I mean really, this is just pathetic. No one is believing that KC couldn’t find a spare bed for his son. AIBU to think that as the parent KC needs to get a grip and grow up instead of just fuelling the drama?

Buckingham Palace says Prince Harry will not stay at palace

Royal sources say the Duke of Sussex had not responded to the offer of accommodation at a Royal residence by the deadline last week.

I agree with you @mintleavesandthyme, I don’t think Charles has been the best dad.
His first massive mistake was to cut H’s money off. He’s a billionaire who can well afford ford to bankroll Harry, with the proviso - you do NOT give interviews bout there’s Tod the family. Instead he cuts off his money and H then has to go off and earn cash. Hence the interviews, book and Netflix deals.

A very misjudged decision.

Most parents wouso move heaven and earth to see their grandchildren, Charles obviously doesn’t care.

For a start he didn’t cut him off, KC continued to bank roll them for a year after they left the institution, you can refer to the accounts for that year, and seriously do you really expect that someone should continue to receive a salary when they leave their job? Harry has or had millions when he left, it’s not up to KC to fund his middle aged sons wannabe Hollywood lifestyle.

Not based on this story

Letting your sons be paraded around in public after their mum dies then sending them off to boarding school yes absolutely awful

They were both sent to boarding school at aged 8. Diana was happy with this arrangement.
Sendimg them back to school after she died was eminently sensible. They needed the structure, routine and familiarity -and tobe kept busy.
As for the ‘parading them’ - from my understanding it seems that Philip thought William would regret not walking behind the coffin so offered to walk with him and Harry wanted to do it because William was. It can’t hve been a great experience but equally if they had been told they couldn’t no doubt Harry would be bleating on about that now.

And herein lies the issue
Do you really think that it’s just “the room should have been prepared”??You just think it’s a case of making sure the bed has fresh sheets??
It’s Buckingham Palace -not the Premier Inn!
Harry’s ‘team’ (why he needs a team is beyond me. He is a jobless private citizen) were told he needed to make a decision by Friday. On Saturday they advised Harry would not be staying. Then Harry’s ‘team’ decided this morning he WOULD be staying - BP told him No, itwas too late.
This is because it’s too late to sort out the staff security etc needed. Doyou think there are a load of people milling round waiting to be allocated in case Harry turns up?
I don’t know why you think it’s the Kings PR that have been ‘dripping’ stories when we know that Harry's special WhatsApp group of reporters were furious with the Messing round/changing story from Monteshitshow.
It’s a continuation of the drama that follows H&M - but not the King who just wants to get on with his duty.

Harry is a bloody awful son. Stupid, entitled, ungrateful.

They are all entitled though.

the king thinks we should pay for HIS son’s security. No thanks!

He declined the offer. Then after the deadline decided to accept it.

This is not popping to dads for a night. This is staying in a palace that’s currently empty. It’s needing staff and security.

Those staff and security alone deserve more than a sudden 48 hour your now working which is why there are deadlines.

People look at it as just visiting family when it’s really not. It’s a whole business.

HelenaWilson · 06/07/2026 17:07

hes just a young man....

Young man? He's pushing 42.

On another thread there's 36yo Taylor Swift described as a 'girl'.

Where does the infantilisation end?

WhatWouldMyMamaSay · 06/07/2026 17:07

Extremely cruel of Charles. He doesn’t look like he’s in best of of health, and for all we know the cancer he has could be terminal. Really no need for such a dickish move, and then to publicly announce it too.

Also, bank roll your adult son whose other source of income is trashing you?
Good grief.

People don't understand. Genuinely, have no idea of what security entails.

No. Harry thinks that the UK taxpayer should fund his security, completely. Even though he doesn't live here.

Craftysue · 06/07/2026 17:10

It's just sad that it's taking attention away from the Invictus games- I've hardly heard anything about the main reason for his visit.

I wonder if harry forgot it just never realised when he lived here how much of all of this was done behind the scenes because he was here permanently and they had his diary.

Or is he just an entitled sod thinking everyone should jump regardless because he is a prince after all!!

Can you provide a link please?

How? An invite was sent with a deadline. PH couldn't be arsed to respond in time and is now whining that he can't stay.

Yes, I suspect he took it all for granted; housekeeping, chefs, valet service, drivers, travel arrangements, security. Probably just thought it all appeared like magic.

He'll still have staff managing his diary and travel arrangements now?

What a bizarre accusation, William was already boarding at Eton when Diana was alive and Harry didn't start till a year after she died.

Are you saying William should have been taken out of the school he was really happy at and described as 'a haven' from the media circus?

Harry is a 41yr old man. He grew up in the monarchy and should know how it operates. The King is old, has cancer and shocker, has a lot of shit to do as head of state rather than catering to the needs of his manchild son and his wife.

But, this is an entertaining thread of rage bait that just makes the British public LOL.

the decision doesn’t rest with Charles and I’m surprised to find that you don’t think a multimillionaire at age 42 should support himself.

Harry irritates me no end. He wanted to cease being a working royal, fine. But then he loses the perks. He travels for "tours" without public funded security in other countries so why is it a problem here?

Hes not some dignatory, hes just a young man visiting his dad. So he can come or not come.. but i wish hed stop messing everyone around and blaming everyone else

Agree with this sort from Harry being a young man. He is a 41 year old married man with 2 kids. He stopped being a young man at least a decade ago

The "dickish" move was Harry's when he ignored the invitation, ignored the deadline and then expected the metropolitan Police to magic up full protection cover in a matter 24 hours. Not to mention, expecting all the practical arrangements for housing him and his entourage in BP to be in place at the drop of a hat.

catspyjamas1 · 06/07/2026 17:19

HelenaWilson · 06/07/2026 16:08

Harry was offered accommodation at Buckingham Palace.
No member of the Royal Family is currently living at Buckingham Palace.
If someone were to stay there, arrangements about security, housekeeping, catering, other staff as required, would need to be made.
Therefore Harry, quite reasonably, was asked to confirm whether he wanted to stay there and who if anyone would be accompanying him.
He didn't confirm, and it's now too late to make the necessary arrangements.
None of which has anything to do with the King's parenting skills.

Exactly this. It's not that hard.

God this is such a non story. I love the Royal family but couldn’t be less interested in this and it’s got nothing to do with Charles as a father.

I don't care in the slightest about the royal family in terms of royalty, but (like the Beckhams whom I don't care about either in that I don't "follow" their doings but can't help knowing about them despite my best efforts) I still find it really tragic to see a family tearing itself apart like that.

(I will venture the opinion that the Queen and her husband seem to have been terrible, distant parents, so if Charles is responsible for Harry's failings as an adult, then so too is the Queen at least partly responsible for Charles' own failings.)
