Surely he's not pulling this trick again?

So let’s get this straight.

He turns up to the first correspondent’s dinner in years. His team and cronies are talking about “shots being fired” (Leavvitt) and telling people to be safe.

There’s a shooter in the reception.

Everyone now uses this to justify trump building his ballroom at the White House.

Aye, okay Donald.

Yup - Sounds legit, doesn’t it!

Then maybe you should focus on the UK instead of being distracted by America. Plenty of work to be done there, believe me, I lived there and you REALLY should be focusing on British matters instead of focusing on the American head of state

How can we possibly do that when our lives are affected by what happens in the US? You’ve surely heard the saying “America sneezes and the whole world catches a cold”? You haven’t even got the wit to see that those missiles you’re complaining about are a direct result of Trump’s unprovoked attack on Iran.

Given he's trying to drag other countries into wars he started and crying about it when we don't do what he wants, and the economic crises that he has created, the UK and the world generally do have a valid interest in the US presidency.

VanessaSanessa · 26/04/2026 08:37

Just my tuppence worth.

I thought security reacted very slow to get DT down, Vance was grabbed quicker.

Sounds like security in general wasn't great, a non personalised paper ticket got you fairly far into the hotel.

An older guy at one of the tables didn't bother going under the table, just sat there, couldn't be a**ed. 😁

The aftermath was quite amusing, people grabbing the wine and champagne bottles before they went and caught on camera!

PomplaMouse · 26/04/2026 08:36

Says the American who is posting - and posts endlessly - on a British based website arguing the America-First agenda.

Honestly, why are you even here? Why does our reaction concern you?

I lived in the UK, am married in so to speak, still post now and again. I guess you can try to get me ‘deported’ from your website if you wish.

But I think a voice from a typical American could help you get a grip though? But maybe not.

Like if you don’t want to hear from Americans like myself, maybe don’t post about Trump or participate in such threads

Sure and you could say things just shy of ‘wish he was dead, they should have better aim’

How is that gonna help? You have legitimate concerns, maybe the US alliance isn’t working for you, these are all within the scope for discussion. This? This is not ok

I know . It’s a shame this forum has been taken over by some of societies sickest individuals.

I agree. So many pro-Trump and pro-Reform posters these days...

ffsisthisreal · 26/04/2026 08:40

Have to say the guy on sky news smoking a joint at 8:40 has cracked me up 🤣🤣🤣🤣

NotTerfNorCis · 26/04/2026 08:42

Weird, my OH was saying just yesterday, 'time for another tomato sauce incident '.

For the sake of the world I hope you don't represent a typical American. I can sleep at night knowing most Americans are turning their back on the MAGA cult.

If this is a typical American the sooner the special relationship is dissolved the better. I wonder if the King will see this as a good excuse to cancel his visit now?

Equally, don’t engage on sites if you can’t stand hearing that some of us think Trump is a twat.

Honestly, taking a harsher response on immigration (specifically, from the US) is about the only thing you've ever persuaded me of.

AliceNotInChains · 26/04/2026 08:48

I don’t believe it one bit, the guys stood on the stage waving guns into the crowd look like they’re auditioning for a low budget action movie. Nothing about it rings true - even the crowd don’t look too concerned.

I expect Charlie’s thinking “Bollocks, means I have to go after all”.

I bloody hope they don’t send him, looking at their supposed levels of security.

Aberdyfi · 26/04/2026 08:53

What is wrong with these assassins? Why are they so useless?

RufustheFactualReindeer · 26/04/2026 08:53

CurlewKate · 26/04/2026 07:58

For me, a big concern is, when hearing about the potential shooting of the “leader of the free world” the first thought of many of us, including me, is “I wonder if it’s true?” That says a lot about the decline in public faith in our political leaders and systems.

This

though quite honestly if it was anyone else but Trump I would be more likely to believe them. Trump and his cohort lie constantly

I also don’t think its a great idea for him to be assassinated, for a variety of reasons but also because he will then be a ‘martyr’

Bumb13B33 · 26/04/2026 08:51

If I was Charlie, I’d be calling Starmer this morning and telling him to bugger off with the visit.

You say that all the time, we are used to it. Whatever.

It’s the wishing death on him or suggesting he brought the violence on himself (people were saying the same thing about Charlie Kirk). Thats not okay. That scares me because you’ll justify violence against me,
for having similar ideas (actually I’m more hard line than even Trump on certain things). You think killing Trump will make people like me, idk, change their minds or their votes.

And that’s really not what happens in these cases. Vance would be worse for you

You’re one type of typical American. There are plenty of other types.
