AIBU to conclude women pretty much always outshine men overall?

Or is it just me? I find that men, as nice as they can be, are just a little bit shit.

And even if they’re not shit, they’re just not as good as the woman they’re with or a woman of similar age and circumstance.

I see it everywhere. My parents. Friends’ relationships. Colleagues. The sense of entitlement, putting themselves first, not being as organised, not thinking ahead in the same way, letting their mood affect everyone around them…. I am not saying women are not like this, of course they can be. But it’s rare it’s to the extent of men.

Maybe it is just me. I’m old and cynical these days.

Men are more violent than women.🤷‍♀️

Physically, yes. Emotionally, no. And a lot of women enable men's abuse of children, sexual and otherwise, as well as abusing kids themselves. I don't see good and bad as nearly as easily divided by sex lines as the OP does. My own experience actually leads me to feel safer around men.

TooBigForMyBoots · 28/06/2026 23:45

Fair enough, you are going by your own experience. Many people experience otherwise as borne out by actual statistics. You have said that posters who agree with the OP hate men. That's hyperbolic, extremist nonsense. Do you hate women, just because you disagree with the OP?

It is hate to say that all people in a specific group are less than all others in another, yes. If you were to say that about a racial group it wouldn't be seen as acceptable at all. It is hate speech.

BettyJoanPerske · 28/06/2026 23:52

It's also 'hyperbolic, extremist nonsense' to judge the behaviour of a group by its worst members.

This isn't about race, its about sex. As I said previously, male violence is more a problem than female violence, regardless of race, colour, nationality or religion.

It isn't just it's worst members though. It's the collusion, cover ups, blind eyes and acceptance of male violence by other "ordinary decent"🙄 men that makes men shine less IMHO. I have explained that.

Meanwhile you have accused posters of hating men and being poor parents. Which is extremist, hyperbolic, nonsense.

It is being a poor parent to say that men are less than women. Especially if you are a mother of sons! You need critical thinking, not blanket condemnation. Also, as I've said, women collude in male abuse as well. Mothers put abusive men above their children every day of the week. The Wayne Couzens murder happened under the watch of a female chief of the Met police. If you are going to say that 'collusion' is as bad as actually being physically violent, then you have to include women in that as well.

Collusion and apologism are weaknesses. Women and men do society no favours by pretending violence is all equal when it isn't. It's embarrassing to see women responding to real concerns with hyperbolic rhetoric, blaming women for male violence and rushing to declare Not My Nigel.

Makes me think of Lady Eleanor Donaldson.

TooBigForMyBoots · 29/06/2026 00:30

Also, preferring one thing over another is not blanket condemnation.🙈 I prefer raspberries to strawberries and blackberries. I do love strawberries and blackberries, but I prefer raspberries.🤷‍♀️

Try applying a bit of critical thinking yourself before jumping to ridiculous, extremist nonsense.

Judging an entire group based on the actions of a few is a logical fallacy!!!

Every person has agency, and morality is determined by individual choices and character, not by sex.

I take it you don’t have sons then since you clearly dislike males so much? Both sexes have different but equally important things to offer the world. It’s ok to say we’re different too, women largely don’t want to be bricklayers, electricians or engineers but we need those professions.

Do you think because there’s not a lot of women in these professions because women don’t want to do these jobs or because we’ve been conditioned to discount them as male roles?

Lemonymint · 29/06/2026 06:04

My husband is a better person than me. Kinder, more patient, and more accepting than I am. Also, he doesn't keep misplacing his cellphone, glasses etc which I do with depressing regularity - he even helps me find them.

You seem to be defining aggression solely as a physical act of violence. Someone can still be aggressive without lifting a finger.

Yes, emotional abuse is a particular favourite of the men.

When Sweden actively removed traditional gender conditioning through progressive policies and ungendered education, it resulted in a society with deeply shared household responsibilities, but it also gave rise to the "gender equality paradox where men and women gravitated toward traditionally segregated career paths.

When people were completely free to choose without traditional pressure, Swedish women frequently pursued care-oriented and public-sector professions, while men largely dominated private-sector engineering and technical roles.

Do women outshine men in the building of skyscrapers?

Do women outshine men working on oil rigs to bring fuel and energy to millions of people?

Do women outshine men in restoring a town's electricity at 4am in the middle of a thunder & lightning storm?

Do women outshine men if your car breaks down (or God forbid, you need to change a tyre!) on the motorway and you need someone to fix it?

Ridiculous thread.

Yes, it is a ridiculous thread!!! And it’s damaging for boys and men to have to hear, and it’s JUST NOT TRUE!!!

Same!!! For boys to have to grow up hearing this, from their own mothers and other women is just awful. What does it achieve?

YABU.

A quick review of who has contributed - by far - the most to human progress, who has shaped the world and who runs it, it will quickly be seen who outshines who.

Give someone has mentioned race already, I will be more specific and identify the european male - and his descendants around the world - as being the chap to completely embarrass everyone else with his outstanding excellence.

@BlueSherbet this honestly has given me a laugh this Monday morning, thank you 😅

@TrishM80 do you understand why women have been sidelined from contributing to these sorts of things?

Hint: its not because women aren’t capable

@6ate9 that’s lovely but as I’ve said throughout the thread, I’m referring to characteristics.

Men are much much more likely not to financially contribute to their children’s upbringing

Prisons are filled with men in the main

Men are physically more violent than women

Men start wars

But sure, let’s congratulate them for laying some tarmac on an A road

Women CHOOSE not to do these jobs. They don’t WANT them. Why are there hardly any female refuse collectors? The job is done in the day time, not late at night!!!
