I mean really, this is just pathetic. No one is believing that KC couldn’t find a spare bed for his son. AIBU to think that as the parent KC needs to get a grip and grow up instead of just fuelling the drama?

Buckingham Palace says Prince Harry will not stay at palace

Royal sources say the Duke of Sussex had not responded to the offer of accommodation at a Royal residence by the deadline last week.

I think Harry wants it all his own way and he’s just not getting that he’s just not getting it.
He had an offer here but didn’t get organised.
Clearly wanted a triumphant family return but didn’t get that. Him and his wife need some pics with KC soon as it’s part of their Sussed brand as in to stay Royal.
He has picked the worst week to come. Between the football and Wimbledon he’s going to find himself low in terms of the spotlight.

Maybe William wasn't happy about it.

Well, he cheated on their mum, and the saying goes that the most important thing any parent can do for their child is to love their other parent.
But some people would say that was years ago so forget it.

At least Charles only cheated with one person and that was the person he should’ve been with all along. Diana had numerous affairs.

Heyhelga · 06/07/2026 16:52

The royal family are quite odd in their protocols. Does seem genuinely pedantic about deadlines for asking to stay over etc and then releasing a statement stating so. Harry's relationship with the family seems to be pretty much beyond repair.

Letting your sons be paraded around in public after their mum dies

That was down to Blair and the Great British Public. The RF wanted to keep the boys at Balmoral where they could be looked after out of public view. The GBP howled for the Queen to return to London (as if their grief for someone they had never met was somehow more important than that of Diana's own family) and it was Blair who pushed for them to walk in the funeral procession.

There are many adults who have a less than perfect childhoods. Some grow up with abuse and trauma. Most just have to get on with being an adult. They don't have the luxury of constant complaining.
Harry has no job and £millions. It's not too much to expect the courtesy of advance warning for arrangements.

And their mum repeatedly cheated on their dad, so what’s your point?

Have you any idea what organisation would go into putting Harry and his entourage into an apartment? What do you think the security measures would need to be?

Victorius19 · 06/07/2026 16:54

Totally agree, those two boys should never have been paraded so publicly at Diana's funeral. There was no need at all for a public funeral, and a memorial held later for the celebrities demanding attention from having spoken to her once would have sufficed. I think the late Queen was very right to keep them at Balmoral - the public baying for blood that week was heinous.

SoSoLong · 06/07/2026 16:55

I don't know how things are done in the Royal family, but I tend to give my mum more than 2 days notice if I need her to put me up for a few days.

I must be doing it wrong though as I've failed to notify the press through my spokesperson of my imminent arrival to my ancestral home with my family /without family /maybe with family /definitely without family but maybe they are coming later.

Mayben Wiliam's too busy with his engagements and his family to pay heed to the latest Sussex drama. Maybe Harry isn't the centre of their lives, much as he would wish it.

It was a frankly disgusting display!

I'm in sure the security needs planning for sure but it does all feel a bit last-minute.com on Harry's part to be fair.

I think Charles is a good dad, and I think Harry is a good son. The media have an interest in creating drama.

Where’s your evidence for this? I mean I couldn’t give a fuck either way but it’s an interesting statement with absolutely no evidence that he was a good dad 🤷‍♀️

Royals, generally, are crap parents. Too busy being royal.

Laura95167 · 06/07/2026 16:58

Harry irritates me no end. He wanted to cease being a working royal, fine. But then he loses the perks. He travels for "tours" without public funded security in other countries so why is it a problem here?

Hes not some dignatory, hes just a young man visiting his dad. So he can come or not come.. but i wish hed stop messing everyone around and blaming everyone else

I agree. I think that William got past it and moved on because he decided to. He engaged with therapy, has focused on his happy marriage and his lovely children. You can't change the past, but you can come to terms with it.

MaidOfSteel · 06/07/2026 16:59

I’d say, going by how spoiled Harry clearly is, that the King was a very indulgent and incredibly forgiving father.

I agree. Harry was asked to confirm by Friday, either way. He officially confirmed on Saturday that he wasn't coming. Then he changed his mind.
I have no idea why people blame KC for this.

EverMissWicklowSometimes · 06/07/2026 17:00

He's always been a crap dad. Prince William was injured by a golf club at school as a kid and needed surgery. Charles went to the opera rather than stay at the hospital with him and Diana.

Ladybyrd · 06/07/2026 17:01

Appalling. I don’t think you could get much worse. I think my favourite video is him trying to teach William to play fetch.

You’d think with all the effort the palace have put in to making sure the split is reframed as not the Kings fault, that the King is here for his son whenever he wants to come home, that he was offering a place to stay, the PR team carefully dripping stories to frame Charles as just a hopeful loving grandad who’d love to see his dgc, the staff who’ve worked bloody hard on that will be furious at this fuck up! Of course the room should have been prepared as though harry was staying no matter what, and they knew when he’d be over as they knew about the court case. If Harry then chose to stay at a hotel, they could have framed that as poor Charles, slaughted fatted calf just to be stood up etc. Now the King just looks petty and it highlights he’s got several properties in London that no one is living in.

Poorly handled by the King. They should expect harry to be all over the show.

(whichever way Harrys court case goes, it’s going to be drama from that too)

And herein lies the issue
Do you really think that it’s just “the room should have been prepared”??You just think it’s a case of making sure the bed has fresh sheets??
It’s Buckingham Palace -not the Premier Inn!
Harry’s ‘team’ (why he needs a team is beyond me. He is a jobless private citizen) were told he needed to make a decision by Friday. On Saturday they advised Harry would not be staying. Then Harry’s ‘team’ decided this morning he WOULD be staying - BP told him No, itwas too late.
This is because it’s too late to sort out the staff security etc needed. Doyou think there are a load of people milling round waiting to be allocated in case Harry turns up?
I don’t know why you think it’s the Kings PR that have been ‘dripping’ stories when we know that Harry's special WhatsApp group of reporters were furious with the Messing round/changing story from Monteshitshow.
It’s a continuation of the drama that follows H&M - but not the King who just wants to get on with his duty.

Harry is a bloody awful son. Stupid, entitled, ungrateful.

diddl · 06/07/2026 17:03

All the property they have & he's offered somewhere that is currently being renovated?

Seems odd.

So will it be just him?

Have the places he used to have gone to others now?

thenightsky · 06/07/2026 17:04

King finally gets tough with Prince Harry

Pallisers · 06/07/2026 17:05

Both Charles and Diana had difficult childhoods themselves - her especially. That and the public scrutiny, the mis-matched marriage, the weirdness in general of the royal family - they were pretty doomed. Both boys were going to be troubled anyway because of the public revelations by both their parents, the tell-all books, the interviews on tv about the marriage from both of them, the divorce. Diana's death and the horrendous public funeral was the last straw.

William made a good decision in marrying a woman from a highly functional, normal, upper middle class family. I'd say it was an eye-opener for him to see how families can work. People imagine that William and Harry came back from Eton for the weekend to some sort of normal family set up - supper in the kitchen with mum or dad or granny. I doubt it.
