Is it too far gone now?

What do you mean by “gone”? What do you want it to get back to exactly?

Your question is totally meaningless.

AmberSpy · Yesterday 20:46

Care to explain what you mean OP?

Dweetfidilove · Yesterday 20:47

YABU for posting a thread no-one can reasonably engage with.

lljkk · Yesterday 20:50

yeah, it's too tolerant, too diverse, too intellectual, too democratic, too into binge drinking and angst over stupid stuff and Listed buildings and skylarks and rewilding and cups of tea and June OPen Gardens, Nottingham Carnival and cricket, Tate Modern, Banksy and rainy June weather and celebrating the World Cup. You are never gonna get rid of these things. Sorry, I know how much U hate all that, OP, you'll just have to learn some tolerance. x

ConverselyAttired · Yesterday 20:51

Where are we going? I'm excited.

CaragianettE · Yesterday 20:51

You mean too far gone in terms of people turning to Reform thinking it will make their lives better even though Brexit demonstrably did anything but? I hope not.

BurntBroccoli · Yesterday 20:51

No - it’s not. Just in the mind of bigots.

Ibi · Yesterday 20:52

Yes, once those tectonic plates start moving, there’s no stopping them unfortunately.

TessSaysYes · Yesterday 20:52

No.
A couple of million idiots voting for Reform. And we can make it a whole lot worse....sadly

MistressoftheDarkSide · Yesterday 20:53

Is this a sort of "MUKGA" thing? Or something geographical? I mean, I know poles shift and stuff, but I don't think we can control that. ..

Omega3fishoil · Yesterday 20:55

The UK is divided. There is so much hatred between groups. Too many oikophobes.

You are thinking of Scotland going south and Cornwall going North or more somehing like the Rapture?

Quashsquash · Yesterday 20:58

Sorry. Euro here. You fucked up beyond all conceivable fuck-ups almost exactly ten years ago, and it is really hard to see how you could ever fix it.

The way it was before

I hope we can turn round the idiots voting Reform. That's the only thing that needs turning round. The rest will improve with time and perseverance and getting that twat out the white house.

Which era, century?

You mean like... when men could beat their wives legally (1940s?) & women had to quit their jobs if they got married (1950s)? Or you mean like when central heating was unusual (1960s?)? Or when people let their kids get very ill bcz they couldn't afford to see a doctor (1930s?)? Or when Little Britain was considered funny and not gross (2000s)? Did you live thru constant fear of nuclear annilihation (1970s?). Or maybe when football hooliganism was rife (1980s?). How about Austerity (2010s), did you enjoy that, OP?

I mean, what's your decade, OP, when do you hark back to?

I humbly submit that all you miss is your ignorance of the annoying problems that were there in every era. There is a solution. You turn off the news, and you focus on what makes your local place the best place you can make it. With kindness, patience and helpfulness. You can do that today. Start Now. x

I think the UK has an awful lot of problems right now and the government seems to be burying it's head in the sand a bit over things. It's going to reach a tipping point soon with some bad consequences to come. It's not too late to make changes but needs cross party action.

I sometimes feel I must live in a different version of the UK. Yes it's tough at the moment, the NHS is on its knees, things seem to cost a fortune etc but everyone I know seems to be just getting on with life, meeting up with eachother, enjoying themselves. This division is exaggerated by the media and social.media, most people just want to get on with life. It doesn't seem any worse then it did at any other time. I grew up with the miners strike, the threat of the ira, the threat of nuclear war etc.
