Letter from HA about loud music?

So basically I received a letter from my HA about loud music causing a disturbance to other residents here.

I am the only one who received it.

I suspect my NDN reported me as I don't think who else it could be?

Surely they could have just left a polite note or approached me?

I assume this will be on my file now?

Have you ever thought that whoever complained may have had issues with neighbours before and they tried speaking directly to neighbours or leaving a note but may have been met with abuse or aggression so they probably thought just to make a complaint to the HA. I have experience of neighbours playing loud music all hours and it’s awful. It starts to affect your mental health. If you want to play music load get some head/ear phones

Buy headphones or ear pods and play your music on those when in the garden. No one should be disturbed by anyone's music when in their own garden!
Its only you to blame if its on your file! 🙄

That’s the thing. It’s like being wary of challenging people who don’t use headphones on public transport or who ride bikes fast on the pavement or who drop litter. You don’t know what else they think is ok.

Enjoy your music in your garden with due respect for neighbours. I cannot understand how anyone could listen to music other than through bluetooth earphones, noise cancelling headphones, whatever.

Could you explain for those of us who don't understand, the need for playing music out loud in a residential area?

Only if they were happy taking the risk of somebody putting their windows through, slashing their tyres or any of the other things that can result from a complaint or request to turn the music down.

You seem to care more about your 'file' and the implications for YOU than you do about the nuisance you have been making of yourself, and what effect your loud music has been having on your neighbour.

loads and loads of people don’t have the confidence to do that and would rather waste a companies time instead 🙄

In many cases it's right to be wary about approaching someone directly with an issue. It's the HA's job to deal with any ASB not individuals who for a multitude of reasons may not be able to deal directly.

Well we need the honesty about the music. Do you have a surround sound speaker/alexa full blast or is it low level background music.

For those saying dont play music, behave!!! Everyone is allowed to enjoy their own garden. Being a nuisance is loud music from morning til night. Normal is a kitchen (assuming its on the rear of the property) speaker louder than you would inside.

I assume anyone doing this couldn’t give a toss about being friendly or polite. So I wouldn’t approach them directly either.

I play music in my garden. Not an issue. But I do not disturb my neighbours with it. When I put it on, I make a point of walking to their fence and making sure it isn't audible from there. Just try to be a bit more considerate.

If you and kids or having a family get together, are we now supposed to he having silent discos???? Wtf.....

Being a nuisance is playing music loud enough to disturb others even for 10 minutes.
Loud music in a garden, on a train, bus or space where others can hear it is dog shit utter selfishness.

You’re right - everyone is allowed to enjoy their own garden. If you were my neighbour and I could hear your music, that would stop me enjoying my garden.

Silence from me wouldn’t disturb you, but
your music would disturb me. So the fair thing to do is for you to wear headphones.

Garden music is antisocial, the only two houses in my street that do that are coincidentally trouble makers

There is a difference between playing music in your garden and playing it so loud it’s a nuisance to others.

A neighbour of mine is currently playing music so loud I can hear it over the TV. They are antisocial, a nuisance and selfish to boot. I expect your neighbour is at the end of their tether and like me, hating where they live thanks to people who only think about themselves.

It’s not rocket science that playing music in your garden is going to annoy people….have a bit of thought for your neighbours.

Oh behave, so we are only allowed in our gardens in silence. Id much rather listen to radio or music than a relentless barking dog.

Sorry op, but it's not OK to play music in your garden without headphones when you have close neighbours.

You seem to be really struggling with the idea your neighbours might not want to hear your music. You must be an absolute nightmare to live near.
