AIBU to think neighbours should not be naked in their garden?

For context: Our house is on a new build estate and the houses are pretty close together. It’s fairly easy to see into neighbours gardens because the trees etc are not well established yet.

AIBU to say my neighbours shouldn’t be naked in their garden. They are often out in the garden totally naked taking photos of themselves. They have parties quite often and it’s not uncommon for them and friends to be out in the garden naked / using the hot tub etc.

Am I being a killjoy ? Seems excessive to me.

My son is 11. He thought it was most amusing.

Im not a Peeping Tom. I’m allowed to look out of a window in my own home and not be confronted by my neighbours cock surely ?? 😆

I'm thinking they are likely to be naturists?

It's possible. All the taking photos is a bit odd, but i suppose it could be for a naturist blog or something. As long as they're not being lewd and just doing normal stuff, they just sound like people who like being naked. It's not that uncommon.

Lurkingandlearning · 25/06/2026 20:28

Unless they are completely gormless they are doing it as some sort of defiant bravado. They know they can be seen by their neighbours and want those neighbours to see how free spirited and body confident they are. Seeing a naked body when you aren’t expecting to will give you a start/ surprise, but after that it’s a bit tedious really. Don’t give it any more currency than that.

It you do have to say something., please let it be how you admire their confidence and no care about showing off their unfortunate looking bodies

A good learning opportunity for your son that bodies are just bodies, we all have them, and seeing them does not have to be a big Thing.

Tell your son that if he doesn't like to see it he can look away, and you can also do the same.

Honestly I doubt it. From my involvement with naturists, I found them to be very, very careful not to be noticed.

Jellybunny98 · 25/06/2026 20:31

Well it’s their garden and so if they want to sunbathe or mow the lawn naked then they can, and that’s okay. I wouldn’t do it myself, but to each their own.

Our first house was a newbuild and the fences had gaps nearly the same size as the fence panels & every garden was easily easily about 6 other houses so it definitely wasn’t very private and didn’t feel private, was one of the reasons we moved. Fair play to them if they aren’t bothered I suppose, I used to feel under surveillance just cutting the grass😂

corblimeygvnr · 25/06/2026 20:31

Oh we need a diagram or this didn't happen 😂😂😂

Kids currently naked in the garden whilst I read this post 😅 glad to hear it’s not about me! (I am clothed)

You said it’s fairly easy to see them, so hardly cock in the face. But also you’ve listed quite a few times of seeing them, how much time do you really need to spend looking into your neighbours garden through your upstairs windows? It’s just not that big of a deal OP, it’s people in their own garden

SpottyAlpaca · 25/06/2026 20:36

Have you considered minding your own business, OP?

Another thread where posters on MN seem to inhabit a different world to the real one. It beggars belief that so many seem to think OP should be blasé about her neighbours cavirting about with theur friends naked in the garden.

Personally OP I"d be reporting them to the police and the police can decide whether they are actually committing a criminal offence. Or at least have words with them about consideration for others

But on the same reasoning they are entitled to be naked in their garden if they want without being peeped at.

Its just the human body, why does it bother you so much (unless he’s wiggling it at you seductively or wanking off, which is another thing entirely).

Yeah, you've done nothing wrong, you can look where you like. I'm glad to hear it doesn't bother your son.

Hopefully your neighbours are just naturists, in which case they are totally harmless. Do you think you could live with it? Is there a paticular behaviour that you uncomfortable with or wouldn't like your son to see?

EmailsaysOOO · 25/06/2026 20:38

Not for you to police your neighbours clothing levels

Quite. These sound more like swingers.

I thought I was going mad there for a minute. Tbh whilst I’m not totally outraged or particularly offended I’m not sure that it’s Ok either.

When my son saw them they were having a party and playing games with balloons where you have to pass it onto the next person. Most of them were naked doing this. My son was laughing his head off and told all and sundry.

Some of the other neighbours are getting their knickers in a twist about it all.

Cavorting?

The police don’t turn up for serious events, so good luck!

I’m not peeping like some weirdo. It’s hard to not look through a window what with them being see through and all that.

They might be insta-naturists. Literally no lifestyle can be done low key anymore 🙄

Well yeah of course they are! I live in a new build and just picturing my own layout, I know exactly just how exposed you are to other people’s gardens and simply ‘not looking’ means never looking out of your own window 🤣

They’re obviously swinging and that’s not for anyone to see.

You seem to look out of your upstairs window a lot! How big is the cock to see it from upstairs ?

Yeah, you’re not wrong OP. You’ll get plenty of people saying “stop looking” like it’s some kind of gotcha, but if you can be easily seen then you need to cover your bits.

This.
