Husband lying on bed in sweaty clothes

Im wondering if I’m BU here as I’ve been told by my husband I am. He runs. When he runs often long runs he comes home and sits on our fabric chairs in the kitchen or goes up and lies on our bed. This morning I changed the bed put new sheets on and he come home lies on the bed whilst waiting for the water to heat up. Apparently I’m been precious.

My mum used to make my dad sit on a wooden dining chair outside the back door when he came home from work in order to remove his boots, pants and top, which he would then hang up in the back porch for the next day. 🤪🤪🤪

not people, the MAN. Because men are dirty (and sporty) and women are house-proud and do chores while the men do sport. Apparently. We couldn't possibly run and get sweaty ourselves!

why? Since when having a penis prevents anyone from changing the bedsheets?

Why on MN only men go to the gym/ cycling/ running and women stay at home with laundry and cleaning?

I run and arrive home sweaty. I would not think about laying on the bed or sitting on a fabric chair before I have showered and changed.

Get him to change the bedding by himself, so learns what a tedious and awkward job it is. But don’t connect the dots for him.It’s very easy to take other people’s labour for granted, but when you’ve done the work you instinctively want it to stay nice. Let him work out the rest for himself.

Same for steam cleaning the furniture, or stripping the covers - put him in the way of doing that job.

Yanbu OP, and I had something similar earlier this week. DH came in from mowing the lawn, lay on the couch and fell asleep, topless and sweaty. I asked him later to put a towel down if he ever does it again.

The couches are old but I really like them, they're excellent quality and I get them professionally cleaned every couple of years. Old sweat stinks, I'd rather the couches didn't.

It wouldn't bother me on the bed because duvet covers and sheets are machine washable. Upholstery would bother me, because it's not.

An enduring image from my childhood is of a neighbour (housewife, no children) whose husband, when he came in from gardening, had to sit on a tea towel that covered his gold dralon-covered chair, so the chair wouldn't get dirty. It somehow diminished him and made him seem bullied in his own home. (His parents-in-law lived with them.)

I couldn’t bring myself to give the slightest of fucks about this, personally. But I’ve had Mumsnetters tell me I’m disgusting for such hygiene transgressions as sleeping naked, sharing towels with my own partner and not insisting on him showering immediately before
sex, so 🤷🏻‍♀️

I wouldn’t like it either but some people’s responses may differ depending on their experiences of sweaty partners. Mine is literally dripping and clothes soaked. No way is he going near furnishings etc!! But he thinks this too and wouldn’t so at least we’re on the same page. I guess a bit of sweat isn’t as big a deal but I’d still prefer they sat on a towel. How long does the water take to heat??

He can just have a lukewarm shower or you can heat the water up for him coming home.

Fussy people lose all my sympathy when they make their own life as hard as possible. Nothing wrong with being fussy and precious in your own home, but at least, design it so others have a right to live there too 😂

Or replace your entrance hall by a walk-in showers/ laundry room, so people can shower and get rid of their dirty clothes before setting foot in the rest of the house.

After a run covered in sweat no way. Thats gross. My DH trains v hard. He has his own kit washing basket in the garage as it needs washing the same day or will stink.

How is this vote practically 50/50 ahahha a bunch of unhygienic people knocking about!! That's revolting and ignorant. I shower before I get into bed. Does he change into fresh clothes before having a shower too? I bet he doesn't! It's not 'precious' to not want sweat and dirt on your bedding before you go to sleep - that's why you wash them, to avoid sleeping on that!

When it builds up, it's bad for allergies and health and dead skin cell build up attracts dust mites too ffs (plus their droppings), chuck a bucket of water on him next time he does that (when he leaves the bed). No joke.

I think UABU we spend our days doing as we are told by a boss, we come home to enjoy the few precious moments we can spend doing as we please, not have our spouse dictate to us.
If he thought lying on the bed while hot and sweaty was disgusting he wouldn’t do it, those are your values he doesn’t have to appease you.

Water doesn't stink of BO. Sweat can also stain bedding... I get it is water and salt but do you also squeeze out sponges on your bed, randomly? Probably not. Is it too much to ask to have a wash after a run??

If you're in the UK, have you not been getting sweaty at night due to the heat wave? Where do you think that sweat goes?

Presumably people are washing the sheets every 30 minutes in such cases.
