I mean really, this is just pathetic. No one is believing that KC couldn’t find a spare bed for his son. AIBU to think that as the parent KC needs to get a grip and grow up instead of just fuelling the drama?

No man who treats his children’s mother as badly as he treated Diana can ever be regarded as a good dad

I'll just leave this here

😂

It’s not really clear what’s gone on in this situation but it doesn’t reflect well on any of them to have this sort of pettiness played out in public.

aCatCalledFawkes · 06/07/2026 17:21

Two things can be true at the same time. Obviously Harry has made some terrible decisions, and he keeps doing it. He can't seem to let things go and just gets further and further in to trouble.

It doesn't mean KC was the best Dad ever though, even William admits he doesn't want to bring his kids up like himself and Harry were brought up.

At the end of the day it's all really sad that it has come to this.

The "dickish" move was Harry's when he ignored the invitation, ignored the deadline and then expected the metropolitan Police to magic up full protection cover in a matter 24 hours. Not to mention, expecting all the practical arrangements for housing him and his entourage in BP to be in place at the drop of a hat.

Ideas above one's station springs to mind.

It's been explained upthread. KC hasn't been petty

Whorulestheroost1 · 06/07/2026 17:24

Oh God not another article about Harry, I mean arent we all totally bored to death of him by now? Nobody gives a shit surely (except the Daily Mail).

What about a man who trashes his family for money? Is Harry a good dad to his children when "Spare" is out there for them to read?

palron · 06/07/2026 17:26

Not that I give a shiny shite, but since I'm reading this thread.....

Charles is afraid of William, so he will do nothing to upset him, therefore H is out in the cold. I reckon Camilla is also fiery about H and Charles is terrified of both of them.

If neither of them were around I reckon Charles would be pleased to see his son and DIL and GCs. Poor man.

However, his track record during his marriage to Diana was abysmal, and the sons were traumatised by his behaviour and the death of their mother. The scars run deep.

So there.

There is plenty out there directly from Charles and Diana for William and Harry to read/view in a similar vein so that is not really a great argument.

The security relief at Buck House would have to be rescheduled. Remember KCII doesn't actually live there.

So for Harry to stay, they would need to put a protection squad on nights, plus catering and house staff. Harry is supposed to arrive tomorrow. Police rotas will have been fixed for the week, resources allocated.

Are you expecting the Met to call in a corridor officer plus wider protection team and driver from rest days or give overtime at 24 hours notice? That's absurd.

If Harry wanted to stay, he should have accepted a week ago when he had the chance.

Harry does love to cause a drama and then whine doesn't he ! Anyone normal with manners would have accepted KCII's kind offer a week ago.

That is a very odd and stupid thing to do. He was a member of the RF for a very long time, surely he knows how it works? Or maybe they grow up not having to lift a finger to do anything because they are surrounded by lackeys at all times, then they are just incapable of following a simple instruction? Surely he can't even book a hotel in time!

Every parent has a limit including KC.

Harry is a shameful deluded traitor and I’m not surprised he’s had enough of the spoilt brat and his demands.

Somehow, I doubt that he's plotting the death of the Monarch, starting a military insurrection within the confines of the United Kingdon & Ireland or the Commonwealth, spying for hostile states or pointing a firearm at him.

Oh, you weren't actually accusing him of Treason? That was just overemotional hyperbole to try and convey how much you believe various media stories that get clicks and make money out of winding up the overly credulous?

So, Harry, as usual is excused. Got it 👍

I really enjoyed Spare. We read it for Book Club and I was surprised at how good it was - it’s infinitely more measured than its tabloid reputation suggests.

Tableforjoan · 06/07/2026 17:31

Also it likely wasn’t even Charles that said no after the deadline.

It will be the estate manager who made the decision that it was too short notice.

He may be King Charles but I bet with a lot of things he is told what to do by managers it’s their job to make things run smoothly.

He probably got a told harry tried to change his mind, told him no as there is another enough time. King rolls his eyes about indecisive son 🙄

Pleased to see him? After everything he's said and done? That's rich.

I have to admit I find it so distasteful how desperate people are to hear KC disown his son. Imagine falling out with your son and then people cheering you on because you have had to make difficult decisions. I would be broken if this happened to me with either of my children and would do my best to not let either go even if they had done something like this.

Looks to me like a case of FAFO from H. And I think that’s the whole issue from the start. He tests, he pushes and he doesn’t get the outcome he wants/expects, he panics and doubles down. It’s a shame because once upon a time I think he was probably one of the most popular Royals.

I think you're correct, he tests and pushes and doubles down.

It looks like H left it very late when he declined the offer, then later still changed his mind, but. when then told it was too late his people make a pr statement to stay he's staying at BP - why make that public statement when they knew it wasn't true, was it to force BP to back down and make arrangements to accommodate him?

That attempted manipulation backfired, thankfully, if that was the intention.

MargaretThursday · 06/07/2026 17:38

You know, if my dad said to me, that I was welcome to stay when I'm coming up to his area area for a work trip, but please let me know by Friday if you want to stay. On Saturday I let him know I wasn't staying.
On Monday, he hears via my cousin that I'd put on Facebook that I was coming today and expecting to stay at his house, so he sent me a message saying he couldn't do it at such short notice.

I don't think anyone would think he was unreasonable. No one would say that he was a bad dad for that anyway.

And it would be far harder for KC to arrange it with everything that PH would come with, than for my Dad arranging for me on my own.

HarryKaneHarryKane · 06/07/2026 17:38

I don’t generally take much notice of the RF.
So, can any one explain to me why Harry needs/must have such a high level of security? I gather the Prince and Princess of Wales move around the country and we don’t know about it til after, likewise any other celeb or famous person… Soooo, why is Harry different?
Is it a genuine threat? Have they got an inflated idea of their own importance?
Who is the perceived security risk about - him, MM, the children?

I seriously don’t understand it?

If he just came here quietly, would anyone actually
notice, or even care?
Other folk manage to move around unseen, why not him? 🤷‍♀️

AClassicTrenchcoat · 06/07/2026 17:38

Harry makes money at creating royal drama, its their currency. He will no doubt have a pity party interview in a few weeks. Blubbering manchild.

nocoolnamesleft · 06/07/2026 17:39

I don’t think Charles is a good father, and some of the press do seem to have it in for Harry and Megan, but on this occasion Harry fucked around and found out. He left it too late to organise the logistics.

Of course he would be pleased to see him. If you read back my post, I said he would be happy to see him if for example William and Camilla were away in Australia or New Zealand at the time. He won't do it right now though as he is terrified of both of them. 😊
