AIBU with my reaction to DP’s humiliating TikTok?

I have had 4 different friends message me today to say they saw a video which included my partner on TikTok. There’s a local account which always posts videos of interviews with the public and businesses particularly people on nights out and drunk. DP watched the England game in a bar so was out really late, and was interviewed on the street after. Everyone was really jubilant, the person filming asked him “after such a long night, do you have anything left in the tank” and he replied “that’s for me to know and the missus to find out when I’m home” to a load of laughter.

I was asleep with our DS and up early so I obviously wasn’t waiting up for him. I’ve told him I don’t see the funny side and he has just said he was absolutely plastered, really buzzing after the match and got carried away so I should just laugh it off. Am I wrong to still find it offensive?

I’d cringe a lot and take the piss out of him a fair bit - it’s a bit grim but it’s not the end of the world. Nor can it be undone.

summitfever · Yesterday 22:02

Is he a good guy otherwise?

DaysIllRememberAllMyLife · Yesterday 22:02

I can be a bit prickly but this wouldn't bother me.

FeistyFrankie · Yesterday 22:02

Chill OP.

Livpool · Yesterday 22:02

Personally? I honestly wouldn’t care or give this a second thought.

In the main, he is I would say. I think it’s that this was so public and seen by my friends which is irksome.

I appreciate why you dont like it, but I do think you are over-reacting slightly.

He was drunk, elated with the win and tried for a jokey response to the question. I totally get why it lands different when you are sober in the morning, rather than when drunk at the time.

Just put it down to drunken ramblings, he definitely didn't try to deliberately demean or humiliate you.

The people who reacted (likely also drunk) are just laughing at the joke, not at you.

All the best!

FionnulaTheCooler · Yesterday 22:04

There's far worse things he could have done while drunk, I speak from bitter experience here. It was a daft drunken joke and it'll soon be forgotten about and some other tiktok video will take its place.

BeenzManeenz · Yesterday 22:04

I wouldn't be too impressed, but is he always like this? It's usually only a certain type of bloke who makes locker room jokes like that and I personally wouldn't want to be in a relationship with someone like that.

But perhaps a one off? I cant tell from your OP.

You’ve got a child so presumably all your friends are aware you have sex, so I’m not sure why him referencing you having sex is humiliating. It’s a bit cringe and I’d roll my eyes, but it’s not that bad.

youngestisapsycho · Yesterday 22:07

I laughed at it…. 😆

Garfieldloveslasagnepie · Yesterday 22:07

I don’t this there’s anything wrong with this. I’d probably laugh at it and send it to my mum

Oliwiaa · Yesterday 22:08

It's a little bit cringe but I wouldn't be upset about it.

FWIW I would probably have said something similar about my husband as it’s just our sense of humour

How on earth did you read that as asking for wank fodder? Fairly certain they were taking the piss saying you clearly didn't get any, based on your OP.

This wouldn't bother me. I think it is rather funny.

Rhetorically.
