Does anyone else find it a bit strange that they just disappeared off air and are still not back?
They say it’s due to budget cuts and stick on a load of game show repeats. It’s a P take, can’t believe we pay a tv licence for this

When are they back? Barely watching itv now

Maybe it was taken off air as it’s so unbelievably shit.

This ⬆️
Can’t believe anyone would admit to watching that utter tripe, let alone be disappointed it’s off air.

Cantatopeatingthespicyones · 15/04/2026 14:19

I don’t believe that, most people enjoy it

Personally I can't stand it nor can anyone I know.
So whilst some people may enjoy it most clearly don't, otherwise they wouldn't be cutting the number of episodes which is a prelude to cancelling it completely if viewer numbers don't increase

Andepeda · 15/04/2026 15:05

Lorraine's off as well, happy days. Not permanently though. 😒

GMB is in a smaller studio, some presenters are doing two jobs etc.

Costcutting all round.

Lostin2046 · 15/04/2026 14:23

I thought Steph's packed lunch was awful too! There really aren't many good options for anyone who wants to watch TV during the day at all IMO.

Hasn't ITV launched a whole channel that just shows repeats of game shows all day? A big hit with my elderly FIL!

Yes that's because part of the strategy to get people back to work, is making the daytime TV shite. I would have thought loose women was making a solid contribution on that basis, but hey ho.

I can't believe anyone watches loose women nevermind misses it

Well indeed …

Bassetyate · 15/04/2026 15:12

I do have a mild female crush on Frankie Bridge but even that wouldn’t tempt me to tune in.

WhatAMarvelousTune · 15/04/2026 14:46

Yes but it’s nothing a 2 second google won’t solve, and it’s not complicated. You need a licence for live tv, or iPlayer. Not other catch up services.

It's not complicated if you're online, internet savvy, reasonably intelligent, no learning disabilities, cognitive decline or anxiety and confident to ignore nasty letters pouring through your letterbox telling you that they'll take you to court if you don't pay.

Not everybody has those basic privileges that most of us do.

CarolinaLiar · 15/04/2026 15:13

What license? What conspiracy? 🥴

Loose Women is a bit of an embarrassing anachronism these days. I think they’re letting it dwindle and slowly limp off into deserved oblivion.

CurlewKate · 15/04/2026 15:14

IamRedCrossnotJesus · 15/04/2026 12:49

I heard it is all the fault of woke, Muslim benefit claimants.

I thought it was because of Meghan and Harry. They either supported them or didn’t-can’t remember which.

Moveoverdarlin · 15/04/2026 15:14

You don’t pay your TV licence for this. It’s an ITV show. Nothing to do with the TV licence.

Zebedee999 · 15/04/2026 15:15

MendingWall · 15/04/2026 12:42

Well, ITV as a commercial broadcaster is not funded by the TV licence fee so you’re not paying for it. But on that basis, if they’re not making new ones it’s probably because the advertising revenue doesn’t cover the cost of production.

I thought I had to pay a TV license if I watch ITV live? Are you saying that I don't?

Pinepeak2434 · 15/04/2026 15:16

Should be taken off air altogether, the show has had its day.

AntiqueBabyLoanSmurf · 15/04/2026 15:17

Zebedee999 · 15/04/2026 15:15

No, you are correct. If you watch any live TV - I believe this may also include YouTube premiers - you have to pay for a TV licence, which funds the BBC.

TorroFerney · 15/04/2026 15:17

ToKittyornottoKitty · 15/04/2026 12:50

?

I know! It’s actually Trumps doing if you want the truth.

corlan · 15/04/2026 13:13

If you're missing Loose Women I suggest you seek out a cafe or perhaps a social club where you can replicate the experience by eavesdropping on a group of not particularly bright or informed women talking with absolute conviction about subjects they know fuck all about.

Chapeau.

TorroFerney · 15/04/2026 15:21

AntiqueBabyLoanSmurf · 15/04/2026 14:41

Even on this thread, it's clear that there's widespread confusion about what a TV licence is and isn't needed for.

Plenty of people - probably most of them elderly and not online - will be paying for a TV licence that they 100% don't actually need; but the threatening and harassing letters will have scared them into paying anyway.

Perhaps loose women can do a segment on it.

rwalker · 15/04/2026 15:22

It’s had its day they’ll be looking for a replacement

AntiqueBabyLoanSmurf · 15/04/2026 15:23

TorroFerney · 15/04/2026 15:21

That's not a bad idea, actually! I certainly think it's something that Martin Lewis could spend a minute covering in his programme too, as he's very clear and authoritative, people trust him and they know that he knows what he's talking about.

butterpuffed · 15/04/2026 15:25

Lorraine's gone missing too , am hoping neither of them come back .

You said it better than I could 😂. OP, is this a joke?

Cantatopeatingthespicyones · 15/04/2026 14:19

I don’t believe that, most people enjoy it

Define “most people”. I don’t know anyone who watches that trash, never mind enjoys it. I heard of it briefly sometime around the early-mid 2000s, but had didn’t realise those types of shows were still gaining viewers. Though, if they’ve been cancelled, then maybe they’re not.

As I asked before, though? Is this a joke? If it is, I don’t get it, but I also don’t get why someone would be genuinely upset about a daytime trash TV show being taken off the air. Upset enough to post on mumsnet about it.

MendingWall · 15/04/2026 15:36

Zebedee999 · 15/04/2026 15:15

No, I’m saying the licence fee money does not fund the production of Loose Women.

OonaStubbs · 15/04/2026 15:40

AntiqueBabyLoanSmurf · 15/04/2026 14:52

Studio productions cost far more than people often realise. It's way more involved than just focusing a camera on a few people sitting behind a desk.

Even with gameshows, the original recording costs a load - far more than the prize money, even the big jackpot ones. It's just that, once recorded, they can show them again and again and again for years and even decades, unlike a show discussing current affairs.

If anybody is familiar with the infamous 'Turkey Bob' episode of Family Fortunes (it's on YouTube!), Bob's wife was so mortified by his 'performance' that she offered then-producer William G Stewart £100 in return for not showing the episode. He refused, telling her that the cost of producing that episode alone had been £38,000 - and that was over 40 years ago!

Yes but £38,000 is relatively cheap for a 1/2 hour of TV. Especially as Family Fortunes was shown in prime time. I just hate how moribund British TV is nowadays. There are almost no exciting or interesting programmes anymore.

They come here and take over our quality TV programmes. I feel sure you are correct.

LeaveItLizzy · 15/04/2026 15:52

I think 'most' people don't even watch it. I know 'some' people who have likely never heard of it.
