Surely he's not pulling this trick again?

I wonder how all of you would feel if your king, queen, prince of Wales, or prime minister was shot at. A man died in Pennsylvania, it wasn't pretend or a joke.

Our royal family aren't starting wars, convicted felons and acting like Billy big balls though trying for world domination.
This is probably another stunt pulled because things aren't going the way he wants it to so let's pull the sympathy card and get someone to take a shot, so he can 'survive' and be so called hero.
I doubt if many people in the entire world would care if it was a Trump or our royalty shot, although I think most would go with Trump.

They always miss 😒

They’re paid to miss 😉

The shooter also just happens to be from California, land of the liberal celebrities that DT hates because they hate him, and Gavin Newsome, the likely Dem pick for their next Presidential candidate.

Plus DT’s scripted comment about Americans resolving their differences peacefully - the polls show majority of MAGA supporters are furious about the Iran war so this gives him a convenient reason to play peacemaker.

Yep, I’m definitely in the staged camp.

OverlyFragrant · Yesterday 08:10

I have a feeling that he is seriously ill and won't be long for this world.
He doesn't seem the type to want to have 'old age' on his death certificate so him or someone close to him is engineering opportunities to off him, and make him an American hero like JFK and Lincoln.

melania Dropped under the table pretty quickly.

Exactly, Monty

They seem to have a crap aim

Almost like they don’t really want to hit him….

You shouldn’t be allowed to kill me or people like Trump, Stephen Miller, merely because you don’t agree.

I didn’t say that. I said very clearly that I didn’t agree with assassinations. But i think people who are violent make a violent death more likely.

Oh you’ll just complain that the people you enable aren’t better shots, or say we deserved it for our completely normal political beliefs

PomplaMouse · Yesterday 08:20

There seem to be quite a few Americans who somehow seem to be under the impression that this is a US website, and that this thread is a US left vs US right discourse.

I think those MAGA-morons might want to realize that most of the reactions in here are coming from citizens of countries who the US - under Trump - has repeatedly threatened.

I no longer give a fuck about your "democracy" beyond what it means for me and mine. That's the mindset you've adopted, and forced us too. Stop whinging.

ffsisthisreal · Yesterday 08:22

So let’s get this straight.

He turns up to the first correspondent’s dinner in years. His team and cronies are talking about “shots being fired” (Leavvitt) and telling people to be safe.

There’s a shooter in the reception.

Everyone now uses this to justify trump building his ballroom at the White House.

Aye, okay Donald.

Where do you get that from?

juldan · Yesterday 08:23

RingoJuice · Yesterday 07:32

Because leftists glorify political violence. Even on this thread you can see them.

I am actually more right-wing than Trump in most respects. So I feel threatened by them
too. They’d kill me without a second thought and brand themselves virtuous.

@RingoJuice

So it was leftists who were behind the 6th January violence?
It was the leftists who kidnapped the Venezuelan president?
It was the leftists who attacked Iran, killed its leader and bombed innocent children?
It was the leftists who sent ICE to threaten and in more than case kill people?
It is the leftists who are threatening to take Greenland?

You don’t need to be a leftist to be against this horrid dangerous individual. Even hard core Republicans like Cheney realised how dangerous and harmful for the USA Trump was and endorsed Harris.
Anybody who has conscience and empathy is against what Trump is doing.

I would love for Trump to be gone from the office tomorrow and will not be a tiny bit sad when he dies one day. I will also not be sad when Putin is gone. The world will certainly be a better place without them.

However, I do not think that him being assassinated would be a good thing. He would become a martyr to those right wing extremists who still support him. And that might lead to another election win for MAGAs. Also US would get JD Vance for the rest of the term and he is even worse.

I am really shocked at the comments wishing death on somebody because of their political views. That is appalling. When I don’t agree with a politician I don’t wish them to be murdered. Have people in the UK forgotten David Amis and Jo Cox. If trump were to be assassinated it would be a disaster, the ramifications would be huge civil/global unrest, leading to god knows what. Biden was far worse and people didn’t call for him to be killed. People calling fro trumps death need to get a grip.

I rather suspect you’re missing the point. The people commenting that the shooter ‘missed’ are sceptical that the shooter was ever actually intending to hit.

That said however- someone who is directly responsible for the deaths, and misery of many will attract negativity- why shouldn’t they?

Sartre · Yesterday 08:25

I think it’s repugnant when people actively want another human being to be shot dead. I can just about stretch to understanding it when it’s a serial killer or similar but not someone who they simply disagree with politically. I don’t like the guy or his views, ditto Farage but I wouldn’t wish either of them dead.

As for this situation, I find it sad looking at the shooter’s background. What an intelligent and accomplished young man.

PomplaMouse · Yesterday 08:25

The effects of Trump's assassination of the Ayatollah are far more determinetal to the lives of most Westerners, outside of the US, than an assassination of Trump would be. Anyone disagree with that?

I’m not a boomer. Not interested in propaganda from either side.

I do maintain a subscription to the NYT though, am already aware of their slant and they still are pretty good imo.

And Al Jazeera English as we relocated to the region just before the whole Iran thing happened 😬

Thomas Crooks was a registered republican who was a keen hunter. Not sure that makes him a leftist. 🤷‍♀️. Sounds more MAGA oriented to me.

The entire world is “leftist” in @RingoJuice’s book. Unbelievable that anyone would boast about being further right than Trump.

I voted for him and support him (but not all things he does, that’s just not possible)

I don’t think I deserve to die just because I want millions of illegals to be removed from my homeland.

And I don’t like rockets lobbed over my head by Iran, which I was literally dealing with last month. IN A THIRD COUNTRY WHICH NEVER ATTACKED IRAN BTW

Biden was worse?!!!

What are you on? Seriously this is so utterly fucked up an opinion there are no words. Typical Trumper.

It's not because of his political views fgs. It's what he's DONE

Don't agree with assassination. I'd prefer a long lingering illness where he's totally dependent on others for years. Might teach him. Might.

I loathe Farage, but an attempted act of violence against him would profoundly disturb me.

I wouldn't celebrate it, but I'd view a Trump assassination more similarly to one of Putin. The US aren't a full blown "enemy", but they are increasingly adversarial to us and our democracy.

The state of their political discourse is their problem - and ours is ours.

Then maybe you should focus on the UK instead of being distracted by America. Plenty of work to be done there, believe me, I lived there and you REALLY should be focusing on British matters instead of focusing on the American head of state

Says the American who is posting - and posts endlessly - on a British based website arguing the America-First agenda.

Honestly, why are you even here? Why does our reaction concern you?
