To be sick to death of Andy Burnham already

I'm sick to death already of seeing Andy Burnham and hearing his voice. And he isnt even PM yet. Come back Keir Starmer. All is forgiven. I dont know how I'm going to suffer 3 or four more years of him in charge. Playing the part of the working class hero who is going to save the country. Give me strength.

They do. Very much so. Kier Starmer and Angela Rayner both have a very irritating nasal whine, very hard to listen to - there’s a reason voice coaches are a thing!

For fucks sake! The man isn’t even PM yet. Give him a chance, he could well be just what our country needs. You’re judging him before he’s actually done anything. He’s been amazing in Manchester, a city which now has more growth than any other city in our country.

I am from Wigan and a couple of years older. DH is from a place v close to where Andy Burnham grew up. Andy Burnham's background sounds typical - he went to a state school and would have had a fairly comfortable but not what I would term middle class up bringing because none of us did. To get to Cambridge from that place and that school you'd have to be exceptional. I went to a similar school back then and one person made it to Oxbridge and only a few more into higher education. Call him what you want but Andy Burnham is not posh.

I have no problem Andy Burnham’s being northern, his accent or his education. What don’t like - and find extraordinary- is his having been parachuted in when he wasn’t even an MP until very recently.

Yes, the Tories changed leader, but at least the people who became PM were sitting MPs who had stood for parliament under the manifesto that we (or at least some of us) had voted for. There was also a process within the party and televised debates which enabled the general public to see what we thought of the candidates and their policies, even though of course most of us didn’t have a chance to vote.

There will be thread after thread like this. Some are utterly dedicated to posting anti-Labour rhetoric and it is utterly pointless arguing with them. I am not sure what they actually want, though. Badenoch currently has little chance of winning a GE, so I assume they want the corrupt Farage. Or perhaps relentless political instability in the UK is their only agenda, along with stirring up hatred.

This muddles up intonation with accents. An accent is related to a place. Intonation is how the voice is produced, including a nasal sound, rise and fall during a sentence, pitch and so on
