Partner lying in bed on hottest day of the year …would you be annoyed ?

My partner works 6 days of the week
He never gets bank holidays off except today .
Anyway Saturday night we went to a gig that I really wanted to go too ,we left before the main act came on as he had a sore throat.
Yesterdag was a football game,he was up and seemed to be fine ,out for 10 hours.
Today he won’t get out of bed
Says he can’t be bothered because of his sore throat.
Its 29 degrees here
We had plans to go to car boot sale or beach.
Anyway I have left him to it and came out to the park with my book.
Would you be annoyed ?
I feel a bit sad as I’m sat by myself and everyone here with partners etc .

He works 6 days a week. Give him a break.

It's his day off and it's really hot! My DH is in the same boat. I am off all week so don't begrudge him a rest day. I have had a great day. We have spent Saturday and Sunday together, I don't feel the need to also be doing stuff today if he feels like resting.

Why didn’t you go to the car boot? Or beach? Frankly in this heat I don’t want to do anything that active. Enjoy your reading

I wouldn't have left the concert. If he rarely gets a day off and wants to spend the day in bed, I wouldn't be fussed about that either. Beach and car boot in this heat doesn't sound great. If he had simply said that he didn't want to do anything apart from stay home - instead of saying he's unwell - would that have been okay?

Was he playing football or watching? Either way if playing I guess he didn’t want to let people down, and if watching his team, I think it’s last match of the season so I totally understand him prioritising this.

And I do think that a sunny bank holiday can be the worst time to head out to tourist spots, traffic jams, queues for everything - parking, ice creams, drinks etc.

I actually had a nap myself this afternoon, and normally I never sleep in the day unless unwell but it’s just too hot outside to be comfortable and I’m really lethargic.

I get that you were hoping to do something together with your day off, but I think it’s unreasonable to be annoyed at him. Frustrated maybe, but it sounds like things have just come together in a way that isn’t ideal.

It’s too hot to be out for a lot of people. I’ve been mostly reading in my North facing front room which is 10 degrees cooler than outside.

He also works 6 days a week usually so give him a break!

I have several thoughts on this.

1. He works 6 days so it's fine he's tired and wants to do what he wants - be that lying in bed or football
2. Simultaneously he shouldn't promise you things and then backtrack. He should just say
3. You can go to the beach/car boot alone (I do)
4. Just because some people don't like the heat doesn't mean everyone hates it. Also this misses the point of OP's issues
5. I think you should just talk to him about this

Yes, I’d take offence to this.

He works 6 days a week, and doesn't feel well, he's back at work tomorrow- leave him alone.
