To be totally APPALLED by how Robinson referred to Henry Nowak in his “speech” in Southampton on Tuesday?

Whereismyjoiedevivre · 04/06/2026 09:22

I’ve just seen a clip of this in a Guardian article on the main agitators in Southampton on Tuesday.
TR refers to Henry Nowak in this way: “White privilege?! Does Henry swear word beginning with F Nowak look as if he had white privilege when he was lying on the floor?”
He then smirks as he looks down, clearly proud of himself for delivering such an eloquent speech [sarcasm].
I’m beyond disgusted by how the name of this beautiful young man, who has lost his life in the most brutal way, was used in such a disrespectful way in order to rouse a rabble and boost TR’s ego.
AIBU to say that over the last two days TR, NF and their ilk are really showing us who they are and what motivates them?

Didnt you call call another poster deranged?

Yep the OP said i ‘look deranged’ because I said they were wasting their energy being angry at Robinson which is a distraction from the actual problem at hand.

No. Like many posters here, you don’t seem able to read clear sentences.

I wrote that the poster’s post “made him or her sound deranged”.

Asking you in a throwaway way if you had sent emails isn't indicative of being deranged. Along with your OP and this, are you always so focused on language without a context?

OP didn't, as if they had done, Mn would have deleted. Personal attacks are against talk guidelines

Well tbf if you want to be pedantic I believe you said "This post makes you look deranged btw."

Funny, Farage would also be the type to say "no i clearly said look deranged, which is not the same as calling that person deranged outright"

When, yea, it is the same. You cant handle a bit of sarcasm but happy to call someone deranged/say they look deranged/its the same

GnotherGnu · 04/06/2026 14:45

Quite apart from the real offensiveness towards Henry Nowak, what this quote reveals very clearly is the way Robinson and his friends are tryng to hijack his murder to suit their agenda. There is nothing in this case that is to do with so-called white privilege, or indeed any other kind of privilege. That is simply one of the slogans buzzing around in what passes for Robinson's brain, and he drags it out at every opportunity.

EmailsaysOOO · 04/06/2026 14:46

YANBU. TR was obviously delighted to think he could use H Novak's sad demise for his sick rabel-rousing ends. The parents must be so upset to see their son's death is being exploited by these sly types.

EstoyRobandoSuCasa · 04/06/2026 14:54

WaitingForSomeone · 04/06/2026 14:14

I'm actually wondering if the family have expressed their real views.. Or just an airbrushed version of what they have been told to say.
The godmother has been very vocal on her opinions.. Especially anger directed towards the police and the treatment of their family during the investigation.

This whole thing stinks, keir using it as an excuse the snipe at the far right stinks, the difference in how the government are reacting trying to sweep it under the rug compared to what happened to George floyd is apparent.
And people like the op will ensure that no one can ever complain about it, you will be labelled as trying to stir up hate.

Keir Starmer is quite right to call out those who are using this tragedy to “whip up division” including Nigel Farage and Elon Musk. Given the recent rioting, it is sensible and necessary for him to do this. A Tory PM would have done the same.

Dontcallmescarface · 04/06/2026 14:57

YANBU. It showed the mans total lack of respect to Henry's friends and family but most of all to the lad himself.

EstoyRobandoSuCasa · 04/06/2026 14:58

And a few posters have accused politicians of trying to sweep this under the rug, but it’s important to let the IOPC investigation run its course, rather than jumping the gun and making knee-jerk changes based on limited information.

Of course a human life is more significant than any words around it. But my OP is about a very significant aspect of the subsequent protests in Southampton on Tuesday, in which context words are very important indeed.

I don't agree that TRs unedifying turn of phrase is significant in the protests.
I think the protests are about the murder of a young man by someone legally allowed to carry a knife (which appalls many people) and about the truly dispicable policing. Address those issues and the words of TR are powerless.

TemperanceWest · 04/06/2026 15:10

Owlsintheforest · 04/06/2026 14:36

If you want to pointlessly waste your energy on TR then you do you! You clearly cannot see that you’re playing into his hands along with Farage and Starmer. This is a divisive tactic which is utterly pointless.

My energy is focused on the actual dangerous policies (policing and lawfully carrying a religious weapon). This needs to change and I’m fucked off that it’s actually a thing.

But yeahhh Robinson said the word fuck… and Farage said ‘white lives matter’… you carry on being angry at that. I’m sure that’ll help change things 👍

You are also focusing a lot of energy on defending TR and NF.

PeachOctopus · 04/06/2026 15:14

Lots on here are trying to tone police criticism and shift the attention away from the policing itself to those who notice the problems with the policing.

I don’t know if you know this but Tommy Robinson has been very positive about the Sikh community, in a way the protests about race than about the establishment policies and the over correction in policing after the MacPherson report.

Henry Novak’s father said he didn’t want the case to cause division, he didn’t say that it should not be discussed and Starmer is cynically trying to shut down debate.

Nope. No.

Debate, fine.

Attacking police men, breaking the car windows of residents, throwing things around, aggressive behaviour - not fine.

Violence isn’t criticism. Shouting at buildings isn’t criticism. Criminal damage isn’t criticism.

EarthlyNightshade · 04/06/2026 15:19

Screamingabdabz · 04/06/2026 13:12

Unfortunately the liberal left are to blame for the rise of these unsavoury right parties. When the educated and privileged classes shut down debate and gaslight ordinary people, like they have for decades, the anger and frustration only goes one way.

The left have always said that uncontrolled mass immigration was great, the EU was great and that the country was benefitting, but ordinary hard working people just saw their towns degrading, their services degrading, British life being eroded and seeing more unfettered and unhealthy cultural influx but no politicians addressing it satisfactorily.

When politicians and people in authority lie and whitewash what people are seeing with their own eyes, in their own communities, they will turn to extreme parties and anyone speaking honestly who echo their frustrations and feelings.

At some point, the right have to take responsibility for the rise of the right.

There are plenty of smart wealthy people on the right fanning the flames for their own personal gain. They are taking ordinary people with them and will not be there for them to bring the changes they want to see.

did you read the chain with OP? OP suggested that I had assumed she hadn’t done these things so I simply asked OP to prove it which isn’t unreasonable

How do I sound unhinged. Genuine question - all I have said that it is pointless wasting energy on Farage and Robinson and that it distracts from the actual problem. It’d be better to direct our energy on actually trying to make a change (with policies etc). The OP said that I am assuming they have not done this which I encouraged them to prove it because I cannot prove it otherwise unless they evidence this.

How is this exchange unhinged and to quote the OP ‘deranged’?

I didn't see the post calling you deranged. I'm also not referring to your comment about wasting energy, I'm talking about the one I responded to where you're asking OP to disclose her emails?

5MinuteArgument · 04/06/2026 15:32

People are angry about what's happened and they have a right to be angry. People don't need to be whipped up, they're already angry and making their anger known.

Yes, it would be better if people didn't hurl wheelie bins around. But I wish Starmer and co would look at the issues and address the problems which this case raises instead of telling people that they just need to shut up.

That was in relation to the OP suggesting that they had in fact done other more productive things other than just complaining about Robinson. The OP said that I was assuming they’d done nothing which I reasonably responded asking them to prove it by showing us the emails they’d sent.

This actually would’ve been helpful to anyone else who is thinking of writing complaints by email as it would be a useful template.

Hardly unhinged…

Useful template? Strange you would need timestamped screenshots in that case. You were obviously trying to catch OP out.

I actually think that as soon as people resort to hurling wheelie bins around etc, they lose the right to be taken seriously or have their concerns heard.

I’ve got a disabled child that I spend a great deal of time teaching “it’s okay to be angry, but it’s not acceptable to hurt people.” Or “I will listen to you when you’ve stopped shouting at me,” IMO the same applies to grown adults.

If they want to be taken seriously, they should behave seriously.

Now expand that along the political spectrum. Every time you see a cause, no matter what and it gets violent.

Nope! I responded reasonably when the OP asked where they said that they hadn’t raised any complaints - the OP hadn’t specified what complaints they had raised but suggested that they HAD raised complaints so I asked for some examples.

This would only be viewed as ‘trying to catch OP out’ if OP was telling porkies.

Hurl wheelie bins around?

They were going around smashing windows, destroying people’s property and trying to intimate them.

There are videos going around of the damage that these ‘men’ have caused.
People were filming it.

One woman’s house had all of her car windows smashed in and bricks thrown through her house window which nearly hit her young child.

The were kicking at the doors of homes, trying to scare people.

11 police officers were injured and so was a police dog.

It is lucky that most people disagree with their actions because a larger crowd could have done even more serious damage.
