I'm sick to death already of seeing Andy Burnham and hearing his voice. And he isnt even PM yet. Come back Keir Starmer. All is forgiven. I dont know how I'm going to suffer 3 or four more years of him in charge. Playing the part of the working class hero who is going to save the country. Give me strength.

Although, a decade which saw Born to Run, Dark Side of the Moon and London Calling is way better than now.

The hiked pay rises of course before they came back for more. Starmer oversaw this for both junior doctors and train drivers. We've seen nothing yet. Great for those in the public sector not so great for small to medium sized business owners.

The whole Burnham fiasco is a coup. I know SKS has made mistakes, I know SKS is not a great communicator however factions of his party have turned the knife on him. No one is perfect

He made the party electable again, and MPs working behind his back have jobs today because of the work SKS did.

He is a decent honourable man who people didn't think was charismatic enough, and were taken in by the extreme right wing media. So people think he is boring. If I want to be entertained I will go do the bloody cinema

@LuckyHazelFox By the late 70s there were issues with the Unions, the Callaghan government had acknowledged that. However, do not dismiss out of hand the Equal Pay act - do you like being paid the same as men? I’m glad I have holiday pay and sick pay and I’m glad I have workers rights.
Most things have two sides, don’t dismiss out of hand one thing because you don’t like another element.

It’s just plain boring old Andy Burnham who couldn’t even beat Jeremy Corbyn in a leadership contest all those years ago. I cannot get my head around why Labour MPs are now behaving as if he is some kind of Messiah on a second coming. None of it makes any sense to me. It’s all very emperor’s new clothes.

Did MN posters shun name calling, rude references, abusive ones even, about Tories in government? Did you avoid using them? Do you now?

Do you caution people who use these terms about Tories or any other politicians that aren’t Labour? Do you report them?

The 70s consisted of strikes, rising inflation, strikes, poor cuts, strikes, the country going bankrupt, more strikes, bins not being emptied, more strikes, red robbo, more strikes, Arthur scargill, rising petrol prices, strikes. Taxation at 83%, wealth creators skipping the country, more strikes.
