To feel weird about being second woman on sex chair

I don’t think I am BU but interested in whether other people would just get over it.

Been with my boyfriend for two years, we don’t live together yet and he has just got some furniture out of storage after moving house. One item that he has recently mentioned is a curvy foam chair/sofa thing made for sex. I will add a photo of similar. Although he originally bought it new I think it’s fairly likely he has had sex with his ex on it.

I am not usually jealous at all but I feel really weird about this - I guess because it’s specially made for sex? And because it’s foam I feel like if it wasn’t covered it has probably absorbed some juices 🙈. Although surely any bacteria will be dead after two years. I just don’t want to be lying on this thing knowing his ex was in the same positions, thinking maybe she was face down in the same spot and we would be basically cheek to cheek!

These feelings are all new to me as I don’t usually think about exes and I’ve never been confronted with sex furniture/toys/accessories that weren’t my own or bought new. AIBU to feel weird about this? Would you just put a waterproof sheet down and try to get over it, or refuse to use it because you don’t want to feel uncomfortable during sex?

I would tell him that you won't be bending over on his and his exes special sex chair thankyou very much, and maybe he could put it up on marketplace?

Put it on marketplace 😱
Really? Who are the people buying second-hand sex equipment on Facebook? I really need this not to be a thing

I am SOOOOO vanilla 😂

I shall be looking out for sex chairs on Right Move going forward.

Me too. Until the previous recent thread that mentioned one, I didn’t even know they were a thing. I’m so vanilla though that I’d have been put off the relationship altogether 😂

Frankly a man talking about/buying a ''sex chair'' would be an instant turn off for me in the first place.

And next week on Random Opinions I Could Just Keep to Myself , it's Tracy from Kidderminster

Me too- this week on MN I’ve found out about queening chairs, punting websites and fleshlights. Where have I been?!

So glad I’m not the only one. I would be instantly turned off the relationship. I’ve had sex on the sofa many times but that’s different to having someone buy a dedicated chair 🤢 just a huge turn off for me.

Why?

You wouldn't even need to put your knitting down.

🤣🤣🤣

OrangeJellySnakes · 24/05/2026 12:18

Looks quite comfy for watching tv

smallgreenandsplitthreeways · 24/05/2026 12:19

Now that’s one item I wouldn’t buy second hand.

I was just thinking it would help my haemorrhoids.

You’re making some assumptions @TheBloomingDahlia , perhaps he likes bending over on it and getting pegged?

And 'The juices' that would generate would be a whole different ball game 🤢

CaramacBar · 24/05/2026 12:21

I agree OP. I wouldn't want be the second sex chair woman. A bed or sofa isn't the same. Nothing to do with hygiene. It would just give me the ick

A lot of people agree with her. She's allowed to express an opinion on the topic

I saw it at Windsor Castle.

That's a commode, not a sex chair.

MabelAnderson · 24/05/2026 10:52

Crying with laughter.

Me too and as I currently have a bad back from excess gardening the laughing hurts. However maybe this chair could be just the thing for my back 😂.

Livpool · 24/05/2026 12:33

The only thing that would bother me is to why he wants to keep it at your house - why? I have a dodgy knee so might be good for me!

Gowlett · 24/05/2026 12:37

It’s huge! Where does it go when the in-laws visit? These are my only sex chair thoughts…

Goodmorningeveryone26 · 24/05/2026 12:38

TheBloomingDahlia · 24/05/2026 11:17

But is that because it has been used with someone else, or just because it’s a sex chair full stop?

I voted YANBU because I would feel weird about it being used before with someone else as well. I think we all protect ourselves by not thinking too graphically about a current partner’s sexual
history, and this brings it very much to life. I wouldn’t mind about the item itself, just the use with a previous partner

JumpLeadsForTwo · 24/05/2026 12:39

InterIgnis · 24/05/2026 11:35

IIRC that was built to accommodate three.

for helpful (stick figure) examples of how it could be used:

www.buzzfeed.com/alexalisitza/king-edward-viral-love-chair-fs

Those stick figures help but you still need a lot of imagination 😂. I bet the focus was still on him having a good time and less on the lady pleasure.

Nos4r2 · 24/05/2026 12:42

What else did he have in storage?
I didn't know there was furniture especially made for sex but then I dont have pampas grass outside my house.
Im so innocent!.

Goodmorningeveryone26 · 24/05/2026 12:42

Mydogsmellsofwee · 24/05/2026 12:02

Edward VII’s sex chair.

Not as padded though.

Really?? 🫣

BillieWiper · 24/05/2026 12:45

I certainly wouldn't try and have sex on top of a waterproof sheet?! That would be bizarre.

As PP says, he's probably fucked someone on every surface in his house.

JayJayj · 24/05/2026 12:46

I think the issue is that it’s purely an item for sex. You wouldn’t, (plural you) use a sex toy he has used by a previous partner.

I would assume that it’s designed to not soak in further that the covers, and they would be removable for easy cleaning. Wouldn’t really make sense otherwise!!

I recently saw one that folded into a rectangle, with another cover to put around it so it looked like an ottoman. I thought it was a cool idea. 30 year old me would have loved the idea of using it for the positions. 40 year old me has fibromyalgia, so I see a way to help with pain to make it easier. Not as sexy but very helpful.

Wingingit73 · 24/05/2026 12:48

Its a bit ugly. See if they have new sex chairs in ikea. Seriously. Dont worry about it.

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 24/05/2026 12:48

Bloody amazon keeps recommending this type of thing to me-which shows how wrong the algorithm can get things. A bloke wheeled that out and my vag would clamp up forever.
