A lot of posters here need to see the conclusion of this story about the clearly terrified child, that so many people were quick to be awful about. You all owe this extremely vulnerable child you participated in the defamation of, a massive fucking apology. I'm genuinely so angry about how so many grown women denigrated a hurt and scared child. Her fear was so evident in her voice and demeanor and so many mothers here were quick to throw her under a bus. Well you've all been proven wrong now, with the man she was trying to defend herself from found guilty of assault.

Honestly, just think about what you people did, defending a man who assaulted a child just because she was of a class you deem beneath you. I hope you're very, very ashamed and take stock before more girls like her suffer worse.

What have I made up?

Couple pages back you were going on about how you grew up poor with holes in your shoes. Then tried to tell me I had no idea about anything because I was middle class growing up and not dirt poor. And tried telling me getting the crap beaten out of me wasn’t a big deal because I was middle class or whatever it was you were insinuating .

What age did you move out of your parents house? What age did you have kids? Please tell me more about how you know so much more about the world than me

After Julie Bindel inexplicably supporting the perpetrators in this crime, I have asked for her not to be invited to write for The Spectator again, a publication to which I subscribe.

(Do your best Attenborough voice)

… and here, we have a person who didn’t grow up in or around poverty, thinking that all it is is empty bank accounts and holey shoes….

Its not me that mentioned the holey shoes first

My parents were teenagers, drink and drug problems, went to school with holes in my shoes and was exposed to things no child should be.
Never armed myself with weapons thou”

As I said though you’ll see more and more girls carrying pepper spray and maybe even weapons no matter whether their parents are rich or poor.

I don’t think anyone said you’d said it first.

I don’t say this lightly, because I’m aware the connotations it can carry on MN, but you need to calm down. You’re tying yourself in angry knots.

ArmySal · Yesterday 19:18

I have neither the time nor the inclination to reiterate any point I’ve made.
Any statement I’ve made has been in relation to a comment on the thread.

You accuse people of adding irrelevant information to the thread and yet I know that you had a fat Ma, you were middle class in a nice middle class town, you were bullied to the point you had your teeth knocked out, you used to carry a knife, you and your husband are building your bodies up to start throwing naughty kids about, you’ve got three kids, you had your first at 16 when you moved out from home, you hate migrants and like bending what people have said to suit your own narrative and that you think it’s okay for little girls to put themselves at risk by carrying weapons to brandish at men.

Have an hour in the gym tomorrow, blow off some steam.

I am calm. Just asking what you think a 12 year old girl should of done when being followed around by a creep and it appears you both think the solution is to never let your daughters out alone at all.

And asking why someone said I don’t have any life experience when I’ve lived alone and had children since I was 16, what just because my mother didn’t put me in holey shoes?

Seems to be a hell of a lot of mindless waffling and no actual answers here

ArmySal · Yesterday 19:22

I never said you had no life experience.

Just can’t quit making things up.

Page 16 of this thread. you and chunckymonkey implying I don’t know anything because I didn’t grow up with holes in my shoes like you did.
Forgot only people who’s mums didn’t bother to buy them new shoes and took drugs could have opinions

You’re not going to write anything that will upset me by mentioning my parents or upbringing either btw, I wouldn’t have mentioned it if it would.

Kind of shows what you truly think of that poor girl in Scotland though 🥲

Clavinova · Yesterday 19:34

ChunkyMonkey36 · Yesterday 18:37

Nope, still maintain that I definitely wouldn’t allow my 12 year old daughter (if I had one) to aimlessly wander about.

There are creepy men and kids with hatchets out there - why would I?

aimlessly wander about

Where did you read that the girls were aimlessly wandering about when the man approached them? You keep making things up - first you said they were 'sat on a street corner', then you said they were 'hanging around a park' and now you are claiming they were 'aimlessly wandering about'.

As far as we are aware, they were walking to catch a bus;

During a two-day trial, Dundee Sheriff Court heard the 12-year-old had been walking with a group of girls on their way to a bus stop when Belov made sexual remarks to her.

I’m not trying to upset you, you’re the one who said you had holes in your shoes and your mum did drugs. I’m just asking what relevance it’s got to you being allowed an opinion and I’m not.
It sucks that you went through that but I’ve lived alone and raised a family since I was 16 so not true to imply I don’t have any life experience

Exactly and even if they were hanging around a park so what? Why can’t little girls hang around parks? It’s not a crime

I see Mumsnet are still deleting posts about this. Mumsnet are part of the problem deleting posts about male rapists and aggressors from foreign countries as if this doesn't happen. You don't represent women, Mumsnet.

That is irrelevant to whether or not it is justified to kill the person who robbed you.

You can argue self defense if you think your life is at risk, not if you think your things will be taken. The guy in this case was granted self defense because the other man was armed and the defendant used the knife the other man was armed with to kill him.

That would be the same as a girl arming herself with an axe and then when she uses it against someone, they disarm her and use it against her instead. It would be the part where she attacked them, irrespective of motive, and then they defended themselves against her.

That would be the same as a girl arming herself with an axe and then when she uses it against someone

Not only are you equating the 12-year-old girl with the adult leader of a black street gang, who committed robbery, armed with a knife, but now you seem to be claiming that the girl is a would-be-attacker.

Kind of interesting that such an advocate for poverty stricken children would believe our parents just “didn’t bother” buying us things…

That poster said her parents took drugs and drank alcohol. She also said they were teenagers well I was a teenager when I had my two eldest kids and they’ve never worn shoes with holes in.

So yeah it would have been financially prioritising drugs over kids shoes that did it. In her own words.

And I’m not advocating for the girl just because she was poverty stricken (do we even know that for a fact) I’d be saying the same if she was princess charlotte

We’ve pretty much failed as a society if a 12 year old girl feels that she has to carry an axe for self protection. Something is seriously wrong.

YOU said your parents were drug addicts.
That’d be why you were wearing shoes with holes in. Not because they were teenagers or poor. I was jobless and 16 when I had my first and she’s never been seen in holey shoes.

Drugs are expensive
