That’s my Friday rant.
Far right men thinking they’re sorting everything out with their riots to protect the women. Maybe women should riot about just men.

also I know it’s not all men, but it is men.

I work in criminal justice, you'd be amazed by what I see day in day out, those offences are a drop in the ocean, oh and the vast majority of violent and sexual offences are carried out by white British born men

Edited

Men of British origin are a far bigger majority in this country so it would be even more of a problem if the crimes committed by ethnic minorities outstripped them.

The issue is that as data from other European countries shows, the ethnic minority men commit far more crimes per capita than British origin men.

That means, the more of them that enter the country, the quicker the total crimes will rise.

Nice minimisation of these wholly preventable crimes though - I’m sure the victims will be glad to one you think their life changing horror is a ‘drop in the ocean’.

The UK government don’t publish data on ethnicity of criminals - have a think about why.

If the data showed that they were no more likely to commit crimes than any other British origin man, support for Nigel Farage’s party among normal people would disintegrate overnight.

I do as well, and while of course I agree the vast majority of sexual offending is carried out by white men, that overlooks that firstly most men here are white for obvious reasons, and secondly certain groups are overrepresented in certain types of offending. Making out all sexual offending is the same and happens under the same circumstances is a nonsense.

This is why we urgently need proper statistics, not watered down nonsense of ‘all immigrants together’ etc

I just don't know how we can get through to men who from birth are taught that men and women are very different cant pray together can't do this or that etc ?
How ??

Don’t forget that the belief is also that a woman’s word is worth half a man’s word. And that if women want to stay safe we must cover ourselves.

The authorities know that there are imams in UK mosques preaching terrible things about their hatred for Western values and that things like stoning women is acceptable. The Labour Party are very keen to prevent us from discussing that. And obviously they don’t want to do anything about these radical preachers - for the sake of ‘community relations’.

Greenwitchart · Today 08:52

Agreed.

I am so sick and tired of all these instances of men raping and abusing women and girls and even children. And of male violence, rampant entitlement and toxicity in general.

Not to mention the fact that some judges keep letting them get away with rape/abuse/domestic violence with light or no prison sentences.

Misogyny is also all over social media and very little is done to address that too.

Some of these men follow religions that tell to see women as property and lesser human beings which adds to the problem.

I am 55 and when I look at my life so far there are countless episodes when I was faced with male violence and misogyny. It started in childhood at home and at school and it continued throughout my adult years.

I don't think there is an easy solution but the first step is definitely to accept that there is a problem with men's behaviour and to say that we will not put up with it anymore. No more ''not all men'' or ''be kind'...

Except if you bother to look at the actual data male violence correlates with sex, age and socio-economic status but not with race, religion, ethnicity or culture.

So a young white British male living in a deprived area is everybit as likely to commit acts of violence as a young black Sudanese man living in a deprived area.

So a young white British male living in a deprived area is everybit as likely to commit acts of violence as a young black Sudanese man living in a deprived area.

That is not remotely true. There is no data that says that.

If you look at the horrific brutality in Sudan, in a state of civil war for the last 30 years under Islamic rule and think that is not going to have a negative impact on it’s citizens and their attitudes to ultra violence compared with a white British boy brought up in a peaceful country with a developed justice system system and (mostly) effective police force, I think you are denying the obvious reality for your political beliefs.

HermioneWeasley · Today 09:23

As is so often the way, Janice Turner is extremely articulate on this. To pretend that men who have come from a background of extreme violence and from countries where women have no rights do not present additional risk is just wilfully naive.

yes British born men are also violent misogynists. That doesn’t mean that adding hundreds of thousands of young men from these culture is ok.

Blaming social media for riots misses the point

perhaps it’s saltiness because when my own daughter was attacked, no one gave a shit. Barely a rumble in the local paper, let alone people out setting fire to buildings to vent their anger. But if her attacker had been born abroad…? Did that make her experience better because he was born here? Of course not.

I’m sorry for what your daughter went through.

You’ve missed a bit though - a large part of the anger is being driven by the fact that foreign men are not being properly punished or not prosecuted at all. There are long lists of excuses made by these rapists and on too many occasions the judges are taking them into account.

The reluctance to prosecute the Pakistani grooming gang perpetrators or to even hold a proper inquiry, alongside the refusal of the government to release the crime data all adds up to a serious problem and a well founded Pete emotion that foreign men are more likely to get away with it.

Thousands more rapes could be stopped if a clear message is sent out to foreign men that a) rape is illegal and they will be prosecuted properly and b) foreign national rapists will be deported. That would focus some minds.

There are so many things this government could be doing to reduce sexual violence against women but they are doing none of them.

You’ve missed a bit though - a large part of the anger is being driven by the fact that foreign men are not being properly punished or not prosecuted at all.

really? My anger is that the British born men I come across aren’t being punished properly or at all, that was the literal point I was making.

The cases of foreign born men typically end up being high profile and punished with prison sentences (rightly).

there was a case where a boy was not imprisoned as the judge said he was too immature to understand his actions (which was completely flabbergasting in itself) which was quickly turned to “he was let off because the judge said he didn’t understand his actions because of the place he was born accepting that treatment of women, which was completely fabricated and not at all reflected in the sentencing notes.

I don’t think anyone is saying that?

I think what people are repeatedly saying (and for some reason being ignored) is that the faux outrage over protecting “our own” only comes when the perpetrator is foreign born. We have hundreds of awful crimes a day that go by without a peep.

I can only find three that were jailed 10 years ago (so will be out now). One was more recent but he had an international high profile and hard for the authorities to ignore.

You just need to look at the internet and see who is preaching openly and repeatedly - they clearly have no fear of sanctions. Do you think that police forces that refuse to prosecute repeated rapists in the name of ‘community relations’ will be rushing to shut down these guys?

of course some get a bit of a attention after the fact, but given the number of cases there are, they absolutely are not raged about as much as they should be and certainly not as much as they are when the attacker is born outside the UK. It’s inarguable.

Try looking up some of the many relevant case and reading the judges comments - it’s not just one example as you claim - it’s many.

Perhaps we should refuse entry to the UK to all men and let women immigrants in. We could introduce a one in one out system, one woman gets asylum from an oppressive country, one of our home gown thugs takes her place.

50sandFabulous · Today 09:55

Yes it's men, however, given that we already have a problem with indigenous male violence, it's compounding the problem to allow thousands of foreign young men in to our country, who come from places where rape isn't even a crime and women are seen as lesser than. Why add to the problem?

No. If that were my argument, I’d have made it.

My argument is that rape and sexual assault are not punished often enough or severely enough, full stop. As the vast majority of these offences are committed by British born offenders, the majority of people benefiting from that leniency are British born.

I’ve read many sentencing remarks involving both British born and foreign born offenders. Happy to read a shed load more if you have lots of examples of foreign born attackers being let off because they didn’t know rape was wrong. My understanding has been that that narrative is used in the media, but rarely reflected in the actual sentencing. But as I said, my daughter’s attacker was let off for being the family breadwinner, so if you are right about foreign attackers being excused for their culture, it’s no different to the excuses we afford people born here.

The bottom line is we do not punish men harshly enough for their treatment of women. All men.

Ive repeated it so many times it’s starting to lose meaning. I’ll go for caps, see if it helps.

WHY DO WE ONLY SEE VIOLENT DISORDER IN RESPONSE TO CRIMES COMMITTED BY FOREIGN BORN CRIMINALS. SPECIFICALLY BROWN ONES.

Andrew Tate was an example of someone who treats women appallingly, replace him with anyone you like. Why don’t gangs of men care to burn the streets for other crimes. That’s my only question in this sub really. And apart from “well we’ve got loads of our own criminal, let’s not import more” - I’ve got no answer.

its a fair argument, but it doesn’t touch the point of why there’s not the same outrage when one of our own does something similar (or worse)

Yes, Henry nowak wasn't beheaded on the street was he. He was stabbed. Plenty of other people have been stabbed without a riot ensuing.
