AIBU with my reaction to DP’s humiliating TikTok?

Weeks76 · Yesterday 22:00

I have had 4 different friends message me today to say they saw a video which included my partner on TikTok. There’s a local account which always posts videos of interviews with the public and businesses particularly people on nights out and drunk. DP watched the England game in a bar so was out really late, and was interviewed on the street after. Everyone was really jubilant, the person filming asked him “after such a long night, do you have anything left in the tank” and he replied “that’s for me to know and the missus to find out when I’m home” to a load of laughter.

I was asleep with our DS and up early so I obviously wasn’t waiting up for him. I’ve told him I don’t see the funny side and he has just said he was absolutely plastered, really buzzing after the match and got carried away so I should just laugh it off. Am I wrong to still find it offensive?

I appreciate the over whelming view here and I’m not going to argue it, I suppose I need to get over it. Thanks for the brutal honesty, I’m going to drop out now.

It was a drunken comment. If it’s a one off I’d let it pass.

Booboobagins · Yesterday 23:06

Laugh it off.

Seriously it's cringeworthy, but you need to take it with a pinch of salt.

Loubissou · Yesterday 23:09

He got caught on the spot by someone with a camera looking for a comment and offered up a jokey riposte. At 3am after a few drinks, it really isn't in the least offensive.

SENsupportplease · Yesterday 23:13

I think this was normal honesty, it’s not tipped into brutal yet 😂

LouiseMadetheBestBroccoliPasta · Yesterday 23:13

It's such a dull joke for a start. Boring Benny Hill crap.

And he's talking about his intimate sex life with his wife. Why doesn't he instead say, well I'm going to go home and wank to porn until I come hahaha see what a fit bloke I am!

But he doesn’t do that. He makes his wife an object in his "manly" performance. Which is also really dull.

I can’t get over the cringe of them having the mental image of me doing the no pants dance to be honest!

You are a prude. That's quite clear from your responses to everyone finding your DPs comment funny - me included.
Sex is normal, especially between two consenting adults who have chosen to build a life together.
Being private is fine, but we all know that couples have sex, especially couples with children.
Honestly OP, lighten up.
And as for the wank fodder response...... get a grip.

LittleGreenShoots · Yesterday 23:23

I don't find this so bad, and I'm a private person. He didn't get too crude and it's not necessarily disrespectful. It sounds like he was happy and his thoughts were coming home to be with his wife. It's kind of sweet. I thought you were going to say he was leering or making suggestive comments about other women.

He's done nothing wrong. It's all these muppets filming everything at all times, normalising taking away our human right to live a private life (i.e. to not be famous). Direct your anger at the people recording and uploading, not at him.

Exactly this!

whiteumbrella · Yesterday 23:48

I read the first few comments and am now wondering if there’s something wrong with me. I’m imagining DP doing it and me laughing. I need help!

JuvenileBigfoot · Yesterday 23:50

Wouldn't bother me and I am notoriously highly strung!

FinallyACheapSixWeeksSchoolHoliday · Today 00:01

@Weeks76 oh it’s highly cringe and embarrassing for you but as he was plastered it could have been so, so much worse.

It’ll be forgotten about next week.

I agree with this. But I am a gen Xer and we tend to have more of a sense of humour and are much less easily offended.
Bloody hell people are boring fun sponges who can't have a laugh these days.

99bottlesofkombucha · Today 00:25

Good call op, I’m pretty sensitive about disrespect but I’d let this one go.

You seem very uptight and prudish, lighten up ffs

The no pants dance really made me cringe! Op need's to just say sex honestly, it’s so much less embarrassing.

Odditea · Today 00:31

Cringe but he was plastered and in good spirits for good reason. Let this one slide

Weeks76 · Yesterday 22:12

  1. Read my OP again
  2. Go elsewhere if you are looking for wank fodder

HTH

Wow! Do you over-react to everything?

It's fairly obvious she does. I think her DP's reply was pretty good in the circumstances.

Mumtobabyhavoc · Today 01:12

"after such a long night, do you have anything left in the tank”

I'm not sure the inference is clear, but your DH obv made it a sex reference. What is he usually like? How does he typically speak about you and your relationship? Was this totally out of character? Is it a pattern of disrespect?

SeaAndSangria · Today 01:54

I did an actual lol
That was quite funny 😁
YABU, it was clearly a joke. Chill.
(Oh, and I'm not looking for wank fodder before you start 🙄)
Bet you only replied to that poster in such a snotty way as they have a male sounding username, par for the course on MN.
Nothing in their comment suggested anything of the sort.

Just catching up with the rest of the thread, it's late 😁 (early?!)

nam3c4ang3 · Today 02:01

Fucking hell op - lighten the fuck up! are you always wound this tight?! ‘No pants dance’ - I’ve read it all now 😂🥴
