A lot of posters here need to see the conclusion of this story about the clearly terrified child, that so many people were quick to be awful about. You all owe this extremely vulnerable child you participated in the defamation of, a massive fucking apology. I'm genuinely so angry about how so many grown women denigrated a hurt and scared child. Her fear was so evident in her voice and demeanor and so many mothers here were quick to throw her under a bus. Well you've all been proven wrong now, with the man she was trying to defend herself from found guilty of assault.

Honestly, just think about what you people did, defending a man who assaulted a child just because she was of a class you deem beneath you. I hope you're very, very ashamed and take stock before more girls like her suffer worse.

A grooming gang of Balkan gypsy men were caught in Dundee a few months ago. The man in this incident we’re talking about described himself as a gangster gypsys king and talked about making whores get in his car on social media.

And no I have nothing against gypsys I have a lot of gypsys ancestry.
But it’s the same concept with the police not wanting to protect white girls because they don’t want to seem racist to minority groups so you keep saying he was Bulgarian not Asian is irrelevant

I think you’re confused.

The post I was responding to specifically spoke about the Asian grooming gangs and how they’ve impacted trust in police. Read it, that’s what it said.

I responded with lots of things, one of which was that Bulgarians aren’t Asian. Which isn’t irrelevant, because it’s obviously a fact. Bulgaria isn’t in Asia.

But still, in you come again to pick the one bit you don’t like and have yet another go.

This is beginning to feel targeted, Teethy…

You’re making a false equivalent, there’s a reason it’s illegal to carry a gun or a knife in this country.

Bizzare that you think allowing your child to roam the streets carrying an axe at 12 years old is protecting your child in your view.

I don't get it, either.

I wonder how such parents would feel if their child ended in a YOI for going around armed, or even worse, using the weapons?

It's no wonder that some young people have no respect for the law if their parents have no qualms about enabling them to break it.

ChunkyMonkey36 · 14/06/2026 11:22

Just to add, @Teethyblinders

I think by Balkan grooming gang, you meant Romanian (crucially, not Bulgarian).

We’d hate to be generalising that they’re all the same, right?

And what relevancy does him being Bulgarian (gypsy which is why he’s darker than non gypsy Bulgarians because they originally came from India and again nothing against them I’ve got a lot of gypsy in my own family history)
have to the point the police are worried about seeming racist against minority groups over protecting white girls?

I mean people like you already think teenagers just hanging out must be up to no good that’s why earlier you were performative parenting about how you wouldn’t let your 12 year old daughter go to the park as if pre teens hanging out at the park is a crime? Never mind the grown man flaunting piles of cash and saying whores get in my car online?

… the post I was responding to was about the Asian grooming gangs and how they have lead to police mistrust.

That’s why it’s relevant.

I did say that when I answered you the first time.

If you could stop trying to reignite debates from 2 days ago (the bottom part of your post), that would be cool.

so you think the police who don’t want to seem racist are going to be any different with a grooming gang ran by Balkan gypsys then if it’s ran by Pakistanis? I’m genuinely curious on your reasoning here?

And we’re going to ignore debates from two days ago because you never gave a good answer and you know it.

Your point two days ago was “she shouldn’t have had a knife it’s illegal” but you never gave a good answer to what else she could have done. And now you’re repeating “he was Bulgarian not Asian” and refusing to say why it matters. All very simplistic from you

I have read the articles regarding the “Balkan gypsies,” every one of them was Romanian.

You’re linking the two together intentionally aren’t you. I wonder why.

Careful, your mask is slipping.

Romania is right next to Bulgaria are you aware? They share a lot of history especially the Romani gypsys who care less about borders

You have very black and white thinking “she shouldn’t have shown a knife” “Bulgaria and Romania are different countries”

Cool then you’d know they are right next to each other and have a lot in common and stop saying he was Bulgarian like it’s some big deal.

Couldnt possibly be a groomer pimp even though he’s posting wads of cash online and saying whores get in my car. Just a respectable man going about his business yes?

LakieLady · 14/06/2026 12:15

bilbohaggins · 12/06/2026 11:16

Technically threatening someone with a knife is a crime, so the police could have charged the girl beyond possession and they don’t seem to have. The fact that the man has been charged despite all the media blaming her shows he was the aggressor. And he was the aggressor before she brought out a weapon.

as a child, we need to ask ourselves about how she was brutalised like this rather than somehow equating her level of wrongdoing to that of an adult man.

all the people demonising the child on this and seeking to find ways she might be racist - I’d bet you’d be trying to excuse the child a lot more if the races were reversed and that you’re not equally keen on some of the measures targeting knife crime that disproportionately affect young black men…

There's no "technically" about it; "threatening behaviour" is a crime.

In fact, it's more than one: one sort of threat is a crime under public order legislation, and another under protection from harassment law.

Yes, in much the same way if you just remove the sea, I’m actually French.

He could be lots of things. He could be a unicorn with orange spots. But he has been convicted of the thing that so far it is known he did.

If/when he’s found to be a Romanian grooming gang member, I’m sure we’ll be informed.

But for now, that is just speculation.

Do you often link people/criminals to crimes they haven’t been convicted of, based on their country of origin - out of interest?

Idk do you often assume little girls must be up to now good just because they’re hanging out together?
Were you a nasty thug at that age so now you’re projecting that on to every other 12 year old girl?

I just connect dots yeah you think she was a bad girl because she had a knife (thank god she did thinking of what could of happened if she didn’t scare him off) and I’m inclined to think a man who calls himself a gangster man and posts wads of cash online and his expensive car saying whores get in my car is not a good man.

Oh, I don’t connect dots. I prefer proof.

There is proof that letting your kids “hang around” as you put it earlier, is dangerous - there are men like this one, and children with weapons. Personally not a risk I’d be happy to take.

That might be overprotective, I couldn’t care less. It gives me the knowledge that I’m not sending a child out into a world I know is dangerous, and decreases the chance of them encountering a man like this one, or 12 year olds with hatchets. Both of which, are a risk.

There is proof (as in, the law) that carrying weapons is bad.

There is proof that a man who uses social media in the way we’re discussing, isn’t a good man. But then we know he isn’t, because he attacked a 12 year old.

There isn’t proof that he also is a member of a grooming gang.

That is just guesswork, and I’m not interested in guesswork.

Cool so our children have to spend their teen hoods in their bedrooms or getting shipped around by mummy and daddy because you’ll wanted mass unchecked migration and that’s your solution to all this?

The law?? 😂 the same law that puts people in jail for mean tweets and bans pepper spray (which makes walking home from work at 11pm relaxing to say the least)

LakieLady · 14/06/2026 12:36

Clavinova · 12/06/2026 11:21

To be honest, in this day and age - no, I wouldn’t send my kids out to get on a bus somewhere.

This incident happened in August last year. Why is the current Labour government proposing to fund free bus travel for children up to age 16 in August this year, with unlimited journeys, encouraging young tweens/teens to put themselves in danger?

Possibly because in many parts of the UK, it's still pretty safe for older kids to travel by bus without an adult. Many of them do it every day to get to school and home again, even after doing after school activities that make them later than usual.

I see kids getting the bus into the nearest city to me most weekends, just like I used to half a century ago. Letting older children travel alone or with friends builds resilience and independence imo.

I don’t want “unchecked mass migration,” I think we need more checks to keep everyone safer. I just also don’t believe that all migration is bad migration, and that it’s reasonable to assume migrant = automatically bad.

There are many, many who add value and live peacefully. Blanket statements and blanket bans aren’t useful, or sensible.

I also don’t want my child associating with children who carry knives. If that’s yours, or potentially could be, so be it.

I’m not responding to the “mean tweets,” on the off chance you mean Lucy Connolly, because I have absolutely nothing productive to say about her.

Then what argument have you been making over the past three days? Because you’ve definitely toned it down a bit.
That girl protected her sister was she supposed to just stand there and let the man continue with whatever he wanted to do?? Seriously you never said what she SHOULD have done all you’ve said is she shouldn’t have had a knife.
She did absolutely nothing wrong if you ask me says a lot that little girls are having to protect themselves and showing more bravery than the adults who are supposed to be in charge of this country and are letting it go to shit

I haven’t said a single thing about mass migration over the last few days, because we’re talking about one Bulgarian man and not mass anything.

You brought it up, assuming I’m an “open borders” kind of woman, when actually I’m for managed migration, not no migration (or all of it). You made an assumption about my views on migration, just like you did about how I allegedly “supported BLM riots,” even though… I didn’t. You’ve made many more over the last few days.

You actually make a lot of assumptions using very little factual information.

She shouldn’t have had a knife. Keep saying it, and I’ll keep responding the same way. 12 year olds shouldn’t carry weapons.

Where we differ is that I expect the services and adults who are supposed to support children, to support them, and if they’re not then that needs changing. You pessimistically believe that the law is a laughing matter, the police are all bent and will stay bent, so children should protect themselves with weapons.

That will change literally nothing, and will add to cases like this one.

Ok fair enough.

But what do you think that little girl should have done in that moment? And yes the law is currently a laughing matter have you tried reporting a crime recently? It’s easy to sit and say how the world should be and that she shouldn’t have had a knife but showing him that knife scared him off and may have saved her. Worst case scenario from the fate of the woman on Brighton beach last year.

The law is the law, most of us follow it instead of laughing at it.

There’s a Lidl in the background of the video - she could have gone in there, away from him, and asked for help. Any adult in that shop could have helped - personally I know I would have?

The police may have taken their word more seriously had she not had those weapons on her. Waving weapons around is going to lead to bias, and the assumption that you’re violent. Because non-violent people don’t carry hatchets.

I would much prefer we teach our kids to get help rather than wave knives around.

When I was a kid I used to run into shops to get away from other kids chasing me and ask to be let out round the back, sometimes they’d say yes most of the time they’d say no. And again if he knows where they live it’s not stopping the problem. The police will do nothing sentencing for actual murder in this country is a joke. If this hadn’t gotten media attention I doubt he’d have been charged at all

Im again asking if you’ve reported a crime recently because if you had you wouldn’t be asking whether he’d have got a sentence without media attention because you’d know he wouldn’t.

Grooming gangs were mentioned because we know how helpful police are to young white girls when allegations of racism could be received.

Speculation from you that going in a shop would have resolved the issue
