The right wing press had kittens about Starmer receiving some free glasses, yet are shtum about Farage receiving £5 million in the twelve months prior to him becoming an MP. No one gives someone £5 million pounds. Farage is bought and paid for by a shifty, Thailand based billionaire. Why don't voters and the media care?

Interesting the press are turning. I wonder if they’ve realised after the by election that reform aren’t going to make it as a party. Labour aren’t going to improve so perhaps they are going to turn back to the conservatives for the next election

Yep. This one's George Cottrell, a convicted criminal involved with gambling and c-money. Undeclared freebies included Farage staying in Cottrell's rented townhouse near Buckingham Palace.

There's no explanation as to why Farage would need to do this: apparently it's now perfectly normal to stay at friends' houses when convenient.

It is, of course; the media just pretend it isn't when the Starmers stay at a friend's place and rightly declare it. And whereas the Starmers' host was a member of the House of Lords with his own voice and vote in parliament, Cottrell does actually need Farage as his parliamentary catspaw.

Yes! Farage is all outraged that... the £5 million was found out! Because he'd maintained such secrecy that only four people knew about it.

So I'm utterly unsurprised by today's news.

It's always seemed very unlikely that the one instance where a secret donation was unearthed through hours of diligent journalism was also the only one instance a secret donation was made.

I fully expect this to be the tip of a substantial iceberg.

As you said, he wants a free for all. He also pressed the BoE to not involve itself in crypto currency, as it would be in direct competition with his chum.

And today, it turns out that he accepted security and other emolluments from a convicted fraudster, as well as staying in his house.

I don't think Nigel understands cr*pto. It's not as anonymous as people may believe.

It is entirely possible (in fact I would be assuming it as fact) that a lot of cr*pto exchanges have been compromised for a long time.

What is amazing is how Reform supporters will accuse anyone who raises it on X or newspaper article comment forums of being biased against them. ANY political figure with these sort of financial interests has questions to ask. There are very clear rules about them. The fact that he thought he could hide the information and not declare the donations is evidence of pure arrogance and malign spirit.

I for one hope he is booted out and we have a sensible, moderate Conservative government that will cut welfare and understand the importance of tax incentives to economic growth. Labour are awful and Farage is a conman

What is amazing is how Reform supporters

There was a post on my community FB page asking how to contact the newly minted Reform councillors.

If there are any Reform supporters, they were conspicuous by their absence. But there were a lot of local people calling them grifters and noting that at least the previous councillors held surgeries and were visible.

Jenrick couldn't even get his story straight.

I really found it hard to shake the idea that Jenrick was wheeled out to defend Farage while Farage himself is preparing to cut and run.

Jenrick obviously realised. If Farage is brought down by this Tice, Yusuf and Jenrick will be fighting for the leadership and I doubt it will be pretty.

Farage owns Reform. Only he - and he alone - will decide it's leader, personnel and policies. (This is one of the things behind the Yusuf-Farage spat).

Unless as part of his criminal sentence, his assets are removed, he retains absolute control over Reform. Think Charles I ....

You write as if Reform have some sort of physical imperative to exist. There really is nothing stopping Farage from winding it all up and fuck the people who gifted him their membership fees.

Of course he may sell the Reform party and brand to the highest bidder, Maybe Rupert Lowe to allow him to neutralise the opposition.

I’m just speculating on possible scenarios if it continues. I think Farage would rather burn it to the ground than let Lowe anywhere near it. Most of its voters would automatically move to Restore if Reform bit the dust so why would Lowe bother paying for it? A bit like Reform donors must be a bit miffed that they’ve given so much money to try to get Farage into Downing Street when Burnham’s done it for nothing.

I think a lot of reform voters would go back to the tories as they would find restore too much

I commented a while ago that Burnham going from citizen to PM (?) in less than 5 weeks must have really caused some awkward questions for a certain Nigel "here's £5,000,000 to be PM" Farage.
