AIBU to ask what you’d do if your DH revealed he was actually an international gun for hire, and not a salesman?

[Hypothesis]

I ask you to imagine this. You’ve been with your DH for about ten years. One kid. You have a great income and lifestyle; a beautiful house, nice things, lovely car. It’s primarily funded by DH’s job in international sales. It takes him away from home for weeks, sometimes longer, but the material benefits are tangible and obvious. He also tells you one day that he’ll give it up and you’ll live a comfortable life.

Then the bombshell - you find out the sales job isn’t a sales job. Your DH is actually an international assassin. He has a vague moral code - he only takes out adults, only takes out men, only takes out those he considers are criminal or immoral (in his eyes) - bad guys basically. However, he remains a gun for hire.

And yes, I’ve been watching Day of the Jackal.

It wouldn’t surprise me …. Even less of a surprise would be my DS14 who literally knows every gun and fighting equipment known to man lol 😂

I do always say that if DH died and the KGB turned up and gave him a service medal I wouldn’t be hugely surprised. He’s a hard person to really know but so am I so it kind of works.

Now if it was DM I would be bloody surprised!!

I think I would want to ensure the assets are protected and in my name in case of criminal proceedings.

Difficult because although I dont believe in the death penalty in civilised society, some people really do need taking out and live by the sword, die by the sword sort of thing. But then that would apply to my husband too

In fantasy land yes I would be all for it and give him a list to add too.
In reality I love his current job which is actually about improving the world and saving people's lives without killing people on intel that is potentially shite. I know that if he killed someone and then found out it was poor information or because of a grudge or something it would eat him up forever.

Assansination is another word fot murder. He should be in prison.

I'd be careful not to piss him off. When he's home, in between 'sales', make sure to make his favourite meals and desserts. Assume your phone/car/bedroom is bugged.

What is therr to say or do? He goes to work comes home just like any other job, sure morally the idea is appalling but job wise it would be no different to any other job where travel is involved

I wouldn't be surprised if my DH told me this. He travels a lot for work, both domestic and international. Has two different names, passports for 2 countries. Has done a variety of martial arts all his life. Is ex-military. Is very computer savvy, and could probably hack into databases to find out info on potential hits. We recently went to a gun range on holidays, and his marksmanship was very good. He is well paid. 🤣🤣🤣

Maybe I need to watch the movie and do something digging. 🤣

Youngest son turned out to be quite the gun buff. He has been collecting Boer War weapons since he was 18 and old enough to get a firearms permit in our country.

Everything stored and kept in gun safes per our laws.

Big brother went to a gun auction with him. Turned out the youngest is a locally know expert. Guys were coming up and asking his opinion and advice on purchases.

Best/worst bit is when we found out he owned some really rare ammo and had the market cornered on it for our region.

He does have a penchant for wearing Adidas tracksuits and looks like your sterotypical eastern European.

I’d be wondering if he were delirious! I’ve worked for him, in the same room as him for the last fifteen years. He’s on the phone to his partner, having technical discussions every day; and I talk to his partner sometimes. All discussions are relevant to our work, not contract hire as a hitman!
