AIBU to hope the USA crash out the World Cup because of this FIFA corruption?

I'm no fan of Trump, but until this red card nonsense I hoped the USA would do well. I always think it's good when the tournament hosts do well.
But now it's come out that Trump personally called FIFA to get the red card removed? Absolute joke. It’s blatant corruption. I really hope Belgium absolutely humiliate them.

I think whether it should have been a red card isn't the main point. There are plenty of decisions that could be challenged. That's just the nature of the game.

In what world was USA ever going to win this World Cup? Have you watched any of the tournament?

of course the ISA could win the world cup, as could any team that’s still involved at this late stage of the tournament.

Yes, because all teams should "crash out" because all sports are rigged and corrupt. Sorry to break it to you. No need to single out Americans.

Has any other country’s president / leader called to meddle liked this before? So American team is getting unfair advantage and people are rightly disgusted by the whole thing. I would want US to lose tonight’s match too. In last 6 months, all they have done is caused one problem after another to the world and now can’t even let us enjoy the football world cup without their meddling.

Okay let’s see then 😂

I think every time Infantino or Trump are seen on the screens at the games they will be booed.

And the same for Balogun, although he is collateral damage in this - his reputation will be ever tarnished by this and he didn't even ask for it.

Please leave orangutans alone they’ve done nothing wrong.

If you fancy losing a day you should check out orangutan jungle school on youtube. Best thing ever.

He's also presenting the cup which is totally against protocol. His buddy made a special exception. All the wrinkled orange ballsack has to do is click his fingers.

He blatantly cheats at golf because no one dares to call him out so I imagine he will do all he can to 'fix' it so he's presenting to 'his' own team. Maybe not likely but he will absolutely think it is.

Meanwhile, at least there is this: https://www.thepoke.com/2026/06/22/trumps-homeland-security-tried-to-brag-about-the-american-mens-football-team-and-it-turned-into-the-most-embarrassing-own-goal-of-the-world-cup/?utm_source=Facebook&utm_medium=pic&utm_campaign=facebookpic&fbclid=IwY2xjawS5DkJleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETE5cFJGa2tpNEhNczNVU1Rnc3J0YwZhcHBfaWQQMjIyMDM5MTc4ODIwMDg5MgABHi8f8oeXSMBrgoRclhJGCKQnYF6IJaiv6mOc4CwADi6V-fWfc-lt8ZSm4t23_aem_VnBMX89WNxVRRmFuHzzypw

Trump's Homeland Security tried to brag about the American men's football team and it turned into the most embarrassing own goal of the World Cup

The United States Men’s National Soccer Team is having a moment in the World Cup. Americans are riding high after their team won two consecutive matches and clinched the top spot in Group D. This is not normal for the stars and stripes. The good vibes...

Do you think Trump is unique? Do you think he's so intelligent that he is the only one to have thought to do this or do you think he did it, because it's the done thing, but decided to broadcast it for some reason?

The people who should be being roasted for this are not Team USA who had nothing to do with this. It's FIFA and they're corrupt as fuck and Trump knew that. But let's not pretend that this is the first time this has happened it's just Big Gob Orange Man is the first one to boast about it within 10 minutes of the agreement.

IAmKerplunk · Yesterday 01:37

Genuine question - when has a red card been cancelled at a World Cup match before?

Honestly, I didn't want them to win because football is one of the few international sports they don't dominate over. Now, though I appreciate it's not the players' fault, the idea that the President can just ring up like an angry Dad and change the decision made in a match just puts the tin lid on it.

What international sports do they dominate besides athletics, basketball, grid iron and "the world series " baseball?

No, but other democratic heads of state have more ethics, more statesmanship, more sportsmanship.

Trump behaves (again) like a grubby, third world dictator.

Go Belgium, Good riddance USA

Good riddance all football.

Maybe one day, society will wake up and decide to focus on things that matter so that the patricians profit less from the fantastical distractions of the plebeians.
