To be totally APPALLED by how Robinson referred to Henry Nowak in his “speech” in Southampton on Tuesday?

Whereismyjoiedevivre · 04/06/2026 09:22

I’ve just seen a clip of this in a Guardian article on the main agitators in Southampton on Tuesday.
TR refers to Henry Nowak in this way: “White privilege?! Does Henry swear word beginning with F Nowak look as if he had white privilege when he was lying on the floor?”
He then smirks as he looks down, clearly proud of himself for delivering such an eloquent speech [sarcasm].
I’m beyond disgusted by how the name of this beautiful young man, who has lost his life in the most brutal way, was used in such a disrespectful way in order to rouse a rabble and boost TR’s ego.
AIBU to say that over the last two days TR, NF and their ilk are really showing us who they are and what motivates them?

Yes, and? It wasn't said referencing Henry in a derogatory or insulting way, it was to emphasise his point/speech/words.

For the record I think TR should have respected Henry's parents wishes. But I also cant help but wonder if Id also say the same just because its expected. I also wouldnt be surprised if they were asked to say what they did tbh.

They weren’t asked to say it.

Henry despised the likes of TR and others trying to create a divide in this country.

He had many friends of different cultures, including those from the Sikh religion.

Even if you didn’t know him personally then there are many examples online of screenshots of his SM accounts etc showing how supportive he was of the BLM movement and disliking people like TR and Farage.

Even the judge in the case, said he doesn’t believe he would have said anything racist because he wasn’t like that and everyone can agree to that who knew him or know about it.

The family didn’t say this because ‘they were asked to’, they said it because they know their son and knew that he would have hated it.

Who is "we"?
Some of us are perfectly capable of holding more than one thought at a time

OP's question is very relevant

The 37 (and counting) people who have liked my comment and me. That’s the ‘we’. If it doesn’t include you, that’s fine. Not every utterance of the word ‘we’ is going to involve you.

PocketSand · 04/06/2026 14:07

I think that we need to cut the police some slack here as they were presented with an unusual circumstance when they attended the scene. It is very unusual for the person who has carried out the stabbing in a random street attack to be involved in requesting police presence and remain on the scene awaiting their arrival. it’s usually a domestic abuse victim situation and self defence is the defence.

It is understandable that the police believed the murderer was the victim because he stayed on the scene. If you are guilty you run especially if There was no cctv or independent witness.

If the murderer wanted to play the race card and claim self defence following a racially aggravated attack they would admit the stabbing but claim self defence.

Agreed. After watching the video I felt less like the police had actually done anything wrong. They called an ambulance within 4 mins and it was a very very confusing situation as you say.

(and generally, I hate the police!)

Irrespective of whether they thought he was victim or perpetrator, the way he was treated was abhorrent. In my early career I worked with some of the countries most dangerous offenders and they were all treated with dignity as human beings, even when being physically managed for violence and aggression.

WaitingForSomeone · 04/06/2026 14:14

I'm actually wondering if the family have expressed their real views.. Or just an airbrushed version of what they have been told to say.
The godmother has been very vocal on her opinions.. Especially anger directed towards the police and the treatment of their family during the investigation.

This whole thing stinks, keir using it as an excuse the snipe at the far right stinks, the difference in how the government are reacting trying to sweep it under the rug compared to what happened to George floyd is apparent.
And people like the op will ensure that no one can ever complain about it, you will be labelled as trying to stir up hate.

Mumsnet has thanks, not likes, so excuse me for not being a mind reader.

Regardless, it's not too difficult to be concerned by more than one thing at a time.

Because you’ve asked OP to do so, in a manner implying this is something to be expected.

did you read the chain with OP? OP suggested that I had assumed she hadn’t done these things so I simply asked OP to prove it which isn’t unreasonable

Riled Up Man Swears Shocker 🙄

If he's not to your taste, just ignore him. Just as I ignore whining leftists who believe they hold moral superiority over everyone else.

I’ve said before that the issue here has nothing to do with left, right or centre. Are you calling me a “whining leftist”?!

Please can you answer my question: how did you infer that?

This post makes you look deranged btw.

I’m Deranged? Lol for suggesting that you’re wasting your energy on Robinson which is absolutely pointless and distracts from the actual problem.

If you had actually been more productive than complaining about the words of an angry man you would easily be able to show us. But because you haven’t, I will conclude that you’ve done no such thing because it’s easier to just complain about the like of Farage and Robinson. Slow clap…

No mind reading required. You asked a question and I answered you.

I, like most people, am concerned about multiple things. The OP’s point is not one of them. As stated.

A bridge too far this time. White men can't campaign against white privilege because it upsets the left. Hurty words are way more unsettling than a Sikh family lying about a young white boy while he lay dying. Not bothered by a police force who have been trained like robots to police with fear and favour.

A FAMILY lying. A FAMILY. Just like so many other families of all races do.

Why do you need to call out that they’re a Sikh family? White families do the same and you would’ve have called their race out.

What? You agree it’s okay to refer to Henry Nowak using an offensive swear word?

OMG! You are so right. How is everyone else missing this obvious point?

Putting a swear word between his first and second names is by far the worst thing that ever happened to Henry Nowak.

What have we all been thinking? We must immediately forget that Henry Nowak was violently murdered and left to die with the Police looking on, arresting him and accusing him of racism and mocking him when he begged for help. Surely that is nothing in comparison with inserting a swear word in his name.

Thank God we've got you to give put perspective on the real problem.

Err, maybe because it was a Sikh family on this occasion. 🤔 white families wouldn't have played the race card because apparently white people can only be the racists. Have you got it now?

No it isn't pointless to be concerned and upset about TR hijacking the murder of Henry Kovak. And your accusation is daft. I am writing words on a screen not terrorising people in their own homes and attacking police.

What a strange post

If you don't think the thread is relevant, there is always the option to move on and go about your day.

OP has made a great point, related to the whole situation and "we" think it's a valid question and worthy of discussion

At no point has OP said this was the most important thing.

If you want to pointlessly waste your energy on TR then you do you! You clearly cannot see that you’re playing into his hands along with Farage and Starmer. This is a divisive tactic which is utterly pointless.

My energy is focused on the actual dangerous policies (policing and lawfully carrying a religious weapon). This needs to change and I’m fucked off that it’s actually a thing.

But yeahhh Robinson said the word fuck… and Farage said ‘white lives matter’… you carry on being angry at that. I’m sure that’ll help change things 👍

Unfortunately the liberal left are to blame for the rise of these unsavoury right parties. When the educated and privileged classes shut down debate and gaslight ordinary people, like they have for decades, the anger and frustration only goes one way.

The left have always said that uncontrolled mass immigration was great, the EU was great and that the country was benefitting, but ordinary hard working people just saw their towns degrading, their services degrading, British life being eroded and seeing more unfettered and unhealthy cultural influx but no politicians addressing it satisfactorily.

When politicians and people in authority lie and whitewash what people are seeing with their own eyes, in their own communities, they will turn to extreme parties and anyone speaking honestly who echo their frustrations and feelings.

So political parties who listen to the concerns of the electorate are "extreme" parties?
