DD and friend had drinks spiked, now in ITU AIBU?

My Dd had her drink spiked last night.
Im sitting in ITU.
I have sons……. But wtf goes on in men’s heads.
For completeness, her best friend, was also spiked, but is not as poorly.
police are being crap.
Just why????

I was spiked by a woman, there was CCTV proving it.

I’m not saying this in a “whataboutery” way but rather to raise awareness; we need to be wary of everyone in certain situations and not have a false sense of security around other women, strangers are strangers at the end of the day.

Because it can be bar staff, someone "bumps" into you.

Do not victim blame because one day it will be you or someone you care about. Will you be blaming yourself or them?

My DDs friend was spiked with a needle in a university bar, fortunately she was with a big group and the rest of them got her to the hospital and she was physically ok but very shaken.
To people asking op where in the country her daughter and friend had their drinks spiked, it is irrelevant this is a very common occurrence all over the country.

It has happened to the sons of 2 of my friends, one was touch and go. he got separated from friends and the staff at the club thought he was drunk. It was touch and go for him at one point. The other was abroad when it happened. I’d always worried about my DD but realised I need to worry about DS too.

Excuse my ignorance, but did they physically inject her by stabbing her in the leg or something similar so you would just think someone had 'bumped' into you and not feel it so to speak? Genuinely interested as I've not heard of this before and its very concerning and very easy to do I guess in crowded bars or festivals etc where you're knocked into all the time?

How did it happen? Were they spiked from the bar or the drinks left unattended?

This makes me very glad that neither I and no daughters of mine are at Uni any longer.

Increasingly so they can be robbed. Happened to 2 blokes I work with. They both had their drinks spiked, started to walk home, and woke up several hours later in an alley with no wallet or phone.

I 'disgust you' because I don't understand how this can happen and I say so.

You need to give your head a wobble and stop being so nasty.

This is fucking horrific!!!

The chances of finding whoever did it are minimal. Even if the bar has CCTV, and even if the person doing it is on camera, the chances are the image will be blurry and poor quality. And even if it isn't, you may have a picture of someone the chances of identifying them are small.

My drink was spiked on holiday for my 40th with friends. I had thought I was beyond the age of that happening. Very frightening and now I hold my drink or leave it. Hope your dd recovers quickly xx

There have been lots of stories of being jabbed with a needle so it may not have even been in the drink - if it’s still in her system, maybe the hospital will be able to see what drug it was. Thank goodness she was with a friend.

It wouldn't be very difficult to get hold of injectable substances that wouldhave similar effects. I'm sure the people who do such wicked things couldn't give a shit about the side effects or longterm harm as long as the drug sufficiently incapacitates the victim long enough for them to rob/abduct or carry out whatever else their intention is.

My neighbour had his drink spiked , it was a work colleague on a staff night out ( female ) it's not always men .

I do hope your daughter gets well soon and it would be great to hear that someone has been caught for this .

Do you think you could watch your drink without blinking or looking away for even a moment, for a whole evening? I don’t think anyone could do that.

Similar to pickpocketing - distraction. You only have to turn your head to answer someone /look at something, and the deed is done.
