Does it detect live or dead prey

Mine brought home a fillet steak once. Air sealed packet with a few teeth marks (cut off a bit for dcat then

Served it to dh that night as a treat

Dh is now exh. To this day he never found out where that steak or any other pieces of meat that dcat came home with came from.
He just thought I was a loving wife who had shopped especially for him and was amazing at budgeting.

😂😂😂

Edited

I’ve got the Lakeland multicooker as my rice cooker

It is small but it does four portions of rice. It’s also a slow cooker so I can use it for small things like rice pudding, small stew, veggie accompaniments or just use it to keep things like mash warm.

it keeps your rice warm for 4 hours. So I use it on club nights when we are all eating at different times. So the main thing in the slow cooker and the carb in the mini one.

Thanks for that - I didn’t know you could get one -will work brilliantly for just 2 of us

A 'cooling sheet'. Thought it was a gimmick at first but it really does feel lovely and cool against your skin, which is great in summer.

I went to see La Fille Mal Gardee at Covent Garden last week - it was brilliant!

I got a device for my cat flap that locks the flap when it detects my cats have prey in their mouth. Best purchase ever (although not cheap)

Link for this please. I have 2 murderous cats who like to.bring me gruesome presents often. 🙄

My Ninja mini blender/chopper. No more chopping onions or crushing garlic. I love it.

I bought from Amazon. I don't think my exact brand is still available but there are many near identical ones.

Thanks so much

Pyjama shorts sets from M and S - very stylish and cool in the recent (!) hot weather (prior to hospital stay). Usually have nighties and now prefer these
Melatonin for sleep - recently prescribed by a consultant whilst in hospital (not hopeful gp will continue with the prescription). It’s amazing!

ForeverTheOptomist · 07/06/2026 11:53

A beautiful new musical instrument. I play it every day (not always terribly well!) and it lifts my soul.

sausagepastapot · 07/06/2026 11:54

this will sound like a stealth boast but. we bought a sauna. I've been saving for it for a long time. it has totally changed my day/routine, my stress levels, my skin, my relationship with DH. game changer, it has greatly improved my/our life!

Wow, this sounds brilliant! Does it actually work?

Squirrelsnut · 07/06/2026 11:56

Rosewater with glycerin. Cheap as chips on Amazon. I spray it on my face as a toner and moisturiser, it works beautifully. You can also use it on your body.

notacooldad · 07/06/2026 11:57

A bit niche but a Cannondale Synapse road bike. Worth every penny, every night out I didn't go on every dress I didn't buy to afford it over the last 6 months!
Favourite thing ever!

pepayfelix · 07/06/2026 12:01

Some bedding plants for my pots at the front of the house, and a hanging basket. All make the house look a hundred times better (despite peeling front door).

Dyson hairdryer. So much better than my old one!

zingally · 07/06/2026 12:02

Certainly not an expensive purchase... But this time of year, when the weather can be very variable, I never seem to have enough work-appropriate tops to wear.
The other day I stumbled across a new charity shop, large and modern, where it was advertised that everything was £1! For that sort of price, nothing needs to be earth-shattering, or absolutely amazing. And if you only get half a dozen wears out of something, then it's no issue.
Needless to say, I got 5 work-appropriate tops, and a book! And I left the shop feeling rather smug. :)

-Molton Brown hand lotion

-Oh K! Cucumber Cooling Jelly Hydrogel Mask

-Candy pink packing cubes from Primark (these fit SO many knickers and bras in, it's crazy. Cost about £3 for a pack of 2)

-Some little retro plastic Smurf figurines from the 80s, for old times' sake.

-A set of new recycling / dustbins from Next in pastel colours for the kitchen (our current bins are black plastic, and all scratched up. Only cost a tenner each, and it shows)

😁

in answer to your query, also @ForeverTheOptomist and @Duchesscheshire
ZeroMouse will detect anything which isn't the usual shape of the cat's face / mouth / head. It did once block my cat from coming in because he had a large stick in his mouth - different shape. So live or dead prey.

I know there are a few different makes on the market, I bought my ZeroMouse last August and it worked absolutely brilliantly - syncs to an app on my phone. It is a little matchbox size thing which you have to fit to the outer part of your catflap and it needs a power socket nearby (we have one close to the cat door).

There is some sort of money back guarantee so I bought one, thinking if it's rubbish, I'll just get a refund. Worked fine from day 1.

No I promise I'm not on commission !

I was very sceptical, I ummed for years about getting one and wish I had done sooner! I got a braun IPL pro 5. All my epilators have been Braun so I guess I gravitated towards Braun out of habit.

I got the Philips Lumea. You can pay monthly if you order it through them and if it doesn’t work you can just send it back at any stage and just pay for the months you use it. Total game changer for me and wish I’d got it years ago.

Notellinganyone · 07/06/2026 12:10

@letshavetea you can buy it yourself on the internet. My son has used it periodically for insomnia.
