To be cringed out by this (re sharing a takeaway)

When me and partner get a takeaway and share it he is obsessive over making sure we get half each, he will literally count pieces of chicken in a curry for example - how would this make you feel ?

Next time start counting out the grains of rice.

Lmnop22 · Yesterday 20:28

That would give me the ick 100%

rubyslippers · Yesterday 20:28

Eugh
thats so petty!!!

thisfilmisboring123 · Yesterday 20:28

Yeh, I’d have to tell him to stop doing that.

nomas · Yesterday 20:29

I’m guessing he’s tight?

No actually, this is funnier- do this! 😂

VIII · Yesterday 20:30

That is ridiculous behaviour. What did he say when you pointed out how unappealing it was?

XenoBitch · Yesterday 20:30

I would think he grew up with a sibling that did the same. My DSis was the sort to get a ruler out if we had to share a piece of cake.

Thechaseison71 · Yesterday 20:30

I wouldn't give a damn

Cloudyonasunnyday · Yesterday 20:31

Haha I’m glad I’m not being unreasonable. I will point it out next time and yes very tight !

Maybe he is showing you he is being fair?

You can’t win on here, the amount of posts where one partner snaffles as much take away leaving the other starving and now this where its seen as wrong.

How would you like him to divide the food?

Funnily enough he’s an only child

Ew. Would not have stayed around to experience a second takeaway with him.

Good point - I think just a rough measurement of half using one’s eyes. Not counting pieces but I get your point

Well I think it depends on his demeanour - you said obsessive, which is weird, but a quick check is surely fine? If I'm dishing something out I don't count as such but I do make sure I "take turns" with spoonfuls to each plate rather than fill up one then the other, if that makes sense - otherwise the first person gets all the good stuff and the second just gets sauce 🤣

Conchiglie · Yesterday 20:33

This wouldn't bother me tbh.

minipie · Yesterday 20:34

Maybe he was criticised in a previous relationship for taking more than his share?

Or maybe you have form for snaffling way more chicken and he’s just trying to get his share 😁

Ah ok. Is the takeaway a bit stingy with the chicken?
I have had a prawn curry from one place, and there was a grand total of 8 prawns in it. If I was sharing, I would want to make sure we had the same.

Haha maybe !

I do this. It’s nothing about being tight, it’s just the easiest and quickest way for me to see I’ve dished it out fairly. (Edited to add - I do have OCD…this may be relevant information 😂 )

7238SM · Yesterday 20:36

Unless he has some sort of mental illness such as OCD, this would be a massive turn off for his pettiness. 'Maybe' he was told off before or someone said something and he thinks this is how to ensure an equal share? Personally, it would drive me nuts and is not normal, adult behaviour.

Does he also calculate shared bills to the penny also? 🤔

there is a middle ground between scoffing the lot and weighing out portions….

LimbOnTheTreeTheTreeInTheHoleTheHoleInTheGround · Yesterday 20:36

You need to get one of those massive balance scales for next takeaway night. Make sure its all totally even.

GooseCreekandtheRiver · Yesterday 20:36

Maybe he’s just not good at estimating it by eye.

Maybe he was told off for not being fair when doing it as a child.

Feels like a weird thing to be bothered by.
