Husband lying on bed in sweaty clothes

Im wondering if I’m BU here as I’ve been told by my husband I am. He runs. When he runs often long runs he comes home and sits on our fabric chairs in the kitchen or goes up and lies on our bed. This morning I changed the bed put new sheets on and he come home lies on the bed whilst waiting for the water to heat up. Apparently I’m been precious.

YABU. Homes are to be lived in. You can't disinfect the whole world, however much you might want to.

If my DH, or anyone else, told me I couldn’t sit on my own chair or lie on my own bed, there would be hell to pay.

Definitely not unreasonable to tell him to get his sweaty body off the fabrics. Unless he’s steam cleaning everything regularly? (I’m sure I can guess the answer to that).

I find it disgusting. I run but sit on a towel on my sofa while I wait to cool down enough for a shower.

My DH used to do this, and I didn't like it. He lays a towel or throw on the sofa not and sits on that. YANBU.

Christ almighty I could not put up with this, he’s sitting down on his bed while the water heats up. Give the guy a break!! It’s just sweat, your own husband’s sweat. Presumably you get closer to his other bodily fluids?

I put an old fleece blanket on top of the sofa/bed after my workout if I need a rest before showering as getting sweat out of fabrics is not easy/practical on a regular basis.

YANBU. It's gross. Dirty clothes off and humans in the shower before sitting on the bed.

Here’s an idea. When you made the bed, put a throw on top (or a bedspread or whatever) to protect the clean sheets.

I wouldn't like this....if he's proper sweaty he shouldn't be lying on the bed.

I’m pretty relaxed about most things, but this is minging.

YANBU. If the bathroom is being used by someone else when I get back from the gym/running I either stand up and wait or sit on a towel. It's an easy issue to solve.

My husband changes his outfit immediately if he's had a sweaty gym session but I've never asked him to.

Mine would lie on the hallway floor and mop up afterwards - much more reasonable

but I wouldn't dictate to people how they live in their own home either. I tell my kids, but that's part of how they learn.

I could understand you ask for leaving the bed alone until he has a shower, but kitchen chairs? Buy something more usable. Where is he supposed to sit if he's even banned from the kitchen?

@ThisSereneGoosewe also have bar stools he could sit at, the fabric chairs are at the dining table but the bar stools are washable.

Have you thought about getting him a dog crate OP? Put him in there when he’s sweaty or misbehaving and really show him who’s boss.

I run too OP and my husband cycles. We are not overly precious about the house but we would absolutely put a towel down! It’s so easy and just saves things getting minging with sweat. I have a towel on my office chair right now actually as I came back from a run and jumped straight into checking my email. It’s very normal and easy to protect your soft furnishings from minging sweat.

I am a bit of a clean freak and can't stand a house that's not always "visitor ready", I am aware it can be very annoying possibly 😂

My compromise is to keep everything simple and washable at least on the ground for! Life is way too short to argue about food stain or shoes because you have carpets in the living room, where people should be allowed to sit because you have fabric chairs that do not really belong in a kitchen or food area.

If it's not sweat, it's chocolate/ red wine / food. It's not worth it.

Get the man a chair where he can sit after his run! That's not an unreasonable thing, sometimes you just want to sit down for 5mn before having a shower

I think so long as he keeps to his own side of the bed it's probably OK. How long does a shower actually take to heat up? You could ask him to put a towel down.

My bed is not made without a thick daytime throw on it.
