AIBU to want my sister to leave my local crows alone?

I have been feeding a group of crows near my house and we’re just getting to the point where they wait for me now in a morning and come very close. My sister has decided she wants in on it but I’ve told her to go and find her own murder as I’ve put in all the hard work with these ones. I told her there is a murder across the way on the field she could do and feed.

this morning I was coming home from shop and there she was feeding Russel from my murder. I shouted at her and she shouted that they’re not my fucking crows, at the point a woman walking a dog walked past and tutted so sister shouted that they’re not my crows and I was shouting at her. The woman just carried on walking but this was right near my house!!

AIBU to think she should just go and feed the others???

Shouting at each other 😀

It's just reminding me of "what's your name" "Ezekiel" 😀😀

F you, Ezekiel!

Russel Crow, Cheryl Crow, of course! 🤣🤣🤣

It was the mention of Sheryl that the penny dropped. 😂

TheBlueKoala · 19/05/2026 15:22

@AliceNotInChains YANBU She should find her own crows. But since you blew out her son's birthday candles you should be happy she hasn't murdered your murder.

Oh it’s that person. I remember that! 😆

Crows imprint on humans and remember their faces don't they. Surely they would not be for turning 😆

is that you Maggie? @Neuronimo 😉

So why are only magpies famous for it, then?

Magpies are more likely to steal shiny things than give them away, that might be why. Also we are more likely to come across magpie nests, at least we used to be when people used fireplaces more as they make nests in chimneys which have to be removed. People used to find lots of shiny things in the nests.

I wish this were all I needed to worry about in my life! haha. This is the kind of post I want to see more of on here though. Nice to have something different.

Oh my god the bike storage one as well 😂

Whysnothingsimple · 19/05/2026 15:27

Russell is a two timing bird, LTB!! Be grateful you don’t live together. Get you crows in a row! I’m not going to mention the penis (bird)beaker!

Beachforever · 19/05/2026 15:27

Why do people always blame the OW?

OP, it’s Russel you should be taking this up with.

@DuckbilledSplatterPuff Actually, don't answer that. I found something that says crows have the intelligence of a human seven-year-old, definitely old enough to know if it's being laughed at! Creepy indeed...

We were camping in Cornwall years ago now, and I was up very early one morning so sat outside with my cup of tea. There was a crow sitting on a telegraph pole nearby watching me, so I said 'Hello, crow'. It looked over and said 'Good morning'! 😮

If OP has a diva crow, she can call her Joan Cawford. And if there’s a particularly devilish one, Aleistair Crowley.

AliceNotInChains · 19/05/2026 13:31

That’s not a bad idea actually - I could easily stage something

You are completely off your box.

Well Russel came after I started feeding white chest, at first it was only ever white chest that would be there waiting but he started bringing Russel along and now Russel is one of my regulars. He’s beautiful, I think he’s quite young as he’s jet black and all shiny and huge. I suspect white chest is a lot older.

Cheryl likes to be fed from a distance but I’m working on her. To be honest it’s probably good that she’s a bit wary as sister will have a harder time getting close to her.

a veritable orgy

I'm on your side. This sounds like a conversation that would happen in my house. I feed the squirrels, Colin is my favourite. My other half wanted in on the action so I let him have Stephen (he picked the name), I've not yet told him Stephen is actually a girl 🤷🏻‍♀️

A distant relative of Beaky from Hurghada, (he lost his beak) he loved being feed, became my friend. Along with Max the dog camel who won the national for me twice?

Itwiznyme · 19/05/2026 15:38

wtf have I just read? You’re arguing over CROWS? 🐦‍⬛ seriously? Jeezus

worldshottestmom · 19/05/2026 15:40

Of course YANBU, who the hell does she think she is feeding your crows?? Especially Russell; I know him personally, and he's a stand up guy. I'd go NC over this.

Squirrel60 · 19/05/2026 15:44

BOTH OF YOU SHOULD SERIOUSLY GROW UP.

You both obviously have no lives; nothing interesting is happening, so you spend your sad, piddly lives squabbling over a murder.

There are zillions of crows out there for you both to feed.

I have a family of squirrels in my garden, though I've only named my favourites, whom are Marjorie and Paul. We have a pigeon that frequents in the garden, too; Beatrice. Her and Marjorie frequently come to a blows over the scrap bits of bread that get thrown out, it's quite entertaining to watch. I'm always rooting for Beatrice because she's so shy and demure. One of these days she'll be victorious and get the bread, I have faith!

Says you, Squirrel number 60. Squirrels these days, always involving themselves in the business of the crows. Smh

Double L is the usual British spelling for Russell but a quick search of (first) names on facebook shows there are plenty of Russels around.
I doubt Russel cares about only having one L.

Absolutely. And also I think that, since she is the one who named the crow, the OP can spell it any way she likes😅

Excellent thread.

NotTheMrMenAgain · 19/05/2026 15:56

I love you and your sister can F right off! But you really do need to have a word with the crows about their loyalty and not pecking the hand that feeds them. Sister is just a Johnny-come-lately and can’t be trusted to keep up the feeding. They really should appreciate which side their seeds are buttered.

The crows in my garden and I are steadily coming to an arrangement. It has taken a while, because when my dog was a puppy there was fledgling on the ground in my garden, the pup went outside and the parents freaked out - I had to hustle puppy inside to stop them dive-bombing her.

But I think they’ve decided to move past it now. It’s been a while, the puppy will be having her 8th birthday soon. They do hold a grudge 😆

My long term plan it to befriend them to the extent that that are my willing crow army. They will shit, en masse, on whomever diseases me. Once I’ve cracked it with the crows, I’m going to give the squirrels a whirl. I can think of plenty of uses for a squirrel squad…….
