Weren't you 38 in your post about no longer using contraception this morning.

40 is young. I had 2nd baby at 40. Nhs recommends contraception into your 50s

Get your DH in for the snip! Mine had to have it as I’ve had enough surgeries due to fertility issues & anaesthetic issues & I reacted badly to the pill & coils so it was his turn.. one little stitch in the 🥜 job done! Mind you according to him it’s major surgery 🤦‍♀️😆🤣 well he should’ve listened & gone home put his feet up instead of going to the pub as it was still numb from the anaesthetic 🤦‍♀️🥴😆

Had my first at 40 and second at 42

My DH had the snip years back - all fine/no issues.
His friend had it done a year ago and still has testicular ache to this day poor lad 😧😱

Oh dear, he should get that checked out it shouldn’t hurt for him now!

I know, poor lad - he did get it checked out. Turns out he had an infection following the procedure and a large pus filled area. Thankfully that was sorted so the severe pain has gone but he still has a dull twinge to this day - 4ish yrs since the surgery. It's more noticeable when it's quiet and he's not distracted, but sadly there's nothing they can do for him.. 😱
My DH had the procedure done by a doctor and 2 nurses ...however his friend had just one nurse performing it in a side room and in comparison the procedure sounds way less professional.... So buyer beware!
Having said that I think this ache is a very rare side effect so wouldn't let it put you off. DH said it was absolutely straightforward/fine and would recommend 👍🏻

Gosh that doesn’t sound like he was treated well at all. Yes my DH had a consultant & two nurses for his procedure. Poor man may have scar tissue there now. I’ve got that from my surgeries it’s not pleasant at all especially for something which should be a small procedure. His story certainly won’t sell it to other men to have it done bless.

I got pregnant twice in my 40s and unfortunately both times ended in a miscarriage. It was heartbreaking and we are now very very careful. I'm 46.

This thread is great and all, but @68days could you please answer this:

Do you want children? Would you be happy if you got a nice surprise?

TheDevilWears · 04/06/2026 00:08

I had DD1 when I was 41 and DD2 when I was 42…
