AIBU to think neighbours should not be naked in their garden?

For context: Our house is on a new build estate and the houses are pretty close together. It’s fairly easy to see into neighbours gardens because the trees etc are not well established yet.

AIBU to say my neighbours shouldn’t be naked in their garden. They are often out in the garden totally naked taking photos of themselves. They have parties quite often and it’s not uncommon for them and friends to be out in the garden naked / using the hot tub etc.

Am I being a killjoy ? Seems excessive to me.

Stop looking.

Lmnop22 · 25/06/2026 20:07

I think it’s fair enough to be naked in your own garden if your neighbours are literally having to peer through the shrubbery to see you.

Not so much if it’s literally open and obvious.

Sort of weird generally to have naked hot tub parties with friends whether the shrubbery is see through or not though…..

Btowngirl · 25/06/2026 20:08

Live and let live 🤷🏻‍♀️ why are you bothered and why do you keep looking?

1985goingbackagain · 25/06/2026 20:08

YANBU - I don’t think an overlooked new build garden is compatible with their lifestyle 😂

Sherararara · 25/06/2026 20:09

Ask if you can join them

Error404FucksNotFound · 25/06/2026 20:09

Try to avoid looking and give the trees plenty of food to help them grow. Maybe you could put some fake ivy on top of the fence in the short term.

Yabu. It's Soo hot. Why you looking

My son saw them out of his bedroom window.

Our house looks directly over their garden.

Chuck your car keys in the bowl and join in.

MaryBeardsShoes · 25/06/2026 20:11

Yeah, you’re not wrong OP. You’ll get plenty of people saying “stop looking” like it’s some kind of gotcha, but if you can be easily seen then you need to cover your bits.

ToKittyornottoKitty · 25/06/2026 20:11

Stop nosying into their garden, or if you are going to be a peeping tom atleast own it

hahabahbag · 25/06/2026 20:12

Sitting in their hot tub naked is pretty normal, having parties with lots of naked people or walking about naked more generally is odd to me but it’s in their garden so up to them

How old is your son? My girls see naked people at the gym changing room all the time and don’t bat an eyelid, maybe age related though as my eldest is only 4.

Do you live in Woolly Bush ?

AIBU to think neighbours should not be naked in their garden?
WerewolfOfLoudon · 25/06/2026 20:14

They aren't breaking any laws, put some blackout blinds in your son's room if you don't want him to see humans in their natural state.

PS don't ever go to a festival.

Omg someone donated that to the school fair and after hysterically laughing for way too long it’s now on my bookcase. Every page is a gem.

When i saw the title of this thread, for a second i thought i might be the naked neighbour. I was out in my garden at about 7am this morning checking my strawberries, fresh from the shower.

So obviously i think it's fine to be in your own garden naked. I would draw the line at naked parties if they are noisy or engaging in "bedroom stuff" or filming onlyfans. But just being naked and doing normal stuff shouldn't be bothering you.

I'm thinking they are likely to be naturists?

We’d just think this was really funny.

If we had a hot tub, we’d totally be naked in there. (I mean me and my husband, not if we had friends over)

Bigtrapeze · 25/06/2026 20:24

OP, don't look in their garden and you won't be offended and they will treat you with similar respect. Teach your son this too. I can't imagine he is too interested. People should be able to wear what they like in their gardens. If you don't like it, don't look.

OneZanyPoet · 25/06/2026 20:26

If the worst thing that happens to you today is you catch a glimpse of a human body before you choose to look away, consider yourself lucky. They can do whatever they want in their own garden, good for them.

Well the bit that got me was parties with naked people. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to be subjected to other people’s lifestyles in that way.
