Pining for discontinued foods! (lighthearted) rant!

About 20 years ago when I was at Uni, I lived opposite a LIDL (back when you had to find a carboard box to carry your stuff around!). They used to do a Ristorante Frutti Di Mare frozen pizza (I think it was 2 in a box) and it still pisses me off that it was discontinued. It wasn't just prawns, it had mussels and other stuff (possibly olives) on it. I still think about the bastard things today and I just thought there must be others who have their long lost foods.

Others for me are Brannigans crisps and more recently, Fries To Go! Oh how I could demolish some Fries To Go right now!

Five centres was the Fry's chocolate bar.

Oh my husband missed these so I found a recipe for them and made him them for Valentine’s Day, tasted exactly the same! And made loads!!!! Just use google for the recipe x

i miss the old non vegan fruit pastilles and the syrup sponge you got in a tin, now it’s all dry and stodgy in a packet :(

I miss Dr Pepper so much! It was an occasional treat but they all have sweeteners in them now so I can't have one

I miss Cadbury's Ice Breaker bars - chocolate bar with splinters if mint crisp.

I also miss Sara Lee puddings, particularly the Pecan Danish Pie and Chocolate Danish Loaf.

M&S used to do a lemon meringue cookie - you could eat it as a cookie or warm it and have it with ice cream. It was delicious - I still scan the shelves in the hope it will one day make a return

Ragu white lasagne sauce only recently disappeared, I found it in farmfoods but now has gone from there too, all the others are too cheesy, fuming

Birds eye used to do a boil in the bag minced beef in gravy it had peas and little cubed carrots in and was delicious

Pretty sure there's a Dolmio version.

Birds eye feozen white rice with peas oniins and mushrooms in, I used to have it on its own with ketchup!

PanYan Pickle. Discontinued decades ago, but I can still clearly remember the delicious gingery taste, a vital addition to a cheese sandwich 😋

Lidl used to do a dark chilli chocolate that was excellent. I put in a complaint when they stopped selling it and they promised me it would be back soon - but that was years ago!

This is random..when I was a student, I used to go to spud-u-like and have the prawn jacket with a little pot of julienne salad. I had no money and this felt like a massive treat 🤣

You can still buy cafe noir biscuits in supermarkets in mainland Europe. I live in the Netherlands and buy them regularly. SO GOOD 🤤

OH and Pot Noodle used to do an Indian range (lurid purple/pink tubs) that were rice rather than noodles. I loved them (they were probably jacked to the hilt with MSG but oh well)
