Now THAT’S good! See the difference 🤦‍♀️😂

Thank you but trust me, it had flaws and my mind instantly glossed over anything nice and straight into the bad bits.
I've realised now that as long as the person receiving it is happy, that's all that matters.
Your daughter will love her cake! And even if she finds it 'embarrassing', later on she will realise it was perfect.

Also, if it tastes good (which I'm sure it will!), that's all you need 😁

Parrish · 23/06/2026 19:19

It's amazing....I always remember the cakes my mum made for me when I was growing up....she will love it!

Goodmorningeveryone26 · 23/06/2026 19:26

I don’t think the cake is embarrassing at all, OP. I think it’s adorable! Just don’t take it too seriously, or worry how it goes down. Anyone who gives a shit about how perfect the cake is is a twat

reelcat · 23/06/2026 19:29

Not embarrassing and super adorable! A lovely memory that you put in so much effort for your daughter

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 23/06/2026 19:33

I like it!

EyesOpening · 23/06/2026 19:37

For an 8yo's birthday party? Not at all (presuming they like capybaras, ofc!)
I'd be well chuffed to have produced that, it's 1000 times better than anything I could do and that is why I buy all birthday cakes! Stop beating yourself up.

NotherdrinkAnge · 23/06/2026 19:43

It looks fabulous..I'd be delighted to eat it!

PurpleFlower1983 · 23/06/2026 19:44

It’s lovely! And whoever has said it’s embarrassing is an absolute moron. It’s gorgeous and lovely to make your kids cakes. I’ve made all my kids’ so far and I love doing it for them even though they’re far from perfect!

Juststickitonthetopandcallitaday · 23/06/2026 14:50

You are all too kind as it’s quite obviously homemade 🤣
Dd having Capybara themed party, so not too babyish, but she’s going through a weird phase where she’s starting to get embarrassed by things, not sure if she’ll be disappointed and just really hate the thought of me embarrassing her.
We live in a very wealthy area and all custom made cakes, which I’ve had before, but have spent a lot on the venue and also sort of fed up with the perfect ones.
But I also feel sick at the thought of presenting this and am cringing a lot 😬 and wondering why I didn’t just go with the easier option!

I honestly thought it was professionally made until I saw your replies to some (IMHO) harsh comments.

Anyone who judges you for it, including your DD, needs to learn the value of things. A cake lovingly made by your mum or dad, is worth so much more than one made by someone paid to do it. And it’ll be legendary in the photos, in a way perfect, paid-for things can never be.

Authenticy rocks! No need to feel cringe 💐

It does look like a cake that has gone wrong and is trying to be save by things stuck on it.

I find it interesting that so many people fine it lovely. Perhaps they find it lovely just because someone made it rather than bought it.

I wouldnt mind having it at home with family, not sure about the party if you are worried about cheeky kids who are used to perfect professional cakes.

Harsh 😔

It’s because I work with children. Never underestimate their ability to do stupid things, like try and eat a plastic toy off the top of a cake! 🤣

I work with children too…the stupidity would be allowing them access to a piece of cake with the plastic toy on top. Will remove before dishing out (obviously)

No. It’s cute. I don’t recognise the theme but I’m guessing it’s a well known character and that a little kid would love it.

Blueberries0761 · 23/06/2026 20:02

The cake looks lovely!

Juststickitonthetopandcallitaday · 23/06/2026 16:52

Yes of course, I mean, just look at it 🤣

😂OP it's a brilliant cake, and a homemade cake is the absolute bee's knees. Have a lovely party.

AbzMoz · 23/06/2026 20:14

It’s amazing! I love it!

OmG if I was a kid at a party I'd be fighting to get in line for this!!

Charming chocolately, happy looking, reminiscent of fun and mouth watering. Hit all the bases!!

DisforDarkChocolate · 23/06/2026 20:18

I'd love that.

CarolinaLeah · 23/06/2026 20:21

It’s lovely!

GoodLife26 · 23/06/2026 20:22

Looks great. I wish I had the talent to create a cake like that.

Unusualsuspects · 23/06/2026 20:25

Honestly, deliver it with pride! It looks full of love and kindness. Anyone that can’t see that is blind to the meaning of life.

Edit to say it looks great too, but don’t be put off by the pristine control freaks.

dijonketchup · 23/06/2026 20:27

It’s a great cake and most importantly looks delicious.

You said you don’t know how to cut it - bring a big knife and a very clean chopping board (not one that tastes like garlic…) and do this.

Is this cake embarrassing?
BlackCat14 · 23/06/2026 20:27

Aww I think it’s lovely! And it looks delicious, all that chocolate… could demolish a slice of that now! I hope your daughter has a lovely birthday and the cake goes down a treat!

Supertayto · 23/06/2026 20:31

OP, this cake looks wonderful. You’ve made a birthday cake for your daughter’s party and that’s a really special thing. She may not see it on the day but when she’s a parent she’ll look back and want to replicate that kind of love. She’s a lucky kid.

Love it @Juststickitonthetopandcallitaday
I think some people hold the opinion that if something isn't pro level insta worthy then it's embarrassing. That's quite a sad state for them. The rest of us are smiling because we have chocolate cake.

JudgeJ · 23/06/2026 20:43

Have you got a big fridge otherwise I can see it sliding across the table!
