AIBU to suggest emailing Andy Burnham about access to women’s toilets?

Aibu to suggest you can email Andy Burnham if you are what he calls one of the “tiny, tiny, tiny number of people” who believe that men including “transgender women” should not be allowed to use women’s toilets.

[email protected]

Perhaps if he gets enough emails he’ll see he is not right.

Why is EVERYONE ignoring the repeated question Ive raised - what about Trans Men? i.e. biological women who transition to be men?

What about them?

They are women, take it from there

How does forcing trans men into women's spaces keep women safe?

Lugol · 21/05/2026 07:13

Emailed him. He does not speak for me.

It would keep the TIF safe. If biological males are in danger in male spaces, surely biological females would be in even more danger? Any comment on the TIF who was put in a male psych ward and raped 3 times in 24 hours? Was she safe?

If they were women there would be no 'trans' element.

They are biological men.

I think it’s of great importance. But MEN are the biggest threat to the safety of women and girls, not trans people. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a bigoted, narrow-minded transphobe

Including MALE trans people. Hence the question. It’s not fucking rocket science.

Would you include an elderly woman who wanted a female carer (not a man who thinks he is a woman, or a man who presents himself as a woman, or any man at all who says he is a woman) - would you include this elderly woman in the category of "bigoted transphobe?"

And what about women of the Muslim faith ( or indeed any woman) who wants a female carer, nurse, doctor?

How does forcing trans men into women's spaces keep women safe?

If women had the choice between sharing spaces with transmen (who are very low threat & mostly look like women) and transwomen (higher threat and mostly look like men) then thats an easy decision for most i think.

So you think any “ person” with a penis can identify as a woman and have access to changing rooms and toilets. Can you not see how this makes women and girls vulnerable ?

What makes you believe that all the people who identify as “trans” are gentle and non threatening?

How so?

Why is EVERYONE ignoring the repeated question Ive raised - what about Trans Men? i.e. biological women who transition to be men?

Because 99% of them don’t ‘pass’, with their female skeletons and smaller female heads/shorter female arms and small female hands. They tend to have slightly squeaky voices which is also a giveaway.

Even Buck Angel who has spent a lifetime of surgery and hormones is discernible then you put her in a real life setting.

So the vast majority of ‘transmen’ wont cause any consternation in the ladies and then the tiny minority that may be more convincing, as they are female (that lifelong female socialisation) understand that their appearance may perturb other women so use neutral facilities. The law does actually say they can be excluded from the ladies if they are very convincing.

So your repeated and totally lame attempt at a gotcha is not actually a gotcha on any level. That’s probably why no one has responded

Why can’t transwomen use the men’s? If they are at risk of being attacked by men that’s a men’s peoblem. Nothing to do with women at all.

Do try and keep up dear. It’s not just transwomen who are put at risk - anyone who doesn’t fit the performative gender construct is affected. Look at the number of short haired lesbians who have been on the receiving end of abuse, for example, for going into the women’s toilets, as have several women with facial hair due to PCOS. And if a masculine presenting transman tries to use the ladies’, as dictated by his biological sex, I bet you’d be the first to be up in arms that there was someone who looked like a man in the ladies’. And what’s to stop biological men who did want to get into the ladies’ from just saying they’re a transman? Will you have
someone checking genitalia on the doors? What about intersex people - where would you like them to go? How about children too young to go on their own who happen to look older than their age? My DS is only 8 but already taller than most 13 year olds. He has a learning disability so cannot go in alone and cannot wait if the disabled isn’t free.

Bullshit they do. This stuff is talked about on here all the time. Absolute ignorance and arrogance on display from you here.

You know you can literally just ask chat gpt and it will count up for you the amount of content on mumsnet that focuses on DV and the low rates of prosecution for violence and sexual violence against women versus the amount of trans ranting?

So if women are in such danger in their homes, surely providing safe public spaces where they can be free from men is a good thing? And yes, TW are men wearing dresses.

I mean, they aren’t, but don’t let bigotry stop you.

Public spaces with transpeople would be safe, because the threat is overwhelmingly people women know. Which part are you not getting, exactly?

In what way aren’t transwomen men wearing dresses? In what way are transwomen different from ordinary men? Cause they told you they’re women? Christ how gullible can you get!

What part of women deserve the right to have single sex spaces for any fucking reason they like which don’t include men, that you’re not getting? Nice men, shit men, men who think they are women men.

Tbh I don’t really get the toilet argument about trans women perving if they use a toilet. I have never been in a toilet with a thought that someone is looking to be a pervert. The cubicle door locks, it isn’t see through.
I am much more sympathetic to changing rooms if single cubicles aren’t used a whole host of penis are in display - I haven’t seen this. The trans women using my gym change in cubicles.
I would want anybody to feel they have to feel really uncomfortable by using a space they didn’t feel represented who they are.
I am so sad that many feel this is the biggest issue our country faces and needs to email
a candidate for a by election ( who can do absolutely nothing as a candidate)

Interesting 🧐

I haven’t been in a toilet with anyone I thought was “perving” either, it doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen. Do you not believe all the women and girls who have experienced it?
Do you not think the reason it may not have happened to you is because we have single sex spaces to protect women’s safety and most men respect that?

My friend was flashed at in a ladies toilet, what if the man had been wearing a dress, would it have made a difference? I think not.
It took her a long time to feel safe going in to public toilets alone again.

He’s fully able to correct the position firmly if his views have changed though. Resounding silence!

And I very much hope he’s given every opportunity to do so by interviewers, at the hustings etc.

Once again

So you're saying because women are unsafe at home, we should make public spaces less safe as a result?

Do you hear yourself? That's an extraordinarily anti woman position

I mean, they are. Unless they wear trousers, then they are men wearing trousers. A “trans woman” is literally just any man who claims to be a woman.

Found some stats for you, hope this is what you meant?

England and Wales, 31 March 2024: of 245 transgender prisoners whose legal gender was male, 151 were convicted of a sexual offence. That is 61.6%. The MoJ answer says this group includes those who now identify as women, non-binary or gender-fluid.

No I was looking specifically for stats regarding trans assaults in toilets.

I’d also like to know how many transwomen are assaulted in male toilets.

If men actually ARE assaulting other men in men's toilets, because of how they present, that's appalling behaviour.

So why is the focus not on addressing this?

Why are people so intent on making it a woman's problem to fix instead?
