We put aircon into the three bedrooms about 2 years ago. Expensive but genuinely the best money I have ever spent. It sounds dramatic but it has literally changed my life. I cannot cope in the heat x

Ireolu · 07/06/2026 08:49

Erborian cleaning gel

Heated drying rack from JL. I don't hate doing laundry as much as I used to. I have had it 2 yrs and it still features highly on my I'm glad I have list.

Hot water outside tap great for washing muddy dog, freshening up the patio or topping up swim spa

You wash your patio with hot water?

Does a man count? Not like that....

I live alone and can do most DIY myself as long as it's not too fiddly or specialised. But I've recently found myself a handyman who will come and do those jobs that I just cannot manage, or that cannot be done single handed. It means my bathroom no longer has a rotating tap, my roof no longer leaks in the extension and I'm going to get him to put up some complicated shelves for me when I've finished painting the living room!

Money well spent.

Rocketpants50 · 07/06/2026 08:54

Some bone conducting headphones, listen to pod casts now on my dog walks but can still hear whats going on around me. I have increased my step count and walks are a bit more interesting.

Can I ask which one you use please?

CaesarAugusta · 07/06/2026 09:08

An air con unit
And these neck cooler things that you put in the freezer

I don't get on with snag tights, I don't understand the love for them. Mine tore in seconds. I also got persuaded by those shorts they sell to wear under skirts and I don't get the appeal they just made me horribly hot and sweaty

Edited

I felt the same about the Snag shorts. I have some from Boody which are lovely. Mostly bamboo and not sweaty at all

Larrythecatforpm · 07/06/2026 09:10

New Carolina Dress Room leggings. I got Hairspray, Let it Go, Cinderella and Beyond Midnight. They make me happy just looking at them!

StrictlyCoffee · 07/06/2026 09:21

Oodie sleep tee! I was sceptical as I either/both get too hot in any nightwear or I can’t bear the seams and either way end up pulling it off and sleeping starkers! OMG it’s wonderful. I got 2 and am thinking about getting more.

Leavesandthings · 07/06/2026 09:22

GiaGia16 · 06/06/2026 23:42

I got a device for my cat flap that locks the flap when it detects my cats have prey in their mouth. Best purchase ever (although not cheap)

I'm sorry if it's been answered before in the thread, but what is the device please?
Sounds incredibly useful.

Snag chub rub shorts

A snag bra… I got 2 and have been alternating washing and wearing. Wore an regular underwire bra the other day and wanted to cry 😂

Some of the shorts arrived today - I wasn’t expecting them to feel like tights material and am wondering how they don’t make you extra hot?

LanyardSpaghetti · 07/06/2026 09:35

My best things in the last year:

  • A handmade, reclaimed wood chopping board. It's a good size, thick, heavy and a lovely shape, and I'm really enjoying using it.
  • Some decent quality t-shirts (for me, for once, rather than for the kids)
  • A vase from Teign Valley glass studio. Beautiful shape, colours, perfect size for the space I had in mind.
  • A leather desk pad - looks attractive, yes, and more importantly feels really great. It's something I spend a lot of time in contact with, and it's a massive upgrade to my home working set-up.

They do! They made me feel horribly hot. I can't understand the love for them

LokiDoki75 · 07/06/2026 09:37

I second the person who said coverless duvets for the kids. I have a child with a medical condition and it means that night time dryness is very hit and miss and mostly miss. I can bung the duvet in a quick setting in my washer dryer and it’s done in an hour which is a huge difference!
