Does anyone else find it a bit strange that they just disappeared off air and are still not back?
They say it’s due to budget cuts and stick on a load of game show repeats. It’s a P take, can’t believe we pay a tv licence for this

When are they back? Barely watching itv now

I worry about getting old in case I get put in a home and have to watch shite telly. And watch community theatre groups doing skits about the war.

This! A place where I volunteered bought in “entertainment” for a lunchtime treat. Turned out to be a singing duo who do war time songs, Vera Lynne etc with a bit of 50s thrown in, Ruby Murray, Perry Como, Dean Martin .

Apparently they go down a storm in care homes.

I was not a good sport and pointed out that my generation will be expecting to sing a long with the Stones, the Beatles, The Animals, Beach Boys, Mammas and Papas, Dylan, Cher etc so I expressed the hope that the singing duo were preparing new material……

Denise Welch- Constantly talking about herself and her sobriety
Janet Street Porter- Im so clever and much more educated than you all.
Frankie Bridge/Olivia Attwood- 30 somethings for rent.

Forgotten everyone else

Janet Street Porter turns my stomach. Every chance she gets she brags about all the men she's had, all her marriages, and the affairs that she's had. She seems to wear her affairs like some kind of badge of honour. The woman genuinely repulses me. 😖If she had not been famous, no way would any of the men have been remotely interested in her. She always mocks and derides anything SHE doesn't believe in or have an interest in too, and laughs at it.

And yes, it's always the Denise Show when Denise Welch is on. Constantly yabbering on about herself and her struggles with depression. Yes I KNOW it's good to talk about this kind of thing, but when the subject comes up, she ALWAYS makes it all about her.

I find Coleen Nolan quite annoying too. She's always got a smart remark for every occasion, and often comes out with some kind of tedious Carry On Film innuendo.

GK Barry is bearable, but tries too hard to be funny. And she often isn't. She seems to be on quite a bit on TV at the moment, but she won't last as she's got no discernable talent, she's just an 'influencer.' She'll be like Scarlett Moffatt. Famous for nothing, all over everything for a short while, and then struggling to get work when everyone in TV realises she hasn't got an actual talent.

Frankie Bridge is OK, but has spoilt her pretty face with awful botox and fillers. She looks lke she's sneering now when she smiles. Frankie won't last if Loose Women is finished either. Again, not really any discernable talent. She was part of a 'famous for 5 months' singing group in the noughties, and a five piece female singing group in the 2010s. On her own, she has very little to offer.

I do like Olivia Attwood quite a lot, but again, not much discernable talent, although...... she is decent presenter, so she will very likely carry on on TV without Loose Women. (If it was scrapped.)

Also can't remember any of the others at this point.

Peak time evening TV on ITV tonight (7.30pm) is Celebrity Lingo. 😫 Kill me now.

I've always thought that I know I'm old when I hear 'Anarchy in the UK' issuing from a care home.

Yes, when they're not cancelling Christmas and forcing everyone to say 'Winterval', they're cancelling Loose Women. Busy lot, these imaginary Muslims. Grin

Can't even call it chocolate anymore, in case it offends someone.

Isn’t it because of Easter holidays

It’s not been on air since early March, I can’t see it lasting much longer

It does seem to have disappeared rather abruptly though. I mean, I can take it or leave it and haven't loved it for some years, but I wonder why it's suddenly gone?

I quite enjoy Loose Women. I don’t get the hate. It’s a panel made up of every demographic of women - old, young, BAME, white, disabled. Experienced hacks like Jane Moore, Mariella Frostrop, Janet SP, Kaye Adams, Charlene White. Some frothy ones - Coleen, Denise, Nadia. Some younger influencer types that I don’t particularly like - Olivia Atward and GK Barry. They have got rid of some- no more Linda Robson thank God. I like the different perspectives. Sometimes it is shite or they resort to childish games when I swiftly turn off. Some of them repeat the same stories - Coleen and Denise - but as a bit of tv with my lunch, it’s ok. Rather watch that than the News or racing or shite quiz shows.

Since they moved to a new studio they no longer have an audience or guests - it’s better. No whooping by the former, no plugging by the latter.

I know, I like it!

@Cantatopeatingthespicyones

Yeah, I find it odd too. They did just vanish with no warning didn't they? Confused Rumour has it that it's being cut to 30 weeks a year (as has been said,) but there was NOTHING about this before it vanished. I can't even remember when it was on last now. It's been off about a month and a half I think. The show went on hiatus for the Cheltenham Festival (March 10–13) but that finished, and Loose Women hasn't returned.

I do rather enjoy the lovely Vanessa Feltz on Ch5 though. Sometimes her daughter (Saskia Joss,) is on with her (as a panel guest.) She's a child therapist Some really interesting topics are discussed on their some days. Maybe give Vanessa a go if you've not already. Smile The show is on around 2pm I think. I work part time, so it's on when I'm at work some days, but I record it and watch it later in the day... Or the next day.

Yes really weird wasn’t it, something not right

It did seem to go downhill when they got rid of the audience. It was just odd then. No atmosphere. I wonder if someone at ITV was trying to get rid of it. It wouldn't surprise me if it never comes back.

Yes agree, really quiet and no atmosphere, was fine before then

Keep them off air. I think they’re all ghastly.

And Lorraine finishing at the end of the year…why?! All very weird, not even replacing them with good things…F Itv…!

Lots of people reckon she’s vile - maybe her audience isn’t bothering now.

I used to think she was lovely/benign also, but have seen a different side to her. I've seen her make comments that are extremely judgemental of overweight people - now that she's lost weight. She's lot as lovely and mumsy as you may think....

AClassicTrenchcoat · 15/04/2026 23:45

ITV asked Lorraine if she wanted to go earlier than end of the year which is when her contract ends, would mean her not getting her full pay. They want her gone. She said no. She has had an inexplicably long run. She should have been waved off years ago. She seems to be badged as a national treasure but not by anyone I know. I find her unwatchable.

I'm hoping when my time comes that care homes will be pounding with the sounds of Guns n' Roses 😆

AntiqueBabyLoanSmurf · 15/04/2026 14:27

True - but you shouldn't have to find a workaround to access a service (in a way that might not be as convenient for you) without some random third party demanding access to your purse.

Also, some people can only afford very limited data packages, and streaming TV/video will use this up very quickly indeed.

It's not a 'workaround' when fewer and fewer people are watching linear TV now.

Many of my friends have a TV set but it's only used for streaming services.

But IF you don't have the internet and use streaming and you do rely on linear TV - as is still the case for a significant proportion of elderly people - it is a workaround.

It's the same content, from the same provider, but depending on your device you either have to pay or you don't. No different in principal from if you could pick up a trolley of food at the supermarket and, if you use checkout 1, you have to pay in full; but if you use checkout 2, they let you have it free... except that checkout 2 is narrower and has a stiff turnstile in front of it, so many people will have no trouble using it, but some people, depending on their personal circumstances, will find it very difficult or impossible to use.

Tuesdayschild50 · 16/04/2026 18:05

Why do you even pay a tv licence that's on you .
