Loose women conspiracy

Does anyone else find it a bit strange that they just disappeared off air and are still not back?
They say it’s due to budget cuts and stick on a load of game show repeats. It’s a P take, can’t believe we pay a tv licence for this

When are they back? Barely watching itv now

Well, ITV as a commercial broadcaster is not funded by the TV licence fee so you’re not paying for it.

The first part of this statement is true, but the second part is not! This is one reason why the licence fee's days are now numbered: because people are getting rightly angry at being legally forced to pay the BBC for watching ITV!

It's always going to cause confusion and anger on both sides when you realise that you've been paying X for a service for years via middleman Y, but that Y has actually been keeping it all for themselves and not passing a penny of it on to X.

What I meant was OP’s licence fee is not going towards the production of Loose Women or otherwise.

But I think you were too caught up in frothing about the licence fee to understand to catch the nuance.

No frothing here at all - I'm very happy to pay for the BBC, for all of its faults, but I think it's outrageous that people who have no interest in watching BBC TV still have to pay for it - like legally having to pay Tesco to be allowed to buy food from Asda.

Of course you're right that none of OP's licence fee payment is going towards Loose Women; but she does still have to pay for it, even if that's the only TV programme she ever watches - and I don't think it's unfair for people to be annoyed when they have to pay for something but don't receive it, regardless of how the spoils are (or aren't) split.

somanychristmaslights · 15/04/2026 13:57

Maybe it was taken off air as it’s so unbelievably shit.

Lostin2046 · 15/04/2026 13:59

I've never watched Loose Women in my life, but I think there was a conspiracy about fighting behind the scenes because Facebook kept trying to push it at me for some reason.

But, I thought ITV was slimming down all of its awful daytime TV shows or something, no? Probably just that.

TheAutumnCrow · 15/04/2026 14:00

corlan · 15/04/2026 13:13

If you're missing Loose Women I suggest you seek out a cafe or perhaps a social club where you can replicate the experience by eavesdropping on a group of not particularly bright or informed women talking with absolute conviction about subjects they know fuck all about.

And at least one of them is half cut.

MacchiatoMavis · 15/04/2026 14:03

If this is the definition of a conspiracy then the word has indeed lost all meaning.
Loose Women is televisual arse-gravy and I do absolutely judge anyone who thinks otherwise.

I can believe that conspiracy!

Channel 5 have recently changed their offering so that it's all phone-in/panel discussion shows all day until 3pm. It's kind of informal-but-serious for the most part (with only the occasional 'silly' topic) - so maybe that's taken viewers from ITV and they're trying to regain ground by beefing up what they offer?

Sarahpainting · 15/04/2026 14:05

Went to the theatre last week to see JSP she said it’s back on the 27th April

WhereIsMyLight · 15/04/2026 14:05

The licence fee (paying licence fee to the BBC vs watching live TV debate aside) doesn’t guarantee your favourite shows get to continue indefinitely. If everyone else thinks the show is shit and nobody is watching it, the channel will cancel it or run less episodes of it. Shows get cancelled all the time and they just disappear. There isn’t a conspiracy behind it, then show just isn’t making enough money for the broadcasting company.

Bit unfair Are you saying Myleene Klass knows nothing about baby loss or that Katie Piper knows nothing about crime.

Regain ground by putting on repeats of game shows 😬 I can’t imagine anyone sitting around watching that

I miss Stephs Packed Lunch. When Channel Four cancelled it they claimed it was because ppl wanted to see something different Apparently that was repeats of Four In A Bed.
At least ITV were honest when saying it was down to cost

I thought Steph's packed lunch was awful too! There really aren't many good options for anyone who wants to watch TV during the day at all IMO.

Hasn't ITV launched a whole channel that just shows repeats of game shows all day? A big hit with my elderly FIL!

Their normal channel is almost like that now!

They hibernate every now and then, so they're currently asleep in a cupboard at ITV waiting till the time comes to wake up and carry on.

True - but you shouldn't have to find a workaround to access a service (in a way that might not be as convenient for you) without some random third party demanding access to your purse.

Also, some people can only afford very limited data packages, and streaming TV/video will use this up very quickly indeed.

If “most” people like it, that’s the real conspiracy theory!

You like it. You does not equal most people. This poll suggests that more double the amount of people dislike it than actually like it - https://yougov.com/en-gb/topics/tv_programme/Loose_Women.

Gameshows (even repeats) may not be everybody's cup of tea, but they do have a reasonable audience - if they didn't, ITV Quiz would never have been launched.

They're also extremely cheap for them - so if the option is either go to a lot of trouble and expense to (unsuccessfully) win back viewers or otherwise press 'Play' on an archive gameshow that will get in some viewership, you can see why they'd choose the latter!

awfulapril · 15/04/2026 14:31

It's ITV. Nothing to do with a tv licence
