Hose pipe ban - neighbour doesn't seem impacted...confused?!

The ones online show them as being connected to the pressure washer by a hosepipe.

It's not funny, I was being sarcastic, it destroys the countryside, but it's a complete lie that there's the shortage of houses people pretend there are.

People are fighting over locations, not actual properties. People also want the biggest properties without paying for them. Nothing to do with shortage.

Which "thousands of families" are living in the street right now?
If you pay market price, you find anything you want.

You could read any of the numerous/repetitive threads about bans/exemptions from the last few days, or just look up the regulations that apply to where you live.

You have taken this completely the wrong way.

I am fully aware that disabled people have different needs, but the fact is that DH using a CPAP machine is not affected by being able to use a hosepipe. So we felt we were doing the right thing by complying with the ban, and therefore allowing those who would benefit from being able to use a hosepipe to do so.

Please don't make assumptions about me.

There's supposed to be more houses, because there's supposed to be enough houses that everyone can buy one, provided they want to buy one and are able to do so.

There isn't supposed to be a housing shortage. That's an artificial situation intentionally created by the greedy trying to profit off of land and homes.

The average house price should probably be a fifth or a quarter of what it actually is - the rest of the cost is just artificial inflation. If houses were priced normally, living standards would actually be very high - the difficult living standards are caused by the wealthy creating artificial situations to squeeze money out of people.

How do you get notified about the ban?

Because filling watering cans to water the garden is hard work, so people only do the absolute essentials.

Whereas standing with the hose is a doddle so people water more of their garden, and for longer.

Ditto paddling pools - when schlepping 5l buckets down the garden over and over, one tends to fill to pool much shallower than when leaving a hose to do it

That's the point of a ban, to reduce some of the water usage before it gets to crisis point. Not to say no one can water a garden.

Because someone disabled may not be able to carry a bucket of water or a watering can. There is no ban on watering things as such, just the manner in which you do it, and if you have mobility problems or similar, a hosepipe is easier.

In most ( but not all) areas exemptions are only for essential things like health.

Agree. I think the thing to keep in mind here is just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. Which is what you appear to be doing. Shame more people don’t take note.

And a blue badge denotes exactly that. In a lot of areas the blue badge is suggested as proof you are exempt if challenged.

What I meant is that you can only use your exemption for essential things. Not for pressure washing a car etc.
A lot of people qualify for exemptions. Some on age alone.

Pretty unfathomable to me too to be honest. I can understand those on disability/sickness benefits being exempt, or those with blue badges, but generally someone on benefits because they’re not working would be perfectly able to carry a bucket or a watering can for their needs. Why would they be exempt form a hosepipe ban ? Some areas only exempt those on the Watersure scheme, which to my mind is unfair because it only applies to those on means tested benefits, so wouldn’t cover all needs.

Ah, yes, see what you mean. I agree - as I said upthread, just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. We all need to consider others, whether exempt or not.
