Hose pipe ban - neighbour doesn't seem impacted...confused?!

I think some people struggle to take the hosepipe ban seriously, when there are long term water leaks the water board don’t bother to fix. It undermines the messaging.

How many, exactly, do you think they have built and how many do you think they should have built, and how do you plot that against population expansion?

Because we can’t use a watering can. It’s not beyond the wit of man to work that out. But we shouldn’t be pressure washing paths. It is supposed to be essential use only. I only use the hose to water my vegetables and we don’t even have a hosepipe ban at the moment. We all need to be sensible.

You can't take a ban very seriously when people are still watering their flowers and silly things like that.

Don't get me wrong, they look nice, but while a vegetable garden has a point, we can't be desperate if we can waste litres and litres on our hydrangeas!

Same with cleaning a car. Windscreen? Essentials. Number plate? similar
The rest is not important. Just looks better.

Not to mention the amount of water AI data centres use. Isn't it about 5 million gallons of water per day?

I don't think you're necessarily confused considering its been all over the news and SM recently that there are exemptions. Perhaps ask them?....

Worry, jealousy and panic over what other people are doing will not solve the worlds problems.

In all seriousness we need to spend our last few years here happy. There's a real probability over the next few years, spring into summer will have serious water issues. But we as individuals can do nothing to prevent it.

There are exemptions for certain users, depending on your provider's policy, etc. Included in some cases are BB holders, people registered disabled by other means, some on low income/water sure schemes.

I'm not letting the bushes in my garden die! One of them came from my Mum's garden and there is no way I'm not watering it.

The ridiculous thing here I can't fill my watering can from the hose but I can fill it from the same tap that the hose is attached to. Whoever thinks up these rules really is a special kind of stupid and that's one I won't be abiding by!
