Husband lying on bed in sweaty clothes

Im wondering if I’m BU here as I’ve been told by my husband I am. He runs. When he runs often long runs he comes home and sits on our fabric chairs in the kitchen or goes up and lies on our bed. This morning I changed the bed put new sheets on and he come home lies on the bed whilst waiting for the water to heat up. Apparently I’m been precious.

I can't believe the responses. It is NOT precious to want to sleep on clean sheets or fabric. Does he wash the sheets and change them or is it your 'job'? This would annoy me at so many levels.

It IS precious to have fussy furniture and banning people to use them 😂

I feel you! I always shower after a flight/train travel before getting into bed - cue more shock waves 😂!

I think some of us don’t like dripping sweat on our beds and sofas. Regardless of the whether the body is a male or female.

we don’t want more washing - hence the no unnecessary sweat/dirt on beds.

in our house both of us get sweaty and both do the washing. Both will just hop in the shower. No need for any of this drama really.

it's absolutely your right, but how many times a day do you need to change?
Unless you only mean clothes you wear at work or for hours at a time, not literally "outdoor clothes" I can't understand how that works?

When I go for a run I will then often do some other stuff like mowing the lawn or housework. No way am I going to have a shower, put on clean clothes and then do something that is going to make me sweaty all over again.

Do you have sex in that bed or on the chairs? Hate to tell you, OP but there will be more than just yours&hubby's sweat on your furniture/bed.

Do you sweat at night when it’s warm? When unwell? Whether you have PJ's on or not...

Stop letting show home influencers worm their way into your head, or whomever it is that has made you feel so very OCD. It will ruin your relationship. Do you really want to divorce over some bed sheets?

He would hate to live in our house. As soon as you come home outside shows off in the hallway and indoors slippers. We all change straightaway (some even choose to shower straight away)and get into our home clothes. Definitely no one sits on beds in our outside clothes. Sofas not so strict about ( if they were sweaty they wouldn't anyway). We wouldn't sit in anyone else's home sweaty from a run why in our own? We also live in London and travel on public transport. It's something we did in our own homes growing up and have kept up the tradition but we do have influence of South Asian culture in our home ,where this is regarded as normal. So I'm sure others won't agree.

Yuk - no, you're definitely not being unreasonable if he's all sweaty after exorcising! Even more so if he's sitting on fabric that can't be easily washed, it would end up smelling rotten! Same for if he'd be in the car after gym/running, would need to put a towel down.

I can’t believe most people have no issue with this! It’s minging, you should be clean going to bed, it’s not unreasonable to want your bed not to be wet with sweat and BO, I’d never do it and expect my partner not to

A shower room is 3 steps away. Don’t mean he’ll use it straight away if he can get away with it

Maybe get him to do laundry of sheets and bedding and be responsible for keeping upholstery in good condition. He would soon change his habits if it was him dealing with the sweaty fall-out.

My home is anything but a show home but I actually find it so strange to lye on a bed pouring of sweat, I’m actually so shocked that people think this is ok. Obviously illness, menopause and sex is unavoidable but I’d change the sheets the next day, why purposely do it?

Definitely not unreasonable, OP! I can’t believe so many people disagree. We all run / exercise in our house and nobody sits on beds in sweaty gear, yuk! I’m not excessively house proud but this is a hill I will die on.

You wouldn’t lie in bed if muddy / dirty from gardening etc, so what’s the difference?

My husband knows on holiday after a sweaty day in the theme parks that he has to change or shower before laying on the bed, otherwise you might as well not have bothered having nice clean covers. I do the same.

Is there any reason he can't put the water on before he goes for a run, then it'll be ready when he gets back and he can jump straight in?

YANBU I don't even like someone sitting in my bed in clothes they've been in all day with germs on for example, school uniform, etc. Let alone a sweaty run.

I have PJs and lounge wear I change into, my DP changes into shorts, when we get in. Sometimes I'm getting changed/dressed 4/5 times a day. I have socks that I wear inside the house, I put shoes on to go outside. I have sliders for the garden. I sleep naked.

This no way would I do that ….. gross . You cool off standing around then shower . I’m obviously not running hard enough as I don’t need to lie down after a run !!!

The fabric chairs I can understand your annoyance as they’re not easily cleaned but I couldn’t care less about the bed, it’s going to get sweaty anyway and sheets get washed regularly regardless.
