I'm sick to death already of seeing Andy Burnham and hearing his voice. And he isnt even PM yet. Come back Keir Starmer. All is forgiven. I dont know how I'm going to suffer 3 or four more years of him in charge. Playing the part of the working class hero who is going to save the country. Give me strength.

I'm a Labour party member. Did you want to keep Starmer despite the catastrophic local election results?

I am hoping that Burnham takes the government to the left. The Starmer government didn't feel like a Labour government to me.

Yesterday, for example, he made a very valuable contribution to the current debate, counting how many times Andy Pandy looked down at his notes when he gave his speech at the TUC. I'm like a broken record sorry but when the job of PM is handed to someone on a plate that person should be a serving MP of at least 6months. It is so concerning how this has happened. I don't care that King Andy was something 10 years ago in Parliament it should be someone with a current proven experience directly related to the post.

I wanted to have a say if there was going to be a change of leader. Burnham has run twice before and we were very clear that we didn’t want him. But his arrogance and ego has driven him to seek power by any means and our spineless MPs have enabled him. It’s disgusting.

Then again I despise politics of envy, political parties that allow blatant anti-Semitism to run rampant and policies that penalise those who take financial risks to start businesses. The scenario you've outlined could have happened at any time in our history. There is no need for a precedent to be set, as this isn't some form of landmark test of law.
It does however serve as a cautionary tale for anyone considering voting for parties with strong associations with extremists like Tommy Robinson.

Assumes that Reform has a significant majority - not likely due to tactical voting.
Assumes other parties all fight the by election - you might get a unity candidate to beat Robinson.
Assumes the safe seat is in fact a safe seat - the electorate might not play, AB was born near Makerfield, he’s local.

But if that does happen then it is allowed by the UK constitution, so be it. The UK constitution is quirky it doesn’t always do what people expect but it tends to get the job done. Also, democracy doesn’t always go the way you want, that’s why you need to engage, get involved, campaign and fight.
