Today me and my OH are going for drinks and food in a city around 30 mins train from our city.
I am at a concert on Friday and there’s a shop that has a top I’m looking for (we don’t have the shop in our city ) I plan on wearing it for the concert.
I checked and it’s in stock
So I said I’m just gonna pop in and grab it
He said “no we aren’t shopping today ,your off work all week ,go and get it another day “
I told him I know we aren’t shopping ,I just want this specific top.
Im literally walking past the shop to get to the area with the pubs.
So now I’m gonna have to go back tomorrow (1 hour travel there and back ,plus another train fare”

Aibu to be a bit annoyed ?
I asked him again and he went in a mood so I just said fine il go another day.

You don't have to go another day, you're choosing to do as he tells you. If he hates shopping then I suggest you stop buying him food or anything. Let him see what happens when shopping is eschewed.

Toure being controlled. Up to you whether you accept it and let it continue or not.

Women who are married to nice men always think this kind of stuff can’t be real… But, sadly, it’s real life for lots of women. Even if you read the stories or people’s childhoods on MN of how their mother enabled a bad dad or hooked up with an even worse stepdad. I’m getting divorced if only for my child’s sake… But I know I’ll be happy once he’s gone!

Franpie · Today 14:16

“Oh, sorry, you misunderstood, I wasn’t asking for permission. I’m going to get the top”

greencatwitch · Today 14:17

Is there a back story?

Are you the type of person who is constantly shopping and buying stuff? because frankly that quickly becomes dull and shallow.

If not, then your partner is an idiot...

You misunderstood, I wasn't asking for permissions, I'm going to get the top.

Corrected that for you. No need to apologise.

So why does she create multiple threads but then does not engage with the posters? If you look at all her previous threads, she rarely comes back.

It was a passive aggressive apology, certainly not sincere! 😂

Just wants to moan, doesn't want to leave him, wants reassurance she's not with a dickhead, goady poster. Who knows.

OhThePotential · Today 14:23

Mine always wants to come clothes shopping with me. If we’re in town together we will go round most shops together but then I have to physically guide him to the M&S cafe and get him tea and cake then run off and do my thing.

Tell him not be ridiculous and go and get your top.

AfraidToRun · Today 14:26

He's already sulked, just buy the top of its sulksville either way...

If I had posted about 5 times in the last 3 months about my partner doing dickish things, including drinking to oblivion and gambling, I’d probably come to the conclusion myself that he’s a dickhead.

IronEverything · Today 14:29

YABU for not going to get the top.

What does him kicking off consist of?

SweetMotherofAbrahamLincoln · Today 14:33

I voted YABU as I wouldn’t even have asked him, I’ve have told him what I was doing and done it.

Pessismistic · Today 14:38

Tell him to go get the drinks in and you will right behind him. Tosser.

Flippin’ Nora - does this really happen in the 21st century??
Please get a grip fgs !!
I would have swanned off, got my top, done another couple of hours shopping and (if he was still being daft) gone to eat on my own. However, my H would never behave like a ‘there we are then’ !

Girlwithavibe · Today 14:53

Jesus is this for real u wasn't allowed to pop in a shop u wanted to buy a top from that u was walking past ?
Please tell me u told.him.to.fuck off u ran in and grabbed the top and tried on some clothes then chatted with cashier then when out again lol 😁
No way would I let my DH dictate what I wanted to do even if he hated shopping it's incredibly controlling and u are allowing it u must put a stop to this please !!!!

Go and get your top, OP, he’s being an idiot!

Happyhettie · Today 15:02

He’s trained you well hasn’t he. He “gets in a mood” or “kicks off” and expects you to go back another day when you’re walking past the shop.
That isn’t normal behaviour.

Balloonhearts · Today 15:04

YABU for letting him tell you what you can and cannot do. If you want to buy a top, you walk in there, leaving him whinging outside if necessary and bloody well buy it! Tell him to get to fuck, he isn't the boss of you. Can't stand miserable controlling men.

Charliede1182 · Today 15:12

Why do you need another adult's permission to enter a shop and buy something with your own money?

Kokonimater · Today 15:19

Why are you doing what you’re told? You’re not a child.
he’s not your dad.
get a back bone!!!

He hates shopping ,so anytime I suggest any sort of shops ,he kicks off

And?? Why is he the authority on how you should live your lives?

More fool you for listening to the man child!
