Why is no one talking about Farage's £5 million gift/bribe?

The right wing press had kittens about Starmer receiving some free glasses, yet are shtum about Farage receiving £5 million in the twelve months prior to him becoming an MP. No one gives someone £5 million pounds. Farage is bought and paid for by a shifty, Thailand based billionaire. Why don't voters and the media care?

Cottrell's been seen accompanying Farage to Abu Dhabi; on a PR visit to a North London synagogue; to L'Escargot for a Brexit team reunion lunch; and in 2022 to Thailand to stay at Harborne's resort.

He attends numerous Reform party press conferences and rallies; and he gives out a business card with his name on and an official email address for Farage.

According to Reform, "“The business card was designed to help donors or other members of the public easily get in touch with Nigel Farage’s office."

Nonetheless "Mr Cottrell has never held an official role within the party.”

Oh, and the undeclared gifts to Farage of accommodation, social media staff and security were just personal gifts.

Glad we've got that all cleared up!

Nigel Farage urged to clarify ‘dependence’ on Cottrell, who also joined Reform leader in Abu Dhabi in December

The thing is, the crime of which Cottrell was convicted was financial fraud. He even admitted, "I falsely claimed that I would launder the criminal proceeds through my bank accounts for a fee."

And the assistance that he has been giving Farage since that conviction is financial. He's been paying for Farage's stuff.

So there has to be at least a lurking suspicion that the money Cottrell is currently lavishing on Farage might be the proceeds of crime – the admitted crime or another by criminal fraudster Cottrell. Farage himself must suspect it. It's an unavoidable question.

I mean, we'd still have to say Farage's judgement in choosing his close friends and assistants was off, if Cottrell's crime had been (say) GBH and Cottrell's assistance had been polishing Farage's car.

But with Cottrell's crime and assistance both being financial, Farage is taking a huge risk accepting funding from Cottrell.

I don’t understand how he thinks he can split the personal from the political here.

BeardySchnauzer · 07/07/2026 14:28

Well I’m not surprised he resigned. He wanted to be an MP but he didn’t really want to do the work being an MP involves

TopPocketFind · 07/07/2026 14:34

He is planning to stand as candidate

PerkingFaintly · 07/07/2026 14:34

No no, he's resigned to cause a by-election, in which he will stand to get... the job he currently has.

He hopes.

TopPocketFind · 07/07/2026 14:39

And the parliamentary investigation will resume if he gets re-elected

BeardySchnauzer · 07/07/2026 14:55

Yes posted in haste

if he gets reelected does that give him a fresh chance to make the declarations🤣

will the people of Clacrton stick by him I wonder

Farage resigning and re-standing as an MP will not save him from parliamentary sanctions resulting from investigations.

The Procedural Protocol on parliamentary conduct specifically states that any investigation by the Standards Commissioner would restart upon his re-election as an MP.

I heard him droning on about how his house had been attacked, he'd been threatened in a pub and his daughter's privacy had been invaded (didn't know he had children.) But why were these incidents never reported in the press? When Starmer's property was attacked it was reported..and the subsequent trial.

BINFACE FOR CLACTON.

Farage wants a people v the establishment vote.

So far the only candidates standing are Farage, Count Binface and Laurence Fox.

This is Binface's chance to be actually elected. The numbers make this actually possible.

I'm deadly serious here. It would be glorious. And The Count Binface Party policies are as good as any other party.

https://countbinface.com/campaign-song-2026
This is his campaign song for Makerfield.

And these were his policies for Makerfield.

Can MNers get behind this idea and help support the Campaign against establish party politicians of all persuasions? To show just how fed up we are of this shit show including Farage!

Please please make it happen!

Vote Binface. It's the obvious choice. It's an expression of British politics and British Values. There is nothing more British than a man in a costume in our Democratic process.
