someone else to order for you and collect from a locker.

66babe · 29/07/2026 13:36

Can you get your stuff delivered to one of those locker stations ? Saves your parcel going missing ?

EmeraldShamrock000 · 29/07/2026 13:36

It is not your fault or their fault, there has to be a limit. Open up another account and use a secure drop off box location for collection and it shouldn’t happen again.

Then you'll just have to order from retailers other than Amazon. They do exist.

Or indeed use local retailers. Unless you're somewhere really quite extreme like Afghanistan or Gaza, I'm fairly sure toys will be readily available in your country.

Surely that would be more reliable than ordering from a platform where you can't be sure items will arrive?

So open a new bank account? Seems a lot to have to do
i’m guessing if I use husbands it won’t work either as same address and bank cards?

But can I do this with the same bank card etc

I try to where I can, but there are some items that I only really find on Amazon

Yes. I done it before when I clicked on pay prime for the year, not monthly and couldn’t cancel before payment was due.
Amazon have very poor or they don’t care security as long as they can verify card through the bank.
Use a different email address.
DD has DH card on, and mine, it’s no issue.
You could order a new card also but again once it passes verification for spending they’re happy.

Not a bank account.. An Amazon account.

So basically just set up a new account with a different name and email but use the same card & address? Worried they’d check that

You can use the sane name or shorten it. Once you add the card you’ll get a text to verify that you want to add the card, once you click yes. That’s it. Set the address to the local
parcel hub.
