I really enjoyed the thread started by @openthefrontdoorthe other week which was a different take on those boring threads where someone posted a photo.

So I thought I’d start one myself. Not sure I’ll be quite as eloquent but I’ll give it my best shot to drop some random facts

  1. Growing up, my dad was clean shaven but for a most fantastic bushy moustache which he took great pride in.

  2. Our 1 tv in the house through most of my early years was rented from Radio Rentals and had a wire on the tv remote connecting it.

  3. My most treasured Christmas present ever was a Tiny Tears doll that could cry and wet herself

Apologies - I didn't read the thread- but I still guessed correctly ☺️💃. Lots of core memories for me there too OP 🥰

So well done to @QueenSteviewho was the first to correctly confirm I’m 45. Born 1980 (soon to be 46)

My lovely dad enjoyed grooming his big moustache and wore velor tracksuits at the weekend.

Our wired tv was a hand me down and in the late 80s my dad got quite a big promotion and we were able to get a second tv and it came with a company car (escort)

The magic roundabout was repeated through the 80s as was some mothers do have ‘em so I watched both growing up.

I got my first mobile when I was 17 and starting to go out and about.

And I watched the 90s revival of ‘The Generation Game’ with Bruce and the lovely Rosemary Ford which was our Saturday night tv!

Well done to those who also correctly guessed but I’d say the majority placed me a lot older which is interesting

Ah brilliant! I'm 44, nearly 45 and you sounded very similar to me!

Another great thread.

I remember going to stay with my Grandmother's brother and his wife just after finishing my O Levels in 1980 and they had a proper remote. I'd never even seen one before. Nobody had a remote around here but they lived in a swanky flat in Cardiff and I was mesmerised with it!

I also remember a discussion in the staff room of the secondary school where I taught around 1995-96. A pupil in year 10 had bought his Dad's huge brick-like phone to school and was showing it to the others in the yard. Just showing it, not using it! The Head came in and asked us all what we thought about it. None of the staff even had a mobile and the general consensus was that it was just a fad!

A bit late to the game, but I'd have guessed 45 as it's the same age as me!

And now the trickle of posts who’ve not read the updates from the OP and are still guessing based on the first post - these threads just wouldn’t be the same without them.😂

Anyway, good game, OP, good game!
