I'm no fan of Trump, but until this red card nonsense I hoped the USA would do well. I always think it's good when the tournament hosts do well.
But now it's come out that Trump personally called FIFA to get the red card removed? Absolute joke. It’s blatant corruption. I really hope Belgium absolutely humiliate them.

I think whether it should have been a red card isn't the main point. There are plenty of decisions that could be challenged. That's just the nature of the game.

It’s an utter disgrace .. we all know FIFA is corrupt, and when Infantino gave the big baby the “inaugural FIFA Peace Prize”, we pretty much knew he had been bought. To be that blatant about it now, with Trump admitting he called him to get it suspended is jaw dropping.

I'm an american and I hope they don't play him too. Trump corrupts everything he touches. The playing of the world cup was mercifully free of him until this.

I find what has happened absolutely incredible and disgusting. Sport is meant to be fair and meddling like this has no place. It’s a massive thing and I agree also an own goal.

They should be banned from hosting and excluded from participating further in this competition.

I’m not sure that is entirely fair to the team though. Or Balogun. Presumably, it had nothing to do with them. I almost hesitate to say it but it’s not really the Orange one’s fault either - we all know what he’s like, and he can ask but he should have been told a firm no.

Belgian here. So hope they absolutely bury the USA team. Bunch of disgusting cheats (with the Orangutan being the worst cheat of all). And of course they've now got the Jordanian ref who will be just as corrupt so as not to upset the Orangutan's vast financial aid to Jordan.

I guess one 'good' thing about Trump is that he's blatant and open about his corruption so it gets more attention - though there aren't more consequences it seems.

I guess there was no way the tournament would pass without Trump inserting himself and creating some form of drama. It's an absolute disgrace. The USA are obviously not going to win the world cup, there's no need for this meddling. He just doesn't get that Europe and South America are much much better at football than any North American nation, and he can't just win because he fancies it. And now FIFA are cheating with an appeal. It seems that Belgium’s FA asked for clarification of the situation, FIFA said "That's an appeal! You've got 2 hours to give us the exact details!" giving Belgium no time to get an appeal sorted.
